Chapter 89 - Where are You?

Yu Huiyin slept until the following morning. As she woke up, she felt queasy and uncomfortable as she was reminded of what had happened the previous day.

Although she had been decisive and calm during the entire process, the truth was that she had never killed anyone before, and while she had used a gun multiple times, it was the first time she had shot a human being.

The thought of her actions had made her feel bad, and her head was hurting badly.

When she woke up, she found that she was alone in the bedroom. Her body was dressed in a white nightgown, and she had her clothes changed.

Yu Huiyin felt as if she was in a dream, as she opened the door and began looking through the mansion without even washing or changing her clothes, looking for Xie Jingyu.

She was feeling scared and uncomfortable, and she thought that she really needed him by her side right now.

She went to the kitchen, but she could not find Xie Jingyu. She then went through the sitting room, but he was not there either. She went through every single room, but she could not find him, and eventually, she went back to her room. She sat down on the bed, dragged her legs up under her body, and took a deep breath.

When she had walked around the rooms, there had been no one, not even a maid, and she began wondering if everything was a dream.

Pinching herself, she soon found that it was quite painful, and she knew that it was the truth.

She was left with the decision now, should she contact the police and tell them that she was the shooter who had killed the people in the restaurant, or should she just leave it as it was?

She was not comfortable knowing that she had killed someone, but after thinking about the massive display that Xie Jingyu had assembled when he went to pick her up, she knew that he was no simple person. If she turned herself in, then she would likely become a burden to him.

She looked around her room, but she soon found that there was no phone inside, neither was her laptop there. She began walking down the hall again, but she could not find any electronic device in the house at all.

Frowning, she went towards the front door, but she found it locked. She could not open it at all, and she started to panic. What was going on? Why was she locked inside a house with no people and no means of contacting anyone?

She had not even been given a note from Xie Jingyu, but she did not panic. She went back to her room again, opened the window, and looked down.

Everywhere outside was filled with guards, every window had a guard standing by the side. She could not see them from the inside, but if she were to open a window on the ground floor and walk through, she would, without a doubt, be caught.

She did not need to ask twice to know that it was Xie Jingyu who had caused this strange change in the house, but she was curious. What was he planning?

Was she on house arrest because of what had happened the day before? She was no longer as worried, and the discomfort slowly vanished, but she kept sitting on the windowsill and stared out the window, at the front yard, and at the entrance.

Finally, after two hours passed, a car drove into the driveway. When it came to a stop, Xie Jingyu walked out of the car, and his eyes were on Yu Huiyin, who was seated at the window, looking a bit like an otherworldly fairy.

His heart finally calmed down.

He had been busy dealing with the gang that had made a move the day before. He had eradicated them completely, together with Mo Jinyao.

Not even one of their lairs was left unturned.

Xie Jingyu had been worried that Yu Huiyin would turn herself in, so he had removed all electronic devices from the flat, even the people she could contact had been removed. He needed to talk with her first, and convince her that everything was okay.

He knew that what he had done might have made her insecure or unhappy, but he felt that there was no other choice. He could not allow his wife to go to jail for something as insignificant as killing a few gang members.

When he saw her sitting like that in the window, his heart clenched in pain. He could see an expression of apathy on her face, was she really unable to handle the fact that she had killed someone?

As he entered the house, he hurried to the bedroom and looked at the woman who kept staring outside the window, as if she had not recognized him, or noticed that he had entered the room.

"Huiyin, dearest?" he asked tentatively, not sure about what he'd do if she ignored him, but Yu Huiyin turned her head and looked at him. She did not blame him for what he had done, but when she was feeling the worst, where was he? She had needed him by her side, but he had run away to do God knows what.

"What's wrong, dearest?" Xie Jingyu asked again, but Yu Huiyin shook her head. "Nothing is wrong," she said. Her voice was calm and collected; there was not even the slightest fluctuation of emotion within.

Looking at Xie Jingyu, Yu Huiyin found that she was, in fact, not angry with him at all. She was just tired and exhausted. The strain on her from the previous day had been too much, but now was not the time to sleep.

"We need to talk," Yu Huiyin said. "What is your relationship with Mo Jinyao, and why do you have a personal army?"
