Chapter 35 - Press Conference

That night, while Yu Huiyin was blissfully asleep and Xie Jingyu once more was feeling a strange sweet torment from holding her in his arms, Assistant Song did his job to the best of his ability.

Xie Jingyu had ties to the underground, and he had various hackers, gossipmongers, news outlets, and more at his disposal.

These people started spreading a rumor that Yu Jingshen was spoiling his adopted daughter because he had taken an interest in her, and that he was using the casting couch to give her such a significant role.

A water army was hired to smear their name, and they worked throughout the night, so when Yu Jingshen's family woke up the following morning, the news was already everywhere. It was impossible to kill the rumors, and even if they did, it would be useless.

Yu Jingshen had been in the entertainment business for a long time; he was well aware that this was water army from looking at the messages that were being sent in the various threats and posts online. Still, he could do nothing as the netizens were all led astray.

Yu Bingqing was also full of indignation. This was her birth father, who would possibly seduce their own father? That was disgusting and disturbing, but because of her label as an adopted child, she could not yell out her grievances.

This was Xie Jingyu's aim. He wanted to pressure Yu Jingshen into taking the initiative to admit that Yu Bingqing was his biological daughter. Although it would not destroy his reputation, it would put a dent into it, as it would show that he was unfaithful to his previous wife when they were together.

Unfortunately, Yu Jingshen was a ruthless figure. He was not below abusing his ex-wife, even though she was dead already, so that day, he held a press conference to clarify the rumors.

Yu Huiyin had no clue that it was Xie Jingyu who was behind the pressure that had been emitted on Yu Jingshen, but she was well aware that someone was behind this action. However, she was immensely grateful towards whomever it was, and that afternoon, she was waiting in front of the TV where she was going to observe the press conference.

Just before the conference was starting, Yu Huiyin saw her phone ringing. The tag of 'Dearest Hubby' was displayed on the phone screen. Smiling slightly, she picked up the call.

"Hello, aren't you busy with work?" Yu Huiyin could not help but ask. Xie Jingyu seemed to be a very successful businessman, how could he possibly have time to call her in the middle of the day?

"I have some spare time now," he answered with his gentle and magnetic voice, which tickled her ear as it arrived through the speaker of the phone.

"What are you spending your time with?" Xie Jingyu asked again. He was well aware that the press conference would be held soon, but he was curious as to whether or not she was going to watch it. He had even ended a meeting early just to be able to call her.

"Someone has targeted that trashy father of mine," Yu Huiyin said happily, "he is trying to salvage the situation, and I am curious as to how he plans on doing that. I am a little worried, though; I have a feeling that he is going to do something that's low even for his standards."

"What do you mean?" Xie Jingyu was curious, but Yu Huiyin just sighed. "My mother is already dead. Pushing all the blame onto her is something he will definitely do."

"Do you think he will do something that low?" Xie Jingyu was shocked to hear Yu Huiyin have such an assumption, but upon thinking about what Yu Jingshen had done to her mother previously, it was not actually that excessive.

Contemplating for some time, he quickly ended the phone call, and made a string of calls to some media outlets he had ties with.

Many of their journalists were already at the venue ready to interview Yu Jingshen, but they were all stunned to get a text from their bosses saying that they had to make things ugly and difficult for Yu Jingshen. No matter what he said, they had to question it ruthlessly.

Unsure as to who this Yu Jingshen had offended, the journalists did not mind too much. They were told to be critical in everything they did, so even if they went slightly overboard, no one could blame them. After all, this was a juicy case.

Yu Huiyin was seated in the chair back in the living room of the modern manor belonging to Xie Jingyu. She had her entire body curled up on the couch, and she was feeling somewhat worried but happy at the same time.

She was worried about what her disgusting father might say, but happy to see him in such a troublesome position, and being forced to admit his real relationship with Yu Bingqing.

The truth was that Yu Bingqing was also very pleased with this. She had never been happy being considered an adopted daughter, she wanted the entire world to know that Yu Jingshen was her birth father, but to maintain his image, he had been unable to do so previously.

The TV was on the entertainment channel, and everyone who observed saw how the venue was being occupied by a flood of journalists, at the same time, Yu Jingshen, Yu Bingqing, Yu Changying, his son with the mistress that had turned into his wife, his agent, and his lawyer.

The light in the venue dimmed, and everyone was looking at the stage where they were seated, curious as to what Yu Jingshen planned on saying to turn this whole situation around.
