Chapter 28 - "Yes, I am Married"

The truth was that Old Man Han was not as accommodating as he seemed. He knew that when something seemed too good to be true, it usually was. So for Yu Huiyin to have gotten this job, there were definitely some parts that he was unaware of, especially when he was told that she would be living away from home.

But he was very shrewd. He knew that he could not pressure her out of fear of her just escaping the question. Don't be mistaken; when Yu Huiyin had decided to do something, she would do it with all her heart. Since she had already come up with such an idea, then it was obvious that she would go through with it to the end.

Yu Huiyin was also aware of her grandfather's personality, but as long as he did not ask questions, she did not care too much about his doubts. She was not willing to worry her family about her situation.

Yu Huiyin did not spend too much time chatting with her grandfather. She knew that the more she spoke, the more flaws she would expose.

"My temporary driver is outside; we need to go out shopping, so let us move on."

Old Man Han smiled and nodded his head. He was uncharacteristically obedient; it made her worried.

Old Man Han got ready, and together, the two of them left the worn-out flat. Outside was the car that did not seem to be suitable in this area of town.

Many people who were walking by were also sending long glances at the car, but no one had taken action against Assistant Song.

As assistant Song saw Old Man Han and Yu Huiyin leave the flat, he was slightly surprised. Although the clothes were old and clearly washed a lot, they were clean and tidy.

Assistant Song exited the car, opened the doors for Old Man Han and Yu Huiyin, and went to the front of the car.

"Where would you like to go?" He asked as he seated himself in the driver's seat.

"Are there any malls around which are more suited for the common citizen? Nothing too expensive, but with decent quality." Yu Huiyin had a lot of money compared to before, but she was not rich yet. She would not be able to buy things in the upper-class malls, but in the traditional malls, she should be able to get all the things they needed.

Assistant Song had already expected this, and he nodded his head. He drove the car towards the Clear River Mall; it was a relatively new mall in the Clear River District, and it was made affordable, with shops that focused on the more general public.

Old Man Han was unsure of how much money Yu Huiyin had earned, but he knew her well. She was a money-grubbing woman. She would never spend her money wantonly; she would only buy what was necessary.

They drove in silence, and the silence was making Yu Huiyin very nervous. She had expected that her grandfather would ask Assistant Song multiple questions, but he just greeted him and thanked him for driving them. He said nothing after this, which made both Yu Huiyin and Assistant Song uncomfortable.

Seeing their discomfort, Old Man Han smiled slightly. He had every intention of confusing them.

Soon they arrived at the mall. Assistant Song had by now realized why Yu Huiyin was so scared of her grandfather; he was indeed a terrifying figure.

Yu Huiyin was used to her grandfather's tricks, and even then, she was still scared because of them. Since he was not going to say anything, she ushered him into the shopping mall, closely followed by Assistant Song, who was sending text messages to Xie Jingyu, explaining the situation to him.

He could not help but lit a candle for Xie Jingyu in his heart. If this old man found out that his granddaughter had been tricked so severely, he would never like Xie Jingyu, and that would influence Yu Huiyin's view on him. It was better to be on good terms with Old Man Han.

Xie Jingyu was seated in board meetings the entire day, but every time his phone would beep, he would take it out, read the text, and reply. The many observing people were all shocked to see him put such importance on a few text messages.

But everyone knew that Xie Jingyu hated it when someone tried to get information on his private life. Hence no one asked him who it was.

Xie Jingyu was annoyed. Why did they not ask so that he could show off?

Since they did not ask about the messages, he decided to be even more direct. He reached into his bag and pulled some papers up from within, and made it seem coincidental that he pulled his wedding certificate out with it.

He pretended not to have seen it as he placed it all on the table, and the small red booklet was on the front of all the papers; everyone in the board meeting could not help but stare at it.

"Oh, look at me, I must have put my wedding certificate into the bag last night," Xie Jingyu said smilingly. His acting was very skillful, so all of them believed it was a mistake.

"CEO Xie is married?" One of them asked out of reflex, yet when the words had left his mouth, he felt like hitting himself. How could he possibly have asked that?

But contrary to his expectations, Xie Jingyu did not get mad but instead nodded his head with pride. "Yes. I have a wonderful wife."
