Chapter 415 End Of The First Half

Chapter 415  End Of The First Half

"Welcome back everyone, the second half is about to kick off now as we can see the players from both teams making their way to the pitch now."

Just like Jim said, the players from both teams were making their way to the pitch now with the atmosphere of the stadium returning to its liveliness.

Tereville City were the ones who started the match from the kick-off spot in the first half and that was the reason why Fredinho was the one standing over the ball now.

"Unique FC still have that early lead which I'm sure they won't be letting go of easily but Tereville City played quite well in the first half, this is the half that decides how everything turns out." Steve expressed.

"Yeah, let's see if Tereville City has what it takes to stop Unique FC."

It didn't take long before the referee blew his whistle after making sure that everything was ready, and as soon as Fredinho heard the whistle, he quickly pushed the ball to Merino who sent it rolling back to Martinez as soon as he got his foot on it.

"The second half is now in progress," Jim commented.

The home team weren't trying to rush anything now that the game just kicked and it would make sense if they decided not to try anything.

If they were like a team like Lesica United, they would be parking the bus now with that one-goal lead.

"Mateo," Jim said as soon as Mateo got his foot on the ball near the halfway line.

The winger feigned moving forward with the ball before pushing it back to Roland with a backheel pass.

"Roland."

Roland raced down the middle a little before he sent the ball rolling to Fredinho who played Merino through down the right wing as soon as he got his foot on the ball.

Merino got past the left winger blocking his path with a neat nutmeg which looked like it wasn't really intentional.

"Oh, he's through here."

The winger didn't waste time in sending the ball in as soon as he saw Fredinho and Minino making their way into the box.

Minino sprang up as soon as the ball came flying his way and he ended up beating the defender beside him to get his head on the ball.

The ball was sent flying a little to the right as the goalkeeper dived toward it, but there was no need for that as the ball ended up hitting the crossbar before flying out for a goal kick.

"Oh, that was so close!" Jim yelped.

"They've kicked off the second half with a brilliant chance. That should have been in the back of the net if Minino had been a bit more accurate." Steve expressed.

One thing was for sure, Unique FC were taking a different approach in this half.

In the first half, they didn't press Tereville City that much and gave them quite a lot of space, that was why the away team were able to do everything they did in the first half, but Norman seem to have figured things out and whenever he finds things out, he gives his team the tactics to counter it.

Unique FC were pressing them quite seriously here and Tereville City were starting to feel the overwhelming pressure which was starting to mess up their play now.

A mistimed pass was all it took for Ferran to get his foot on the ball and without hesitation, he fired the ball toward the goalpost.

Maybe he should have given a little thought to that as his effort was sent flying over the bar, it was close to hitting the crossbar though.

"Well, that's a wasted effort," Jim commented.

That little bit of freedom Tereville City had in midfield in the first half was no more as Minino and Ferran were no longer giving them the space to do anything.

They were just all over the place, especially Minino. He was quite quiet in the first half to the extent that the fans started wondering if anything was wrong with him but now, it looked like he was back to his normal hyper self.

Tereville City's right midfielder raced down the wing with the ball, and just before he could run into Ferran, he sent the ball flying over to his teammate on the other side, but that was a mistake as Minino zoomed in toward the area to grab the ball before it could get to it's intended destination.

"Oh, he should have added a little more elevation to that, they may end up paying dearly for that."

Minino raced down the wing with the ball and just as he was about to get close to the box, he sent the ball flying over to Mateo.

Mateo brought the ball down with his foot, and just before he could do anything with it, it was taken off his feet by the right back there and went over the line for a throw-in in the process.

The winger quickly picked up the ball and sent it flying into the box as soon as possible.

The ball was sent flying toward Fredinho who happened to be in a tough spot so he had to head it back toward Ferran.

Fortunately, the midfielder was in a really good spot, and as soon as he brought the ball down with his chest, he fired it toward the goalpost.

The ball curled toward the right side with a little bit of elevation and the goalkeeper failed to get to it as the ball ended up hitting the post before falling into the goalpost.

"He's smashed it right into the goalpost!" Jim exclaimed as the midfielder raced to the corner spot screaming at the top of his voice, and as soon as he got there he kicked the corner flag and ended up breaking it in the process.

"Well, I got the gist just a few minutes after the restart, it was inevitable." Steve expressed.

His teammates soon got to him and now they were celebrating in front of the fans.

After they were done with that and had to return for the game to continue, Ferran was met with a yellow card by the referee for breaking the corner flag of course but he wasn't even bothered by it and kept cheering on as he kept moving toward the halfway line.

At the start of the match, the fans of both teams were trying to drown out each other's voice with none of them exactly gaining the upper hand, but right now, it really felt like Unique FC fans were starting to drown the voice of the away fans in theirs and that was also reflecting on the pitch.

Looking at the pitch, it genuinely looked like Unique FC just went easy on Tereville City in the first half, the away team were finding it pretty hard to find their place on the pitch now because Unique just had them beat in every department now.

The away fans had to put most of their manpower into defense to prevent Unique FC from getting any more goals against them.

That was working somewhat for them because they managed to stop a couple of chances that would have most likely become goals but Unique FC kept pressing aggressively.

Mateo was racing down the wing with the ball and just as he got closer to the box he cut down the middle before playing Fredinho through.

That was a swift pass from the winger to get the ball to Fredinho, but before he could do anything with it, it was quickly swept off his feet by the defender there.

He was brought down in the process and raised his hand calling for a foul but it didn't look like the referee was going to give it.

They managed to get a couple of shots but most of them was what could be described as so close yet so far.

Tereville City also managed to get a couple of chances during the few times they got the possession but the only two that managed to get to Dave weren't even close to being threats for him.

With the ninetieth minute drawing near, it looked like two to nil was going to be the final scoreline but Unique FC wanted a third.

Roland took off down the wing after receiving the ball from Dave.

He didn't go far before he sent the ball flying toward Minino who pushed it forward a little with the help of Ferran.

Ferran had to send the ball back to him after losing it near the edge of the box.

Minino tried to send it in toward Fredinho with a lob as soon as he got hold of it but that didn't work out quite well for them as the defender there was able to block the ball with his head.

The ball fell to the feet of one of the midfielders toward the right and without much thinking about it, he sent the ball flying toward Nick to start a counterattack.

The ball flew in from the top as Adolf and Martinez tried to stop the striker but he was able to get past both of them and was racing toward the ball now.

"Oh, this could be their moment."

However, before the striker could get to the ball, Dave who was just outside his box quickly closed up on it and quickly moved away from the striker with it without making contact with him.

The atmosphere was somewhat quiet as soon as that ball was played through but just as Dave came through to thwart the plan, the fans burst into cheers.

The would probably still win the match even though the striker had done something with that, but winning with a clean sheet was the best feeling.

"Wow, that's some speed from Dave, I think he was further away from the ball," Jim said.

"Yeah, he was a few centimeters further away."

"And yet he managed to get there first. I don't even know if this dude is a goalkeeper or an extra man for Unique FC, he has everything to be that man if you understand what I'm saying." Jim expressed.

The goalkeeper had to send the ball rolling to Roland, and as soon as the left-back got his foot on the ball, the referee blew his whistle thrice to bring the match to an official end.
