Chapter 370 Keep Going And Don't Slip Off

After handing Lazio that handsome loss, league football returned.

Unique FC were still behind Dynamo FC and Supreme United as they were still in third place, but there was a chance that all that could change very soon.

Matchday eleven was the match day where Dynamo FC were going to face Supreme United and that meant that one of those teams was going to drop points on that match day.

Unique FC on the other hand were facing Rojo Sturm United a team that had just been promoted to the Bilbeth Premier League that season.

That match started out quite tough for Norman's boys in the first half and for that reason, they ended up going in for the break with neither side being able to get a goal.

Unique FC controlled that match obviously, but they just couldn't find the back of the net.

After receiving some scolding from Norman in the locker room, they came in for the second half.

Norman's scolding seem to have worked out quite well as they ended up getting the ball into the back of the net just two minutes after the restart.

It was a lob from Mateo all the way from the kick-off spot.

Fred got to the ball fast enough and lobbed it over the goalkeeper and into the goalpost with his head.

Rojo Sturm got a couple of good chances but none of them were enough to make Dave wary as the goalpost was just chilling in his goalpost most of the time.

Unique FC controlled the match for quite a well without being able to find the back of the net again until the fifty-ninth minute.

Mateo raced down the left wing with the ball after receiving it from Ferran.

The winger suddenly stopped and got the ball past the defender chasing.

He humiliated that defender right there before he got into the box and sent the ball rolling right where Fred was going to be.

There were a lot of players heading toward the ball at that time, but Fred was able to get to it right on time with a slide.

All he needed was both of his feet to shove the ball into the goalpost and there was nothing the goalkeeper could do about it.

"Gooallllll! It's his second!"

Fred let out a scream as he ran to the side and did quite an impressive flip before his teammates could get to him.

"It looks like he has been trying to improve his finishing and that could be the result right there, he's only missed two chances so far in this match and they weren't even his fault." Steve expressed.

The match continued with Rojo Sturm looking quite lackluster now that it was pretty clear that they were going to lose.

Unique FC tried to use that opportunity to rain down goals on them, but that didn't work out quite well for them as they weren't able to get another goal until the eighty ninth minute.

There had been a couple of substitutions now and that meant that Fredinho was now on the pitch to replace Fred.

The ball was sent in from the corner spot by Ferran and was flying toward Mateo now.

Mateo was able to get his head on the ball but because he had another player right in front of him that blocked his view at that time, he didn't know exactly where he headed the ball and it didn't look like he went for the goalpost.

Fortunately, the ball was sent flying toward Fredinho at that time, and because he wasn't in a good position to kick it, he decides to try something.

With an overhead kick, he sent the ball flying toward the bottom right-hand side of the goalpost, the goalkeeper tried to get to it, but he wasn't able to do so on time as the ball hit the post before going into the goalpost.

"What a massive strike from Fredinho! It's their third!"

Fredinho just let out a sigh before crashing down right there inside the box.

There was nothing Rojo Sturm could do about that scoreline and because of that, it remained like that until the referee blew his whistle to bring the match to an end.

"There's the whistle, it is all over," Jim said. "It was theirs right from the start despite not being able to get a goal in the first half and they made sure to seal it off with a bang in the second half, that's three points in the bag for them."

"Mateo just went full creator mode in this match, coming up with a hat trick of assists, the first player to accomplish that feat this season." Steve expressed. "He's now tied on goals with Roland after the striker managed to get a goal against Dynamo FC and now he's also tied with Frank on assists, looks like he wants both awards this season, a greedy but bold move."

After getting to the locker room, the players found out that the match between Dynamo FC and Supreme United ended in a two two draw which meant that both teams ended up dropping points which was quite good for them

These results meant that things were quite close now.

Dynamo FC were only ahead of them with one point now and Supreme United were just ahead of them with three points, anything could happen from this moment onward.

Any slip-off from both teams and Unique FC would zoom right past them but they also had to make sure not to make any mistakes or they were going to fall far behind again and start struggling to catch up again.

________ ________

Matchday twelve came by pretty fast and today was the day that Unique FC were going to be facing Troham United.

They had a match against Villarreal on Thursday which meant that they had only a day to rest before their match against the Spanish team.

It was a tight schedule for them which meant that Norman had to choose his squad wisely to avoid losing any of his important players to injury.

That was the reason why a couple of his elite players were missing from the starting eleven.

Mateo was replaced by Fredinho, Ferran had Edward come in for him and he knew Frankie would do a good job replacing Minino.

It was going to be a tough match given the fact that Troham United were doing quite well this season and were sitting in seventh place at the moment.

It started out as a tough match as expected with Dave coming in clutch to clear two mistakes from the defense that could have easily been translated to goals if it weren't for him.

Throughout most of the first half, it looked like Unique FC were constantly being driven into a corner but it was a good thing their defense was doing a good job in preventing any goal from happening with Dave coming to deal with the ones they couldn't deal with.

Unique FC weren't able to find their foot in that match until the forty-fourth minute when something happened.

Roland raced down the middle with the ball before he sent it flying over to Frankie.

Frankie brought the ball down with his chest before he quickly sent it rolling to Merino who raced down the middle with it before passing it to Fred.

Fred got hold of the ball and quickly pushed it back to Edward who sent it rolling back to Edward.

Edward moved a little to the right with the ball before laying it off for Fredinho who quickly raced into the box with it.

As a striker, his dribbling ability wasn't that great but he had that speed which he used to overpower the wingback and get into the box.

As soon as he got near the goalpost and found that space, he sent the ball rolling toward the middle.

Frankie was racing toward the ball at that time with two defenders right around him but he was able to pull through them and send the ball into the goalpost with his right foot.

"Frankie, Goaaalllllll!!" Jim exclaimed as the midfielder quickly raced toward Frankie and put his arm around his shoulder as they both raced to the sidelines.

"They've looked out of place since the start of the match but when they got that chance they didn't blow it, they're one goal up with the break coming up soon." Steve expressed.

Despite Mateo coming in later on in the second half, Unique FC weren't able to get another goal but things also became tougher for Troham United.

That was the way the second half ended goalless as either side were able to find the back of the net but that wasn't a problem for Unique FC as they still emerged victorious thanks to that first-half last-minute goal from Frankie.

It was another three points in the bag for Norman and his boys.

And as if that wasn't enough, the players returned to the locker room to find out something quite interesting.

Dynamo FC lost two goals to one against Ballena United and Supreme United just managed to grab a one-goal victory in the last minute against Lesica United.

Those results meant that they were now in second place just three points behind Supreme United.

"I can't believe the title race has gotten this close for us with twelve matches played," Roland said.

'I never really expected it, but things seem to be going quite well for us this season.' Dave said subconsciously.

<Yeah, all you have to do is keep going and don't slip off>
