Chapter 259 Directional Quest

After having breakfast and chatting with each other for a little while, everybody went to bed.

The time displayed on the wall clock and every other thing that had time on it was 9:15 PM and normally, Emma wouldn't be asleep by now but she had been going to bed quite early recently.

Dave watched her sleep peacefully for a while before he slowly turned his gaze to the ceiling.

A certain thought found its way to his mind as a smile slowly found its way to his face.

'Since Mrs. Smith is going to be here for a while, I might as well use it to my advantage.'

<How do you mean?>

'You know I haven't properly tried out that hyper ball blaster since I got it, I'm going to give it a spin tomorrow and maybe try to take down all the quests, I've only completed one quest from it so far.' He said subconsciously.

<That's nice and maybe you could spend a little more time in the gym too, your physicality has been dropping since you started spending less time at the gym>

'Really? I don't feel like anything dropped from me.'

<You won't feel and you're not noticing it because you're not a player who runs around the pitch, your level of physicality is good enough for a goalkeeper but you'll have to get it up again if you want to keep taking those shots of yours effectively>

'Okay, I see, I guess I should add spending more time at the gym on my schedule for tomorrow.'

<Yeah, you should>

The goalkeeper stared at the ceiling for a while before he began to doze off, but before getting overwhelmed completely by sleep, he decided to do something first.

[ Dream control: activated ]

About ten minutes into his sleep, he found himself inside the endless white space with Catherine standing in front of him.

"Hey, Cat, what's up?" The goalkeeper said.

"Let's get straight to it, there's no time to waste here." She said as the stadium began to appear around them along with the football pitch and then the goalpost which Dave was standing in between the goalpost.

After that, the three non-existent footballers appeared at the edges of the box with a ball trapped under their right foot.

"One second, here we go." The goalkeeper said before taking a deep breath.

The player in the middle quickly sent the ball flying toward the right side of the goalpost with just a little bit of elevation.

Dave had to jump and stretch his body really well to get to that ball and keep it out, but before he could get up from the floor, the other two balls had been shot into the net.

"One-second interval to keep out three balls, I know I said this during the last one and ended up completing it, but this is truly the definition of impossible." He said after getting up from the floor.

"I'm not going to try and talk you out of thinking like that, but you are going to continue doing it until you get it," Catherine said.

"Of course, what else can I do while I am here, even if I don't get it, doing it will help me improve my reflexes more." The goalkeeper said.

He continued trying and trying but he could only keep out one and before.

It went on for about forty-five minutes and now it was time for the goalkeeper to head back home.

"We'll try again tonight," Catherine said before everything in the area began to disintegrate along with his body until his consciousness finally returned to his body.

The goalkeeper opened his eyes and quickly checked his phone to see that the time was 6:30 AM.

He looked toward Emma to see that she was still fast asleep and she wasn't hugging him or anything like that which was good for him.

He slowly stepped down from the bed and slid into his running outfit and boots before quickly making his way out of the room and downstairs.

He picked up the bunch of keys on the table in the living room which consisted of his car keys, the key to the house, the key to the garage, and a bunch of other keys. He wasn't planning to come back to the house until he was done.

'Ten kilometers will do fine.' He said subconsciously as he headed down the road.

<Yeah, ten kilometers is okay>

"Here I go then." He said before taking off.

After about forty-five minutes, the goalkeeper returned from his run and now it was time to head over to the gym.

"I'll stay here for two hours and thirty minutes and will be training with five pieces of equipment only." He said as he made his way into the garage.

<That's thirty minutes for each one>

'Exactly.'

After completing his gym session of two hours and thirty minutes, it was now time for the last training exercise for the day.

He rested at the garage for a while before he pushed out the hyper ball blaster to the lawn.

After pushing out the hyper ball blaster, he went back into the garage to get the items for setting up the goalpost and the bag of balls.

'There's going to be a lot of quests to complete with this ball blaster.' The goalkeeper said subconsciously as he fixed up the goalpost.

He had decided to add a net to the goalpost to make ball retrieval easy for him whenever the ball goes into the goalpost and that was what he was attaching to the goalpost now.

<I don't know about that>

'What do you mean?'

<It's just that you've gotten a lot better since you got that ball blaster, those quests may no longer apply to you>

'Really?'

<That may most likely be the case>

'Well, there's only one way to find out.' He said subconsciously before making his way to the bag of balls.

He made sure to plug the blaster in last night and he was glad he did because the battery had run down completely, but it was fully recharged now.

He opened the bag and brought out the balls before he began to put them into the blaster.

After filling the blaster with all sixteen, he got up on his foot as it was now time to set everything up.

[ Directional quest received ]

'Directional quest?'

[ Set the blaster to switch to the next level after firing out three balls ]

The goalkeeper was quite stunned as he couldn't bring himself to comprehend what was going on right now.

<Just do what it tells you>

'Okay.' He said subconsciously before doing exactly what the system told him to do. 'Now what?'
