Chapter 6 – Burned

We opened the door and we were in a different world.

“Wow, this is wonderful.”

“It’s really amazing…”

Me and Miyuki-san were impressed by the room.

“…But is this really okay?”

“Hmm? It’s okay, don’t worry about the money.”

“No, there’s that too, but…”

“Ah, I’m sorry. I made you lie, saying you were staying at a friend’s house.”

“No, that’s fine, but…”

I looked at Miyuki-san again.

Usually, she is a beautiful woman, but… She looks fresh again in a different space.

Either way, she’s too good of a woman for me.

No, from what standpoint am I talking about…?

“Phew, it’s a bit tiring indeed.”

“Ah, yes.”

“Shall we sit down and have a rest?”

“Y-Yes.”

We settled down in our seats.

“Ah, do you want some tea?”

“Yes…”

“I’ll have it made then.”

“Ah, I’ll do it.”

“No need to be shy.”

Miyuki-san got up and put water in an electric kettle to boil.

“I really enjoyed our date today.”

“Eh? Ah, yes. Me too.”

“It’s been a really long time since I’ve been on a date like this…”

Miyuki-san stared off into the distance again.

I feel tingling all over again…

“…Was he a nice man?”

“What?”

“Miyuki-san’s…husband…”

The other person is deceased, so I tried to be considerate, but I wanted to ask clearly.

“…Yes, he was. He was what you would call an elite.”

“Ah… Well, your house is magnificent.”

“Basically, he’s kind, generous and everyone says he’s the ideal husband.”

“…I see.”

It’s kind of frustrating… But why am I feeling like this?

“But even though I should’ve felt fulfilled, I always felt something is missing somewhere…”

“Was it because…he worked too much?”

“Well, he was busy with work…but he had time for us as a couple.”

“As a couple…”

Is it despicable that those words alone make me think of something a little disgusting?

“…Maybe that wasn’t satisfying enough, to be honest.”

“Eh…?”

“That guy, I mean, he was so nonchalant… It was kind of like he was running away from me.”

“Running away…?”

“Maybe he was cheating on me…”

“C-Cheating…?”

I couldn’t believe it.

He already had a nice wife like Miyuki-san.

At the same time, I was angry.

“No way… Why though?”

“It couldn’t be helped. I’m such a boring woman…”

“I can’t believe you’re a boring woman… I’m having a lot of fun with Miyuki-san.”

“Naoyuki-kun…”

“All this time, my heart is pounding…”

No, no more. At this rate…

These words shouldn’t be spun.

But…

“…Really?”

Miyuki-san gave me a serious look.

“Do you think of me that way?”

“M-Miyuki-san…”

We looked at each other.

“…Yes, I think of you that way.”

When I nodded, Miyuki-san looked down at once.

“Then, with me–”

Beep!

“Kya… Oh, looks like the water is boiling.”

Miyuki-san rushed to the kettle.

I was briefly in a state of despondency.

“Here, have some tea.”

“T-Thank you very much.”

“It’s hot, so be careful.”

I sipped slowly as I was told.

But it was still hot and lightly burned my tongue.

But I didn’t care so much about that pain.

All my senses were now focused on Miyuki-san, who was standing right in front of me.
