Chapter 286 286: Cowardly Snake (2)

Considering that the snake's cultivation rank is a cycle higher than Rezen it shouldn't be afraid of him and instead attack with the intent to kill. However, this snake was simply a coward. It didn't bother to reply as it jumped down from the table as fast as it could causing some of the dried leaves to fall

When the snake landed on the floor, it merged with the shadows and it vanishes from Rezen's vision. Even when he tried to use his spiritual senses to find the snake he failed to locate it

"The snakes I saw in the desert have earthen brown or yellowish brown scales but this one was completely black in color" Rezen thought while rubbing his chin

His eyes continue to search for the slightest bit of clue on the snake's location but he simply failed to locate it. Giving up, Rezen spoke in his head

"Ivy, find that snake" Rezen ordered and a formless power spreads in the entire room to search for that snake

Rezen was not disappointed as while he does not have the ability to locate the snake, Ivy is different

A blue arrow appeared on Rezen's vision and it was poiting at a shelf. The shelf's location was on the opposite side where Rezen is and it was also the furthest area in this room from where he was standing on

"Just how cowardly is this snake to not think of fighting and just hide even when it has a higher cultivation rank than me? It even hid in a way that makes me think it wants to go as far as possible from me"

Rezen internally shook his head as he held his magic wand. This wand has a slightly better quality than the lowest quality magic wands

His current magic wand was thicker than what he previously used and it wasn't a simple stick anymore. At the tip of the magic wand was a magic stone and this wand has the ability to slightly increase the might of Rezen's spell

The magic wand is not the best but it does offer greater enhancement than the wands the city provided for free and it would do for now

Rezen gathered his mana at the tip of his wand and the blue stone glowed. He shot a missile of mana to where the snake was hiding

The magic missile hit the shadow of a certain book and from it emerged the snake to dodge

"H-how did he find me?" The snake thought after it was forced out from its hiding spot but its love for its life was too great as it merged with the shadows one more time to hide again

However, that is futile since Ivy could easily locate the snake and Rezen fired another magic missile

"It's useless, I can find where you are hiding. Come out and talk to me if you don't..."

Rezen spoke with a threatening tone before he fired another magic missile. This magic missile was faster and stronger than before and it blasted to pieces an entire wooden shelf where the snake was hiding

In fear that it would become a second shelf, the snake emerged from the shadows while trembling

"H-human leave me alone! I-I d-didn't do anything to you!"

The voice of the snake would make people think that it was not a snake that was talking with how fluent it was even while it was stuttering from fear

"I won't kill you but you have to answer my questions" Rezen replied before waving his magic wand

Five magic missiles formed around him. The mana fluctuations from those missiles almost scared the snake to death. It should have the ability to resist considering its cultivation rank but it was too much of a coward

"D-don't kill me! I will answer all your questions! I will do my best!" The snake said fearfully and Rezen nodded his head

"First of all, I want to know if there are any treasures here. Don't lie to me, I would know if you were lying to me" Rezen said while still maintaining the magic missiles around him

In this case, Rezen is the one that was lying. He doesn't have the ability to know whether the snake is lying or not but seeing how cowardly it was he thinks that this kind of threat would work

"Treasure" the snake repeated and Rezen could see that it actually rolled its eyes at him

"Should I roast this snake to death?" Rezen asked himself while feeling offended by the snake's eye movement

"Bah! That was what I thought too when I discovered this place but I can't find anything useful except for the fact that it was hidden. Do you know how disappointed I was after not seeing anything worthy? I'm telling you now, this place is trash!"

"The only thing good about this place is that even if those terrifying humans came here, they couldn't discover this place. We could only enter this place by using the secret mechanism and this place became my home. It saves me from those mindless beasts and while inside I don't have to worry about my safety that is until now. Anyway, how did you human even enter and learned about this place?"

"Even the humans that I sensed are many times stronger than you are failed to discover this place. This place is supposed to be my safe haven but now it was discovered by a human. Argh, this is my unlucky day!"

Rezen's ears almost bled with how talkative this snake was. He only asked if there was a treasure in this room since that is the only reason why he even 'risked' himself to enter it despite the presence of a 3rd cycle magic beast. He didn't expect that this snake would start rambling nonstop the moment he asked one question

In irritation, Rezen used one of the magic missiles to hit the snake causing it to groan in pain

"Ah! Human! What did I do? Do you think I'm lying? I was not! Your ability to know when a person is lying must be broken!" The snake complained while rubbing its tail against its body

"No, it was not because of that. I hit you because you are talking too much and you're annoying" Rezen said with a shrug of his shoulder and the snake was offended by that

"What?! I simply answered your question why are you this unreasonable?" The snake said in a wronged tone as if Rezen just bullied it

In return, Rezen had his magic missiles move a bit to threaten the snake and it worked

"Ha ha ha... I-I was wrong!" The snake admitted before putting its tail to its mouth as if it was shutting itself

"Ivy, is there really no treasure in this room?" Rezen asked in disappointment. He thought he had hit the jackpot after entering a hidden place but if this place has no treasure then it was useless

The room after all only has some books and various items that deteriorated already thanks to the passing of time

"Come to think of it I shouldn't have destroyed the books. There might be a secret special manual amongst them" Rezen thought in regret. He would hit his head into the wall if he did destroyed a special manual

eaglesnovɐ1,сoМ "I cannot detect any treasure but Master must not 100% rely on the system. The farm's current state is still very weak and Ivy's scanning ability is not omnipotent" Ivy loyally intoned and Rezen sighed in disappointment

"Is there really nothing here?" He muttered to himself but unwilling to give up that easily, he retrieved his only remaining fortune fruit and consumed it while thinking of what he wanted to happen which was naturally to find something that would help him attain his goal

"You, snake, help me to search this place thoroughly. If you notice anything the slightest bit abnormal inform me immediately" Rezen ordered and the snake that doesn't want to die from this human's hand obeyed him helplessly

Rezen let the snake search every nook and cranny of the room while he turned his focus on the books on the shelves

"Alchemy? These are books about alchemy specifically potion making" Rezen's eyes lit up but soon he was disappointed

The books were nothing special and are just your common alchemy books. Even the public libraries of the City of Hope also has these books and Rezen already read some of them

The next thing he checked was the various items on the other shelves and Rezen recognized some of them as potion ingredients but they already deteriorated too much to be of any use. They are the same as worthless

Rezen could only hope that the fortune fruit would help him in his search that is if there is really anything in this hidden room that would help him achieve his goal
