Rezen retrieved the pot he use when making potions and he filled half of it with water

He laid his ingredients on the table where he placed the pot and to not waste the precious ingredients, only a single portion was left on the table

The chances of Rezen succeeding in creating his potions are still low. If he was unlucky, he has to try several or even ten times to create one potion. And even if he is lucky, it would still take him a few tries

It was not uncommon for explosions to occur whenever the creation of a potion failed

If explosions occurred then that would ruin the ingredients laid on the table. Although Rezen has more than enough ingredients for his personal usage, it is still not good to waste them in that way

After adjusting his mental state, Rezen placed his palm above the pot. Using simple magic, he boiled the water on the top

The water soon bubbled and steam rose. With the aid of magic, it didn't last long before the water reached the boiling point

Doing this would burn at least a small portion of the water's impurities

After boiling the water, the supplementary ingredients floated in the air

Alchemists generally are Spirit Mages and that is because in many cases, a strong soul is needed. Between Body Mages and Spirit Mages, the latter generally has the stronger and more refined soul

On the tips of Rezen's fingers, invisible threads of his soul power came out and the threads wrapped the supplementary ingredients for the mana elixir

Soon, the ingredients were broken down at a speed visible to the eyes until only droplets of the ingredients' essences remained

These drops of essences although not a hundred percent pure are still very pure considering that the ingredients that Rezen has at the very least have 90% purity

Using these kinds of Spirit Plants, even the most untalented alchemists when they succeed would be able to create potions with over 90% purity

Now that Rezen has reached the Junior Rank, even the way he concocts potions has changed

In the past, he would simply place the ingredients on the pot and try to tear them as small as possible. But now that he is a Junior Mage and his soul is strong enough, he could easily extract the essences of the ingredients using his soul power

Of course, this is only possible when using ingredients of this caliber. If Rezen were to be asked to extract the essence of a Spirit Plant at the 4th cycle, even if he used all of his soul power, he still wouldn't succeed

Rezen is already familiar with this initial step and he dropped the droplets into the pot before stirring the water with magic

The water in the pot soon changes its color into gray but this is still far from being the mana elixir

After taking care of the supplementary ingredients which was the easy part, Rezen turned his attention to the main ingredients. The first one is the vismian grass followed by the leaves of the Hedil Plant

With a wave of Rezen's hand, a blade of vismian grass floated in the air before being covered by his soul power threads

The difficulty of only extracting the essence of the Vismian Grass is much harder compared to extracting the essences of the supplementary ingredients

Rezen gave all of his focus to that single blade of vismian grass but it really was not easy

In the end, instead of extracting the essence, the vismian grass broke down and its essence turned into fog that wafted in the air before vanishing

It was a failure on Rezen's part but he is no stranger to failure when it comes to alchemy. Without thinking about it that much, Rezen used another vismian grass followed by another. Finally, on his third try, Rezen succeeded and he let the drop of essence continue to float in the air before turning his attention to the other main ingredient

Rezen did the same thing to the leaves of hedil plant, and after some failure, he succeeded in time

Extracting the essence is hard but that is more so for combining them!

The two drops of essences with Rezen's control slowly met and they seems to be repelling each other. However, Rezen continues to use his soul power to combine the two

If he simply drop the two different essences on the pot, the pot would definitely explode. As such, he has to combine the two first before dropping them in the pot

However, even when Rezen was doing his best, the end result was still a failure. In the end, the two essences exploded. Fortunately, Rezen was in time. He covered the essences with a barrier to contain the explosion and prevent it from destroying anything

Even experienced and talented alchemists could fail in potion-making, what more for the newbie Rezen?

This result didn't make his heart feel heavy and Rezen just started redoing this step until he would succeed

A flying ship could be seen in the sky, swimming with the clouds. This flying ship has the logo of a wand and a sword crossing each other

The exterior was painted white and not even a speck of dirt could be seen

On the deck of the ship, tens of people gathered and most of them were admiring the scenery of clouds

It was not every day that they could ride on a flying ship and reach this high of an altitude. As such, many of them can't help but admire the fantastic view

These people are either wearing magic robes, heavy armor, light armor, leather armor, or more casual-looking clothes

They are the mages from the City of Hope and they are given a mission. They are to convince the different tribes scattered in the lands to join the City of Hope

Of course, although Guardian's order was to persuade and not force the tribes, these people might not listen to him although all of them respected and revered him

This is because these people are commissioned by the Elders of the Guardian Council. They have to bring as many tribal people as possible. If they have to use force, they are permitted!

The Guardian might not want to force the tribes but he could only turn a blind eye even if the tribes are forced

This matter after all involves all the Elders of the Council. At most, he could punish the mages that received the mission while scolding the Elders. If the Guardian wants to heavily punish all the Elders, even for someone like him, that is impossible

As such, in this recruitment mission, some people might bleed to death

Standing on the railings of the ship, a particular mage could be seen. He is wearing an armor that would indicate that he is most likely a Body Mage but his left arm which should be made up of flesh and blood actually looks like a translucent blue arm

This person is none other than Wermon. His battle against the Wicked Masks Beast costs him dearly

The loss of a limb could still be made up by condensing his mana into the shape of an arm

By doing so, at the very least, he would have a limb that could do what a normal arm could do

However, the hole in his chest along with the more serious injuries on the last clash with the beast was an entirely different thing. It damaged his vitality greatly to the point that he was forced to retire as a Military Mage

He was given compensation but Wermon doesn't want to become another useless retired soldier that are only mobilized when there was no other choice

He still wishes to contribute greatly to the City of Hope and after learning about the Guardian's plan, he volunteered for this mission

Many city people looked down on the members of the scattered tribes. They all think that those people are barbaric and ignorant

In the City of Hope, society and etiquette are developed while the scattered tribes are still the same rough people that only care about food and safety, resulting in the discrimination

However, while there are many people that despise the tribal people, there are still those that are neutral or would at least give them the respect that should normally be given to others. Wermon is one of them

The Guardian's life story is known basically to everyone in the City of Hope. In the past, there was no City of Hope. All humans lived in small to big tribes until the Guardian created the first and still only city of humans

Since the Guardian is originally a person of a tribal society yet reached where he is now, are tribal people really as useless as many believed?

Wermon doesn't think so. Even though there is a very small chance, Wermon wishes to discover another talent from the small tribes reaching the level of the Guardian
