Chapter 249 249: Junior Rank

Winter finally arrived and snow blanketed the Drakery Forest. Many magic beasts went into hibernation, making the forest safer but also more dangerous at the same time

After calming himself, Rezen opened his eyes and stood up. His eyes were burning with resolve as he controlled the mana stored at his Elixir Field

On Rezen's feet, a mystical golden magic circle formed. This is the magic circle that would enable him to communicate with the universe and 'inform' it that he wishes to advance

Soon, Rezen started releasing all the mana from his elixir field causing swirling blue energies to flicker on his body

Body Mages when advancing would cause their mana to rampage on their physical bodies and if they succeeded, the blessing of mana would dawn upon them. It was like their body is a piece of steel and they have to melt and hammer them with the help of the universe to temper them and make them more durable. In the end, aside from their Elixir Field, Body Mages would also possess mana flowing inside their physical body

The way that Spirit Mages advance is similar but instead of tempering their physical bodies, what they strengthen was their elixir field and soul. They have way more mana on their elixir field than Body Mages

However, both sides have their pros and cons. Body Mages might have a lower amount of mana but they could use magic faster considering that their physical bodies also contain mana

Spirit Mages have to extract mana from their elixir field first to use magic and that would take up more time. Hence, the reason why Spirit Mages prefer attacking from a distance is to give themselves enough time to use magic

Since Ivy hinted to Rezen that his future enemies might be the whole universe itself, he cannot just choose to be a Body or Spirit Mage

He has to walk on both paths and become a Deviant but since he cannot become both a Body Mage and Spirit Mage at the same time, Rezen chose one of the two first

One of his goals is to resurrect his parents. Considering that Spirit Mages are experts at magic that are more complex, Rezen chose to become a Spirit Mage first

Whether one chose to become a Body or Spirit Mage, they could still become a Deviant. It's just that once a mage decided to walk on both paths, advancing in the cycle is way harder

If Rezen is a 1st cycle Spirit and Body Mage, just to advance to the 2nd cycle as a Spirit Mage might be as hard as reaching the 3rd cycle. And if Rezen wants his Body Mage path to also reach the 2nd cycle then the difficulty might only be a little bit lower than reaching the 4th cycle

That is the reason why even though everyone could be a Deviant Mage, most of them only chose one of the two paths. Luck, resources, and talent, any of the three couldn't be lacking if a mage wants to be a successful Deviant

However, once they succeeded, the rewards are not lacking. Sweeping the floor with a mage at or even above their rank is easy!

After Rezen extracted all the mana he has from his elixir field, he suddenly reabsorbed all of his mana

Generally, the path and advancement of a Spirit Mage are harder and more dangerous. After all, what they are attacking when advancing is their soul!

It was easier to remain conscious when a person has a wrecked body rather than a wrecked soul!

Fortunately, Rezen consumed the Holy Sun Water before. His body purity reached 98% that not many people could achieve

He also has enough mana control and knowledge to advance and he soon reached the Junior Rank smoothly

However, this time, Rezen is not the recipient anymore but the Mystic Gems!

These gems absorbed the blessing of the universe and Rezen felt like his affinity for certain types of magic has increased

He brought more than ten Mystic Gems with him and Rezen can sense that his talent in magic that has something to do with those gems increased

​ Of course, maybe because this was just the advancement from the apprentice rank to the Junior Rank that's why the increase wasn't much. It might have something to do with the level of the blessing that Rezen received which is the lowest of all due to his low rank

Still, this was a great thing. It proved that Rezen's farm is more mystical and mysterious than he expected

It could actually trigger a second blessing of the universe and improve itself that also directly benefited Rezen!

In the future, if he reaches higher cycles, would Rezen's talent in those magic further improve? That could make up for his lacking talent
