Chapter 614 - Murder

Yun Xuan held the gun against the man's temple. It was a much more reliable weapon than her belt.

However, she still kept her eye of caution open. This move saved her life.

The man didn't just have a gun as his only weapon. He had a knife too, which he took out swiftly.

Yun Xuan fired the gun out of reflex. The driver's head fell onto the steering wheel, making the car sway violently.

Yun Xuan pushed it off the steering wheel and steadied the car, driving farther away from the group of hooligans.

However, she was bound to get tired soon. It was not easy to drive while leaning on the driver's seat from behind. Not only that, the man's foot that was stepping on the accelerator weakened and let go. The car slowed down to a stop. It would be too troublesome to push that man off the driver's seat, so she chose this moment to jump off the car and run into a street with a lot of human traffic.

Phoenix Apartments wasn't far away. When she was sure that the ruffians definitely wouldn't follow her thanks to the human traffic, she ran all the way to her unit. Thank goodness she was not wearing high heeled shoes.

She entered her house, panting and gasping.

"Xuanxuan, what happened to you?" Xia Rou was startled when she saw her rush in. 

Yun Xuan leaned against the wall, trying to catch her breath. Luckily Yun Feng had fallen asleep or he would be frightened seeing her like this.

The events that just happened started to sink in. Did she just kill that driver?

'I killed someone' she mumbled.

Xia Rou was worried when she saw how pale she looked. There was even a large stain of fresh blood on her arm.  "Are you alright?"

In the next second, she threw herself into Xia Rou's arms, tears suddenly gushing out of her eyes. "Aunty… I think I killed someone."

"What?" Xia Rou was shocked.

She calmed down her senses and held Yun Xuan's shoulders, leading her to the sofa. "Xuanxuan tell me, what happened?"

Yun Xuan's shoulders shook as sob after sob left her mouth. "He…he tried to kidnap me and… and…"

Xia Rou patted her back. She was hiccupping from crying a lot. "Calm down first. I'll pour you a glass of water."

Yun Xuan drunk all the water in huge swigs and gave the glass back to Xia Rou.

She was a bit calm now, so she explained what had happened.

"We should call the police." Xia Rou said when she had recalled the whole thing.

"No! Aunty, please don't call the police. I will go to jail. If I go to jail, what will happen to my baby?"

Xia Rou patted her back. "Relax… you will not go to jail. It was all for self-defense and it's still early so the police can retrieve the evidence to clear your name. However if we don't report it early enough, you might get into trouble." 

Seeing that she was still unwilling, Xia Rou coaxed her gently. "I can guarantee that you will not go to jail. If that happens, I will take responsibility." 

"Thank you aunty." Yun Xuan hugged Xia Rou, happy that she did not think it was her fault. 

After making sure that Yun Xuan had completely calmed down, Xia Rou called her husband and explained the matter. 

"Why are you helping that child? I thought you hated people from the Yun family?" Lin Zhou was as curious as anyone could be. 

"Because I like her. Why can't I help her?" 

Unable to refute her logic, Lin Zhou called someone from the police department.

Meanwhile, Yun Xuan was deep in thought. Those hooligans definitely didn't intend to kill her. 

If they did, she would be dead by now. She was driving while standing and that would give them such a perfect opportunity to shoot her right in the spine. 

When she got off the car, they had a perfect chance to kill her but they instead chased after her like lunatics as she dashed onto a busy street where they couldn't do anything. Not to mention, she had killed one of them. It didn't make sense that they they spared her. 

There was only one possibility: their boss specifically wanted her alive and unharmed. It was obviously not for a ransom because she was not that valuable to begin with. 

The mastermind had to be someone who had been spying on her long enough to know that she had gone to Lin Ye's villa and happened to need a ride back. Perhaps their people had been following her and reporting her every move. 

But who could they be? 

It was weird to think about this at such a moment but could it be Tyler? 

Yun Xuan dropped the thought as soon as it surfaced. Tyler was a shameless man alright, but he wouldn't stoop to such a level for a woman. 

Actually, the fact that she wasn't harmed didnt mean the mastermind didn't mean any harm. Her body shuddered when she thought about this. What if they wanted her to be brought to them unharmed so they could use more agonizing methods to kill her? 

That reminded her. Madam Yun had tried to call her very many times. What was it that she wanted to say so urgently?

That was right. She didn't seem to have any other enemies aside from the Yun family. Yun Feiwen was unfriendly to her the last time they met. Could he have resorted to using such means to eliminate her? 

Could it be that Madam Yun had found out her son's intention and was trying to warn her earlier? 

"Xuanxuan, what are you thinking about?" Xia Rou had finished speaking to her husband and was back. 

Yun Xuan felt indebted to her. "Aunty, thank you for helping me. I think I know the person that tried to kidnap me." 

"Good girl. Don't be scared anymore. You may need to go to the police station later to explain what happened. Just tell the truth and don't be scared, okay?"
