Chapter 574 - starting to fall in love?

Lu Aotian thought she made sense. Indeed, since she was a child with no exact idea about marriage, she had always said that she would have one of the grandest most enchanting weddings. 

She wouldn't mind endorsing these rings and using the commercial to bring attention to her own marriage. But this could only have that kind of effect if her engagement party was held in spring too, around the same time as the release of the rings.

Of course, he would also take Mu Zhichen's thoughts into consideration. If they were both of the same opinion, it would be a double-win.

"I would love to. After all I have never done anything for the company as a daughter of the Lu family. But would Zhichen agree?" Lu Meili asked when her mother explained the situation. 

"Why wouldn't he? You are the actress here. Logically, you are the one who should be afraid of publicizing your wedding but if you don't mind, neither would he." 

"It's not about the commercial. We don't have to be a couple to film that. I'm just worried... you said the rings will be released in the beginning of spring. There's only less than two weeks remaining before then. Wouldn't that be too rushed for Mu Zhichen? Don't forget, he's neither a model nor an actress. He may need time to prepare for it." 

Wan Jia totally missed her main points. "My little baby's concern is rushing her fiancé and tiring him out? Are you starting to fall in love with him?" 

Lu Meili was caught off guard by this question. Was she starting to fall in love with Mu Zhichen? 

"I don't know. All I know is that I don't hate him and I don't have anything against marrying him." 

Wan Jia raised an eyebrow. "Is that so? If I were to say that once you marry, you can never divorce each other and will have to stick together for a lifetime, would you still marry him?" 

"I'm sure that he is a nice person because daddy would never introduce his daughter to a bad man. Since that's the case, I don't mind being his wife for a lifetime." 

She had answered without hesitation so Wan Jia knew that it was really what she was thinking. 

"Hey, you totally missed the point. You know that we shouldn't rush things, right? I haven't even met my in-laws yet." Lu Meili reminded. 

Wan Jia chuckled. "People from the Mu family have watched you grow up. There is nothing they don't know about you. Since you have already agreed to marry their son, there is no harm if you met them on your engagement party." 

Wan Jia recalled something. "Speaking of which, I have something for you." She fished out some cards from her bag and gave to her. "These are  the invitations for your engagement party. It will be held in the Mu residence." 

Lu Meili took the cards in disbelief. "The engagement party has been arranged already yet the bride wasn't told a word of it?" 

"The bride was busy filming. In actual fact, it was arranged a long time ago. All that was left was a bride and the date." Lu Meili squinted her eyes and Wan Jia continued. "If you didn't go on a blind date with Zhichen that day, he would be with another woman now. His family was going to choose a random girl for him because they have never seen him bring a girl close to him." 

Lu Meili tapped a finger on her cheek. Such a man was going to be forced into marriage with a random girl? 

In actual sense, she was also a random girl. It was just out of luck that they got along. 

If anyone were to ask her to compare Mu Zhichen to Xu Tang right now, she would say that Mu Zhichen would make a better husband. She didn't regret leaving Xu Tang and meeting Mu Zhichen. 

That was right. She didn't ever think it would come to such a point one day but that's just how fate twisted it. 

After speaking to her mother, she took the invitation cards and went to her room, closed the door and gave Mu Zhichen a call. 

"Yo, Uncle Zhichen. How can you not tell me something as important as our engagement party being organized?" 

Mu Zhichen burst into laughter. 

"Why are you laughing?" 

"You really meant it when you said you would call me 'uncle'. I didn't tell you about the party because I wanted to give you a surprise. I forgot to tell Uncle and Aunty Lu to keep it a secret for now." 

"You..."

"Is that Meili? Let me speak to her." An enthusiastic voice was heard on the other side. 

"Mother, calm down. Don't scare Meili away. You will meet soon." Mu Zhichen's voice was restrained, as though afraid she would hear.

However, Mu Zhichen's mother sounded even more aggrieved. "You punk! You won't let me say hi to my daughter-in-law. Are you picking on me because you think I'm weak?"  

Lu Meili tittered. She had expected Mu Zhichen's family to be a huddle of serious people. Such playfulness was unexpected. "Mu Zhichen, it's your mother? Let me say hi to her." 

Mu Zhichen helplessly gave the phone to the middle-aged woman throwing a tantrum. 

She was so happy she could melt. "Meili, my dear, hello." 

Lu Meili was pleased by the friendly greeting. "Hello aunty." 

"Good girl. It's only a few days before you have to stop calling me 'aunty' and start calling me 'mother'." 

Aside from this and a few more words, the women didn't know what to talk about. So Mrs. Mu changed the topic. "Meili, your betrothal gifts will be brought to your home tomorrow. I hope you will be free to recieve them." She spoke in the gentlest manner possible, afraid of scaring her daughter-in-law away. 

Lu Meili appreciated her kindness. "I will stay at home tomorrow."
