Chapter 523 - Helped a blind man

Lu Meili walked around and was about to pick a glass of wine. 

"Meili?" She heard a familiar voice behind her. 

She turned to see Katy trying to hide her nervousness. 

"You... never mind." She picked a glass of wine and left. 

Katy Blanc shrugged her shoulders. She wouldn't give her just a minute? 

Actually, she remembered the man from the photo Lu Meili had shown her. While shopping around a week ago, she had seen a man feeling around  with a rod and trying to cross the road. His eyes were lifeless and unfocused. He was all alone and was having too much trouble. 

Seeing that the blind man was too helpless, she helped him cross the road. 

She had forgotten all about this matter because she didn't find it significant. 

Who would have thought that the 'blind man' was a fake and the whole situation was all a stupid lie?

When Lu Meili left after claiming that she had a close relationship with this director to tarnish her reputation, she remembered that incident later. 

Now that she thought about it, it wouldn't be difficult for a film director to put on an act. 

She cursed whoever did such a thing. How could they take advantage of her kind heart to slander her? 

And why her? Why was she attracting so much slander lately? 

Before she could look for Lu Meili and explain this, Henry Blanc called her to go back home.

Southside Villas, villa number two. 

As soon as Henry Blanc arrived with Katy Blanc, Lin Lihua who was in the living room left and went to her room. 

Katy Blanc looked at Henry Blanc guiltily. "Daddy, it's all my fault." 

Henry Blanc patted her head. "Katy, don't blame yourself. Your aunt is angry with me; not you. She has never held anything against you." 

Katy nodded, though she knew better than anyone that he was only saying this to make her feel better. 

Henry Blanc went upstairs and right into Lin Lihua's room. "Lihua, since when do married couples live separately?" 

Lin Lihua was sitting on her bed with a laptop on her lap, typing away. She didn't look up. "They do now." 

"But we have been married for years. Why are you still..."

Lin Lihua was not in the mood to bicker with him and cut him off. "As long as you dislike Ruoxi, I will never stop hating you." 

In truth, she had already sued him for a divorce. However, he was not willing to divorce her so the court had decided to make them stay together for six months in attempt to save their relationship. This was the fourth month.

Henry Blanc didn't know what to do about her. He pinched his nose bridge in defeat. "Lihua, she hurt Katy. She knocked Katy's head with the butt of a gun. If I didn't reach the scene in time, Katy would be long dead. How do you expect me to like her, huh?"

Lin Lihua's attention was finally piqued. "Henry Blanc, how old were they, huh? Are you trying to say that a fourteen year old girl would have the motive to kill?" 

"She had a gun in her hand, Lihua. Why don't you ever consider this fact?" 

"Because that was your gun which you left lying around carelessly and was picked up by Katy, who went out to play with it." 

Henry Blanc found it laughable. "You only believe that because Ruoxi said it. Do you think I would leave a gun lying around carelessly? Luckily it was not loaded. Katy wouldn't still be alive now." 

"Are you trying to say that Ruoxi stole it? She stole your gun and went out to play with it, then deliberately started a fight with Katy so she would have an excuse to kill her?" 

Henry Blanc swallowed and remined silent. 

"Henry Blanc, please leave. I do not want to speak to people who made up stories to slander my daughter." 

Henry Blanc couldn't stand anyone speaking ill of Katy. Not even if that person was his wife. "I know Katy would never lie about such a thing. We share the same blood!" 

Lin Lihua harrumphed. "There you go. It has always been a matter of blood being thicker for you." 

"Lihua, that's not what I meant." 

"Please leave." 

Henry Blanc did not want to leave. Their relationship was getting worse. She was the type of woman who didn't care much about saving a broken relationship. But he cared about it. She was his Lihua, he loved her and even at his age, he still found it hard to live without her. 

Actually, their relationship had started breaking many years ago. It was all because of the girls. 

No, that was wrong. It was all because of him. He liked Katy more than Ruoxi and it became obvious with time. 

It was not sure when it started, but Ruoxi hated Katy very much. 

That afternoon when the girls were only fourteen, he had returned home earlier than usual. He didn't know why at the time, but his heart had been unsettled the whole day. 

The girls were playing in the backyard. He hd brought presents for both of them but when he went to find them, the scene he saw was horrific. 

Ruoxi was holding Katy's head in her hands and bowling her eyes out. Katy's brown curly hair was all soaked in blood. She was unconcious. 

When Ruoxi saw him, she looked up at him tearfully. "Father, we were just playing and I accidentally... Father,  I didn't mean to hurt her. I really didn't." 

Henry Blanc didn't think at the moment and rushed Katy to hospital. However, later, Ruoxi claimed that it was Katy who brought the gun to play with.
