Chapter 513 - What did he see?

Just like that, Lu Aotian took over MAX Brand as the substitute CEO. Wan Jia only returned to her office a month later and held a conference meeting. 

All her employees were all smiles. That was not strange since she had been away for months. But what was the meaning of their touched expressions? They looked like they were on the verge of tears! Some of them even looked like they were going to break into dance and throw a party. 

"CEO Wan, we are happy to have you back." A small female employee was unable to control her joy and broke into tears. 

"Hey, don't cry." Wan Jia didn't like seeing people cry, especially not this adorable department manager that she liked very much for being hardworking. 

All the others joined the adorable manager. "Yes, yes. CEO, please don't leave us again."

"CEO Wan, wuuu. I'm so happy that I'm going to faint." 

Wan Jia was about to take off from all this weirdness. "What's going on with all of you? Why are you acting so strange?" 

Everyone: "Nothing!" 

It would be normal if one person said it, but saying it in unison while shaking their heads vigorously only increased her suspicion. She thought of a possibility and giggled with a hand over her mouth. "Was Lu Aotian too strict with you?" 

When she mentioned that name, all their faces went pale with fright, proving her right. Lookikg at them closely, they also had dark circles around their dull eyes. One would think they were auditioning for the role of halloween ghosts. 

She looked aside and secretly laughed. No wonder there were so many achievements in her brand lately. She would only hear about them from Lu Aotian and her assistant, but she had not gone to the company before so she didn't know what actually happened behind those numerous achievements.

Now that she thought about it, for the past two months, they must have worked at least twice as hard they usually did. Perhaps they had been working overtime at least thrice every week. Did Lu Aotian think they were robots? 

Knowing him well enough, he had done this to them to punish them for making her worry about them. But, did he have to be so terrifying? They were not Thirty and Seventeen, okay? It was surprising that no one had given up and decided to leave the company. Were they so scared of him that they did not dare to do as they pleased? 

Little did she know, when Lu Aotian was around, they wouldn't dare breath, much less tell him that they were being overworked and needed to rest. In fact, the CEO's office had turned into hell for them. Unfortunately, he had clearly stated that no one should contact Wan Jia about anything regarding the company. They had no choice...

They could only grit their teeth and brave it, feeling extremely wronged. 

It made them wonder just how Wan Jia was able to live as his wife. Was she under torture? 

But then again, she was his pampered wife that he loved very much. Everyone knew this. As for them, they could only hope that she returned soon. 

Now that she was here, they hoped they wouldn't have to see Lu Aotian again. 

"Let's talk about important matters first. When this is done, your monthly bonuses will be increased." 

"Thank you CEO Wan." 

"CEO Wan is the best."

There was nothing to settle in real sense. Lu Aotian had managed everything cleanly and would tell her everything important. All she did in this meeting was recieve the current progress and talk about the plan for the next month. 

When she was done, she spared some time in the afternoon to visit Lin Ye in hospital. He was her employee and therefore her responsibility. It was unfortunate that he had to remain in coma for so long.

"Ten! Ready or not, I'm coming!" 

"Oh no, I haven't found a good hiding spot yet." Little Jia muttered to herself. 

She looked around and couldn't find any suitable spot. She had unintentionally seen Tangtang heading east.

Decisevely, she followed him. He was the one who would always find the best hiding places. No one ever won against him in their games of hide-and-seek. This time, they were playing some distance away from home. It was even more obvious that no one would find him.

The boy was running towards a slope. If he hid properly behind that huge tree right before the slope, the girls would never guess it. They were probably too scared of such places to think that he would hide there. 

But in the next moment, he came to a sudden stop and slipped. 

"Tangtang!" Little Jia was already a few steps behind him. Her speed was remarkable. 

The boy stood up and wiped the grass off his shorts quickly. Before Little Jia got to him, he rushed to her instead. "Little Jia, hush." 

He took her hand and led her away, his expression terrified as though he had seen a ghost. "Let's get out of here. Quick." 

"Wait. Tangtang, what happened?" 

The boy was very nervous. "I... s-aw..." 

Little Jia was scared off by his expression. "What did you see?" 

Tangtang glanced back at the cliff one last time, then he continued urging her. "I didn't see anything. Hurry up. If we don't hide soon, Katy will catch us." 

Little Jia stopped and looked back. What did he see? 

"Little Jia?" 

Little Jia tore her gaze away and ran to catch up with him. 

"You are so fast." Tangtang commented. He wouldn't dare to race against her even though she was a girl and younger than him at that. 

"Haha, my daddy's fast. I got it from him."
