Chapter 490 - Do not want murderers near my wife

Katy said to Little Jia in a low tone, "Ruoxi is legally aunty's child. Daddy said that she was adopted." 

Little Jia did not exactly understand what that was about. All she understood was that her aunty seemed to have taken an already grown child as her own. Her eyes flashed in surprise. She did not know that such a thing could actually happen.

The little girl thought of something else and her face brightened up. "Mommy said that Aunty Lihua and Uncle Henry are now married. Does that make us... cousins?" 

Katy thought about it and was excited too. "Yes! Aunty Lihua is the aunt of us both. Not only are we good friends, we are now cousins too." 

Lin Lihua glanced at them and smiled warmly. The kids were too cute. 

Little Jia was the most excited of the three. Though she wondered, why was her new cousin very timid, cowering behind her aunt? Was it because she had been too harsh earlier? Seeing that her mother was still looking at her as though waiting for her to realize her mistake, she knew that she was right. She was too unfriendly earlier.  

She pulled the timid Ruoxi. "Elder cousin, my name is Lu Meili but you can call me Little Jia. Do you want to play together? Katy and I don't mind another playmate. Right, Katy?" 

Katy nodded. 

Seeing that Katy did not mind either, Little Jia pulled Ruoxi and Katy. "Let's go check on my little kitten. Her name is Brownie, aunty Lihua gifted her to me." 

"You have a kitten? I love kittens!" Ruoxi finally said something cheerful for the first time. She let Little Jia and Katy pull her. 

Wan Jia's expression eased. She hoped they would truly get along. 

Lin Lihua was speechless. She had come to introduce Ruoxi to her relatives and pick Katy up in the process. How did it get to both of them following Little Jia to play and leaving her alone?

Though at the same time, she knew exactly what kind of pet to give her daughter. The girl had not shown particular interest in anything yet. This was the first. 

As for Katy, she was not allergic to animals, but she was not particularly fond of them either. The only exception was Brownie. 

After being taken care of by Little Jia and fed properly, Brownie was now an extremely adorable white bundle of fluff. It was also so playful that every kid liked it. 

Katy must have already told Ruoxi about Little Jia and her kitten before, explaining her urge to see and play with it.

When the kids left, the adults finally had the chance to speak. 

Lu Aotian knew that Wan Jia was very anxious. If he let her out of this discussion, she would worry herself silly. If her emotions fluctuated too much, it might be harmful to both her and the baby.  

"Are you planning to find out whether you are expecting a boy or a girl?" Lin Lihua asked casually. Wan Jia was almost twelve weeks into her pregnancy. In a few days, they would be able to know the baby's gender. 

For this question, Lu Aotian would do as his wife pleased. He looked at her as though also wondering what she wanted to do. 

"I want to know whether this little thing is a girl or a boy. It is very stubborn. However, I also want a surprise on the due day. So I will wait to find out when it's born." Wan Jia answered. 

"Actually I also prefer being surprised. For the first time ever, we agree on something." Lin Lihua smiled. 

"What are we agreeing on? I'm still waiting for news from your stomach." 

Lin Lihua was suddenly stunned. News from where? "You've got to be kidding me. I already have Ruoxi. I don't plan to have any other kids." 

Lu Aotian did not wish to be part of this feminine discussion. "Doherty sent you a video, right? Do you still have it?" 

Lin Lihua recieved another wave of shock. Lu Aotian knew that she had recieved a video from that guy? 

The main point here was, he knew Doherty? 

Lu Aotian knew exactly what she was shocked about. "If I'm to be honest, I initially thought that you really teamed up with Xia Jing to murder Amy Blanc." 

"Why would you care?" Lin Lihua asked blankly. If she was correct, there was no sort of connection between Lu Aotian and Amy Blanc. 

"I would not want murderers near my wife. If you were one, I would never let you near my family. That's exactly why I investigated the matter." 

"Aotian, you are too mean." Wan Jia complained. How could he manage to say such things to her sister? 

"What about me? I'm only stating the facts. A woman who can manage to kill the person who matters the most to her husband is also capable of murdering her sister. After all, you are not even related by blood." He sighed and continued. "Luckily, my sister-in-law is not that kind of person." 

Lin Lihua was not fazed by his heartless remarks. Of course, Lu Aotian would only care about two people's feelings in this lifetime and those were Wan Jia and Little Jia. Towards everyone else, he was heartless. 

"Why is it that I find your statement double-faced, brother-in-law?" Lin Lihua asked unceremoniously. 

Lu Aotian was as sharp-tongued as ever. "You understand what I mean, my dear sister-in-law."

"I do not."  

"Heh. Is it because my sister-in-law is a liar, or are you just oblivious?" 

Lin Lihua's face grew pale. "What exactly are you talking about?" 

Wan Jia was starting to get a headache from this mysterious conversation. "What exactly is going on here?"
