Chapter 359 - The situation is changing

Su Ling remained stunned for a moment. When her brain finally processed what had just happened, she hurriedly apologized. "I..I'm so sorry! I-I…"

That cup must have been so valuable and cost a fortune. How would she be able to repay it? Not to forget how rare the coffee she just spilled must be! Without thinking, she crouched to pick the shards.

"Are you an idiot?" Lu Tongyan exclaimed. Startled, she held a shard with a little too much force and it cut through her finger.

Lu Tongyan's expression worsened. "How can you pick up shards using your hands? Don't you know that they could cut you?" he glared at the servants who were just standing there and doing nothing. "Clean up the mess, call the family nurse. What are you standing around for? Su Ling, don't touch anything."

Su Ling was astounded. He wasn't scolding her for breaking the valuable cup, but for picking it up? Until the nurse cleaned her cut and wrapped it up, until she gave her some ointment to prevent scarring, Su Ling thought she was in a dream.

For that moment, the sharp tongued Lu Tongyan was gone. All she saw was a father concerned for his future daughter-in-law. He was even more concerned about her than her biological father had ever been. Were people from the Lu family all like this?

Wan Jia was drowsily dozing off on Lu Aotian's shoulder. After having a lot of fun in Country A then being on such a long flight, she was especially tired.

"I assume there's nothing else. My wife and I will head up first." Lu Aotian said and carried her in his arms.

Remaining with only Lu Tongyan in the living room, Su Ling felt more scared. Why wasn't Lu Shaoting back yet?

Upstairs.

After taking Wan Jia to sleep, Lu Aotian also wondered why he hadn't seen his brother since he took Little Jia upstairs. He went to check on them.

Before he got there, Lu Shaoting came rushing out of Little Jia's room. "Bro, Little Jia fainted. I called the doctor and was coming to tell you about it." 

Lu Aotian rushed into the room. He held Little Jia's hand. She didn't have a fever. "What happened?"

"She woke up when I brought her up. We played a bit but she suddenly fainted." Lu Shaoting reported. 

Doctor Fan arrived quickly and ran tests on her. By this time, Wan Jia had woken up with a start and rushed over. Su Ling and Lu Tongyan had gone to take a look too. 

"She's more than okay." Doctor Fan said.

Lu Aotian left the room with the doctor and spat out only one word. "Speak."

Doctor Fan coughed. "Ahem…how do I put this? Previously when we checked on her, she could go on with her life as normal but her condition was still not promising. But just now I realized, the situation seems to be changing."

"What's that about?"

"Previously we estimated that she could hold on for three to five years, but now she can hold on for up to seven years. It may seem like just a short time but in all my years, I've never seen this happen so mysteriously. Most importantly, her symptoms seem to be almost nonexistent. They are still there, but you wouldn't know unless you ran tests on her. Her immunity is becoming stronger. With time, it will be impossible for her to catch any illness. She fainted earlier because of the sudden change in her body."

He had realized this. She was so energetic in the last few days that one would mistake it as her being completely cured. "That's a good thing."

He was happy but confused. The way the doctor put it, it was as though he didn't believe in this being coincidental. Little Jia must have taken something aside from the medicines prescribed by the doctors. And he could guess just what it was.

Only when they were sure that Little Jia was fine did they go to their rooms. Even then they left the family nurse to watch over her.

"What did Doctor Fan say?" Wan Jia asked when they were in their room.

Lu Aotian lifted the duvet and lay on the bed, holding her in his arms. "Honey, what happened to that pill from Qian Li?"

"You kept it away."

"And then?"

Wan Jia knew she couldn't hide it anymore. "I gave it to Little Jia not too long ago. I'm sorry I did it behind your back."

Lu Aotian's expression was getting colder by the second. "The effect was positive."

"Then why do you sound angry?"

Lu Aotian didn't want to lose control of his anger. "Go to sleep."

Wan Jia flipped him and looked into his eyes using the dim light in the room. "You wouldn't be angry because I gave her the pill, right? Time has proven that Doctor Qian has nothing against Little Jia, hasn't it?"

"What if he had something against her? Do you know how dangerous that was? Little Jia might have..." he didn't dare say it out.

Wan Jia drew herself out of his arms. "My love, why do you always have to be so skeptical?"

"Do you why people hurt you every time? It's because you trust people too easily. You give them the power to trample on you. Every time." Lu Aotian said every word without a hint of emotion.

Wan Jia stopped herself from saying what she was going to say. She did not expect him to say such a thing to her.
