Chapter 300 - I still love my life

Little Jia looked at her father briefly and lifted her little arms to be lifted by him. Being held by her tall father, she skimmed her eyes through the crowd, searching for someone. She saw her talking to a few ladies a distance away and flashed a smile. Then she got down from her father's arms and started walking over.

"Where is Little Miss going?" a few people asked as they speedily got out of her way.

Little Jia didn't answer their question and only had one person in her eyes. When she was close enough, she called out, "Aunty Su Ling!"

Her cute voice could melt hearts. Su Ling felt emotional and took the little girl's tiny hand. "Little Miss…"

Little Jia was not very happy with the way she called her but she did not kick up a fuss. She stuck out her small arms. "Second Aunty, hug."

Su Ling was scared of Lu Aotian's presence, but she couldn't possibly say no to the little girl, so she picked her up.

After a warm hug from her second aunt, Little Jia agreed to leave.

Behind them, the women who had their eyes on Lu Shaoting were angrier than ever.

"This Su Ling is so scheming. She already buttered up to President Lu's daughter!"

"Isn't it so she can pass off as a good mother? Tsk, President Lu should be careful about her."

"If I didn't know any better, I would think she is trying to seduce President Lu by getting close to the Little Miss."

When Su Ling heard their discussions, she frowned. It was Little Jia who sought her first, okay? Besides, she was just too cute. Who wouldn't want to be on her good side? Most importantly, did they expect her to be rude to her future niece? They should keep dreaming!

The family of three went back home in the same car. The car Lu Aotian had driven to the banquet would be driven back home by the chauffeur.

Wan Jia sat with Little Jia in the backseat. Although she had not moved about a lot tonight, the little girl was tired.

She leaned in her mother's embrace and closed her eyes.

However, along the way, she frowned in her nap. Wan Jia noticed this and looked at her. "Baby, is something wrong?"

"Mommy, Little Jia's head hurts. It's so painful…"

"First Capital's Hospital is a few miles ahead. Let's take her there." Lu Aotian said.

Wan Jia nodded and rubbed her daughter's head. She didn't have a fever. It was probably just fatigue.

Lu Aotian sped up and they were at the hospital in five minutes. He carried his daughter and walked in urgent strides into the hospital. He would have called Doctor Cui and had him treat Little Jia at home but for a reason he didn't understand, he had a bad feeling. There was a weird sense of alarm in his heart.

Wan Jia was apparently feeling something similar. When Lu Aotian saw his wife holding onto her chest, he ordered for a full body check on Little Jia.

Wan Jia was uneasy outside the hospital room. She involuntarily started pacing.

Lu Aotian pulled her to sit next to him. "Why are you so worried? It's just a headache."

When Wan Jia looked at him, there was fear clearly written in her eyes. "I'm just scared. I don't even know what I'm scared of."

Lu Aotian held her tightly. "Don't be scared. She must be tired from the banquet. It's almost her sleeping time." he said, not sure whether he was trying to console her or himself.

Inside the hospital room, a nurse took her blood samples for running tests.

Although it was already 9pm, the doctors were very dedicated in their work as they did various tests on the little girl.  Little Jia had fainted and was being taken care of by a highly professional nurse.

When the tests were done, a female pediatrician looked at her male colleague.

"This…"

The male doctor had a shocked expression too. "If they didn't ask for a full body test, they wouldn't find out until it's too late."

"Are you going to break the news to them?"

"Are you kidding me?  That's Lu Aotian out there. I still love my life." The female doctor refused to go without a second thought.

The male doctor could only take a deep breath and accept his fate. He went to the pair of anxious parents.

Wan Jia rushed to him as soon as he appeared in the hallway. "Doctor, how's my baby?"

She saw his expression that wasn't of smiles. "She…she's fine, right?"

The doctor looked at the woman before him then looked at the man who almost couldn't hide his anxiety anymore. "Mr. Lu, Mrs. Lu, let's have a chat in my office."

Wan Jia looked at her husband then at the doctor who had turned to lead them into his office. Lu Aotian walked to his wife's side and hugged her. "She will be fine." This time too, he didn't know who he was consoling.

In the doctor's office, the man almost passed out from the two pairs of gazes.

"Don't beat around the bush." Wan Jia said, knowing that the doctor was probably afraid of her reaction.

The young man sighed. He wasn't sure Mrs. Lu could take it.

"Mr. Lu, Mrs. Lu, I hate to be blunt. Miss Lu Meili's condition doesn't look very good."
