Chapter 221 - Not so easy

"..." Was that...a confession?

The confession was just one thing. What bothered him the most was, he only remembered Yan Xue because they once met in a banquet not more than five years ago. It was just a brief meeting and he didn't even know her name then.

He had only heard a few rumours about her being beautiful and intelligent but he didn't remember ever meeting her when they were kids.

Her next statement explained it. "Shaoting, you never once paid attention to me. You would spend all your time forcefully sticking to your brother and you hated playing with girls. But, It did not make me stop loving you. I knew that one day we would meet again. All these years that I've been away, I kept myself pure for you."

Lu Shaoting coughed when he heard the last part.

"Well, it's true. I couldn't bring myself to like any other man. You have no idea how happy I was when my father said that he was organizing a blind date with me and the second son of the Lu family. It was like a dream come true."

Lu Shaoting was at a loss. So there was a girl who had carried a torch for him? It's not that it was strange for girls to like him, he was after all handsome and everything about him was admirable, he was just surprised that a girl he thought he didn't know loved him this much.

"Miss Yan, I'm truly sorry. I appreciate your feelings for me but I already have someone I like. You should find someone too."

Yan Xue had a pitiful expression that would provoke any man to protect her. "Is it because I'm not pretty enough?"

Lu Shaoting shook his head. "That...Miss Yan, you are very beautiful. I just don't have you in my eyes." That was what he said but he had not taken a good look at her.

"Then why?"

Lu Shaoting felt conflicted. If this was how troublesome it was to deal with girls, then he would rather remain unmarried. "I said just now that I have someone I like. That's really the reason. You should find someone else yourself and not hurt yourself in the process of loving another woman's husband."

"I see." Yan Xue said and stood up. Before she left, she gave him a quick hug as if to comfort herself then apologized with a smile. It was a good thing that she was not as hysterical and dramatic as he had expected.

That was easy.

As he thought of this, the devil must have been mocking him: Nope, not easy at all.

Because...Su Ling was in the same restaurant with her newly made female friend from the company...and she saw them.

Meanwhile, Wan Jia was thinking about officially reuniting with her family. She had only talked to Xia Rou and Lin Lihua and hadn't oficially met her father yet.

At 8pm, she was on the phone with Lin Lihua. "Sis, can you tell me what our father likes?" Her speed of getting the hang of it and comfortably adressing her parents as 'mother' and 'father' was too impressive. You would think she had only been away from them for twenty four days.

"Little Wan, you don't have to bring presents. You are already our biggest gift." Lin Lihua said.

"But I still want to. Aotian and Little Jia are coming too "

"They are?! Mom and Dad will be so excited!" They would finally meet Little Jia and stop bugging her about it.

On saturday, the family of three made their way to the Lin residence.

The Lin couple were practically walking on clouds. Not only had they got their daughter back, she had come along with a son-in-law and an extremely adorable granddaughter too.

"CEO Lin." Lu Aotian greeted.

"You are too polite President Lu, you can call me 'uncle' or 'father-in-law'. We will be family soon.

"You know each other?" Lin Lihua was the first to ask.

Lin Zhou sounded very proud when he answered. "Of course! President Lu is the youngest man in our circle of businessmen. At his age, his business strategies are admirable even to old folks like us. I always envied that Tongyan for having such a brilliant son but he is now my soon to be son-in-law!" The way he praised Lu Aotian, you would think he was praising his own son.

"CEO Lin, you flatter me. It's just a little effort on my part."

"He's very humble too. The Lin family must have cultivated ten lifetimes of good luck to have you as our son-in-law."

Lin Zhou was in such a good mood that he left Xia Rou's and Lin Lihua's mouths wide open. Since when did he praise someone that much?

"Father..." Wan Jia called out half shyly.

Then she took Little Jia's hand and led her to Lin Zhou. "Baby, say hi to grandpa."

Lin Zhou was already passing out from happiness, and when he heard Little Jia's adorable "Hi Grandpa", he was literally growing wings on his back to fly to the sky.

Wan Jia looked at Xia Rou and in the next second flung herself into her arms. "Mom," The two of them embraced each other for a long time. Lin Lihua was jealous. Mom, I didn't ask you to steal my Little Wan from me!

Even more jealous was Lin Zhou, and he voiced his opinion in immense envy "I guess she likes the mother more, huh?"
