Chapter 127 - The glaring scar

"What if...what if it's not really a lie? He said that that my character was just like that woman's. What if she's really my mother?" Her tears were rolling in quick drops.

Lu Aotian was at a loss. Should he tell her that he was sure because he already knew very much about her mother?

He would have loved to, but he wanted to make sure he had got the right person this time. The last time, he had almost believed that Yun Jifeng's mother was Wan Jia's mother too. In fact that woman was acting so nicely, even putting out word to the police....

This time, he wanted to complete his investigation, have the woman he was looking for take a DNA test with Wan Jia and only then would he be sure. Even then, he would only tell Wan Jia about it if that woman acknowledged her daughter and wanted her back.

"Aotian..." she cried.

Lu Aotian felt his heart ache terribly as he hugged her tighter, wrapping his arms around her body. "Don't cry, I'll find your mother. I'll definitely find her."

"You will?" she was in disbelief.

Seeing her heartbreaking look, Lu Aotian could not hold it anymore and said. "I already have some leads."

"You do? You didn't tell me about it?" she blinked at him.

"I have leads that I'm sure about. I know many things about her but her name, family background and physical appearance are missing."

"That's strange." she said. If he had already found events or things leading him to her, what was so difficult about locating the suspect?

"I know, she erased all traces of herself and might be using a fake identity."

"Erased her information? What...what if you get the wrong person?"

"That's not possible." The only thing he had not found yet were things that he could not get by hacking. The lady must have been escaping something for her to go through all that trouble. Also, he was just a little afraid that if he retrieved her information, he may find out that she was an evil woman. After all, it was rare for people with simple motives to change identities. What he did not mention to her was that when that woman was with General Yun, she lied about being an orphan and used a different name. Who knew, maybe she underwent a facial transformation after giving birth to Wan Jia and looked different now. He feared that if she was not a good person, she may break Wan Jia's heart by not accepting her.

Never mind, if that happened, he would just tell her that he got the wrong person and find a way to cover up.

"How sure are you?" she still did not want to be wrong.

"She has a unique scar."

Wan Jia looked at him blankly, obviously waiting for him to continue.

"She has a conspicuous scar on her neck. Someone tried to kill her years ago."

This time too, he kept something else from her. From the information he had, General Yun had tried to kill her by chopping off her neck. Luckily she had been saved before he cut too deep.

As for the reason why he did that, Lu Aotian's source of information was not entirely sure, but they guessed that one of the reasons could have been because he suspected the woman was cheating on him.

Wan Jia felt her heart hurt when he talked about the scar. Someone had tried to kill her mother?

Shoot! Lu Aotian had not even confirmed yet. Why was she getting all emotional?

Yun Jifeng called his mother.

"I've done what you asked. Don't call me ever again!" he bellowed.

The woman on the phone sighed. "Jifeng, why do you keep saying such heartbreaking things? Mother's heart breaks when you say that."

Yun Jifeng's voice became even colder. "If you call again, I'll tell father the truth. You know the end result, don't you? That little slut you are protecting will be dead before you know it."

"Jifeng, how can you say such a thing? She's your sister." she berated.

"What sister?" he sneered. "I only have one sister. Yun Xuan. If I ever need another one, I may as well adopt Wan Jia."

"Sigh, Jifeng, will you ever come home?" she changed the topic to not anger her son further.

Yun Jifeng got angry. "Woman, you're becoming braver, huh? Now even pushing your limits!"

He had only agreed to trick Wan Jia as per that woman's instructions because she had dirty records of crime about him.

Did that woman have any fr**king idea that for her daughter, he had fooled his beloved sister into telling him about Wan Jia's weaknesses?

Actually, he would not ever treat Wan Jia like his sister even if she miraculously turned out to be one. She had no feelings for him.

Tsk, was there someone who dared not have feelings for him- Yun Jifeng? He would make sure her end is tragic.

A few days later, Lin Lihua and Xia Rou started executing their plan.

Lin Lihua had invited Wan Jia to her place for some games and lunch.

Xia Rou sat in front of the mirror, ready to let her daughter do her disguise magic.

When Lin Lihua pulled her long hair back, Xia Rou unconciously touched the left side of her long fair neck.

The very faded scar did not diminish her beauty in an outsider's perspective.

However to her, it was extremely ugly, always reminding her of the dark past.
