Chapter 108 - Why would she doubt him?

People could cheat on their girlfriends, but Tyler had proven himself trustworthy. Why would she doubt him?

Although she trusted him whole heartedly, what Wan Jia said earlier struck a chord in her mind. She really had not met any of his friends. Even if he was so secretive, he should at least have a few friends who, like her, don't know his identity, right?

Hence that night, as she lay her head on his chest, she casually asked. "Why is it that I haven't ever met any of your friends?"

"You want to meet them?" He asked.

"It's just normal for me to get to know my man's circle of friends, don't you think? Unless my existence is a secret and..." they know you have someone else.

He pinched her ear lightly. "What nonesense are you thinking? Of course you're my only woman. I don't have any close friends I trust so...." He paused as though there was something else he was hesitating to say.

Yun Xuan completed the puzzle. "The ones you have think your wife is Ruolin?" She remembered he had mentioned that the agency wanted them to pretend to be a couple. So to make his life seem normal to the people he hang out with, he introduced his 'wife' to them?

"Darling, in case someone wanted to look me up, they have to see that I have a complete lifestyle with friends and family. But that's not the main issue."

Of course she understood the first part. It was just as she thought. "If that's not the issue then what is?"

"There is something I didn't tell you before....it's not that I didn't trust you, but I've been trained not to let my guard down."

"Just say it. If you're not coming out of the closet then it should be fine."

"We have a five year old son together."

"Oh, so what's the shocking thing you wanted to say?"

Tyler shot her a puzzled look. "You're not shocked?"

So the shocking thing was the news that he has a son. But he was already thirty two. It would in fact be even weirder if he had never been with a girl before her.

"Wait, if you have a son, why have I not ever seen you together with him?"

She was with him most of the time. Did he not ever care about him?

"His mother was granted custody of him. I can only support him from behind the scenes for now."

How tragic. It made sense, though. How would Tyler manage to raise a child on his own with his frequent movement? It seemed like he and his ex girlfriend were really in bad terms with each other.

He suddenly turned serious and looked at her. "Darling, the main point is I don't plan to keep running around for work matters. Once I fulfil the prerequesites, I'll be promoted to a senior position and I will permanently stay in the place I'll be allocated. When that time comes, I want to fight for my son's custody."

Now she got the point. He was worried she wouldn't like it that she would become a step mother?

"I don't mind. As long as he's well behaved, we'll get along pretty well." she said.

He hugged her affectionately. This matter had weighed him down for months. Now he felt like a huge load had been lifted off his shoulders.

Wan Jia didn't know when she started feeling such a strong sense of security towards Lin Lihua. Some things could not be discussed with someone who knew you too much. Before she realized it, she had made her way to Lin Lihua's place.

"But you like cookies. Try them out, they're from the best cookie shop in the capital."

Lin Lihua looked at the plastic bag, secretly swallowing hard. "since it's a gift from my beautiful Wan, I'll reluctantly accept it." Although she said she was reluctantly accepting it, her hands had already reached out to grab the bag and anxiously open the package to take one out.

Wan Jia: "..." How reluctant.

Lin Lihua knew from her thirty years of life experience that Wan Jia had not merely come over to give her cookies. She had something weighing her down. She shoved a cookie into her mouth to prevent her smile from being too obvious.
