Chapter 16 - Even if she asked for the stars.....

According to General Yun's plan, 'Yun Xuan' would ask for a position in Lu Enterprise. Since there was nothing wrong with a wife working in her husband's company, and since the wife-doting Lu Aotian would obviously give her a position not too far from his own, that would be her chance to steal the USB device and take it to General Yun, then her job would be done. When it was all over, the old man had promised to let her marry her childhood love.

(He was not aware that Wan Jia had overhead his conversation with Yun Jifeng and was treating Wan Jia as he would treat the real Yun Xuan.)

Wanjia was forced into a dead end as she didn't know what to do. Should she follow the plan? That would obviously crush Lu Aotian's heart into pieces. If she failed, who knew what that dangerous man would do to her now that he knew her identity? She even wondered whether he only thought she was the right person for this job because she was not really Yun Xuan.

She really did not want to be the one to betray the love of her life. What would she do? Use her ultimate move? It was a very painful move but it seemed like that was her only option.

Wan Jia sighed as she opened the door to the master bedroom. She had moved into the master bedroom ever since their relationship got physical.

"Aotian," she called her husband whose eyes were closed as he lay on the bed, but she knew he was not asleep.

"What is it my love?" He looked opened his eyes to look at his wife who looked like a bundle of nerves. Strange.....?Why did this situation give him a sense déjà vu?

She went up to him and lay beside him, putting her head on his firm chest and rubbing her head against his neck like a little kitten. Such an intimate move but Lu Aotian could still sense her uneasiness.

"Aotian, do you really love me?"

"With all my heart." He was being extremely honest.

Wan Jia carefully concentrated on his heartbeat as she asked,

"Would you do anything for me?"

"Honey, even if you ask for the stars, you know I'd find a way to get them for you."

Well, that was not too impossible for him to do, actually...

"Then I need you to do me a favour. Can you promise me?"

"Anything for you."He said as he run his hand through her waist-long hair. His heartbeat was still stable. He knew she was going to ask for something difficult, but he was ready to do anything to make her happy. It's not like she was going to ask him for the stars anyway....however, in the next second, she asked for something more difficult to get than the entire universe.

"Aotian, I want a divorce." As expected, his heart almost stopped beating then suddenly hastened. It was so loud she could feel her ears exploding.

"Hehe...you almost got me, Mrs. Lu" He tried to sound as calm as possible.

"I'm serious."

"Of course you're serious,I know. " He forced himself to calm down.

" But I am really serious." This time she sounded more serious. Lu Aotian turned around and looked into her eyes. Was she really asking for a divorce? "The thing is...I can't be your wife anymore.....You already promised me just now. I...I need it as soon as possible."

Could someone explain to him what was going on? Why did his wife suddenly look like she really wanted a divorce?

"Did I do something wrong?" His voice was literally breaking down...

"No, I just.....I have someone else I like."

"Who?" his eyes already looked murderous.

"That...It's none of your business, just...nevermind. Aotian, relationships don't always work out. Loving someone is just temporary....Let's not waste any more of each other's time, okay?"

"Honey, whatever I did to upset you, I apologize."

"Aotian..."

"No, listen to me." He held her hand and kissed it, then cupped her cheek. "Liking someone is temporary, but love is permanent. And I love you, we love each other. Are we really going to divorce for someone you only momentarily like?"

Seriously? Why was this man like this? Your wife just admitted to be having feelings for someone else. Could you at least be a little angry, hey!

Wan Jia suddenly got up and retrieved something from her bag....divorce papers. Was it that serious?

At this point, Lu Aotian's voice was weak and urgent when he spoke.

"I know you're doing this for another reason. There's no other man...Honey, that's a lie...please honey, whatever the real reason is, we can handle it together."

"There's indeed another man." She dared not look him in the eye. "We really like each other and even....we already got together." As expected, Lu Aotian's eyes darkened even more. However, he was angry at that man for seducing his precious wife, obviously he wouldn't be angry with his wife. He still spoke to her gently even when she pushed him away when he tried to hug her.

"Then, we'll forget whatever happened between you two. Just don't leave me, okay?"

Really? Was this how a husband was supposed to react to such news? Of course his reaction was normal as he knew she was only trying to upset him. However, heaven knew there was 99% chance that he would react the same way even if what she was saying were true.

"But I'm pregnant with his child."

"I'll be his father."

"But his real father already knows."

After a series of provocation, Wan Jia finally managed to piss him off and make him sign the papers. This included throwing a tantrum and threatening to throw herself out through the window.

'Aotian, I want a divorce...'

'I can't be your wife anymore'

'Aotian, I have another man...'

'Love is just a temporary feeling...'

'I'm already carrying his baby...'

'Lu Aotian! I'd rather kill myself by falling out through this window than continue being your wife.'...

Which one these statements was not heart shattering? Yet he had heard all of them in just one night and more hurtful ones....

He stepped harder on the accelerator as if speeding away from those voices. He shook his head hard but he still heard them in his ears. He turned on the music so loud his car was literally shaking. I want a divorce! I want a divorce... it became even louder.

Suddenly, with a loud bang followed a crazy round of shattering of glass, his world turned into darkness.

On the other hand, Wan Jia suddenly felt her stomach churn. It only lasted for a second and she was about to sigh in relief when she suddenly recalled something. Her period was late! Don't tell her...she was really pregnant?
