Chapter 806 Four Pillars: A Fated Meeting

Chapter 806 Four Pillars: A Fated Meeting

Feeling this sense of urgency from the beckoning he felt from the center, Valyr began to frown in slight annoyance.

After all, ever since he had become an official member of the Gates of Awakening and returned to the courtyard, the barren spot was radiating a feeling of beckoning the very moment he got out.

Of course, he knew the reason behind the sensation very well, reminding him of the words that were spoken to him on that day.

However, with even the feral humans not daring to enter the barren spot, why was there a sense of urgency laced beneath the feeling he got?

'Is it really that important?' asked the young man to himself, deciding to ignore the feeling for now as he began to make his way towards a group of feral humans.

Though, as if cognizant of his actions, the feeling of beckoning from the barren spot instantly strengthened in intensity, turning into something he couldn't easily ignore.

At the same time, the feeling of urgency hidden underneath became more intense as well.

It was as if the sensation was telling him that he would regret it if he did not take the opportunity at the earliest possible moment.

Thankfully for the sensation, it was at that moment that Valyr's determination to grind out authority levels began to waver.

"Should I...?" Though hesitant, the young man reminded himself that there was not much reason to heading to the barren spot at the moment.

For one, it wasn't as if he would lose the privileges to enter the barren spot, nor would the barren spot go anywhere.

Yet, as he let the feeling linger within him, he began to feel a similar sense of regret to what the feeling was trying to convey him.

It felt as if he would be losing out on a massive opportunity if he were to ignore the sensation any longer.

"Haah..." In the end, Valyr made up his mind. "It's not like it'd be difficult to catch up to the other two anyway."

"Plus, I have a massive head start on them... I think."

With that in mind, the young man let out a faint sigh as his body began to be coated in a mix of mana and Shadow Energy.

Then, in an instant, his body turned into a massive blur of black and blue as it swiftly began to head deeper into the center of the ruins.

"[Arcane Shadow Serpent Movement Style]."

"[Arcane Shadow Drive]."

...

Swoosh!

Activating the upgraded version of [Traceless Slither] once more, the young man deftly bobbed and weaved his way through many of the feral humans roaming the streets of the city ruins.

Moving at breakneck speeds, it took around ten minutes or so for him to stand in front of the barrier that separated him and the others from the barren spot, admiring the sight before him from down below.

'Damn...' Looking around his vicinity, Valyr noticed that the perimeter around the barrier was just as barren as the spot inside, spanning at least 50 meters in every direction.

Noticing how a few of the feral humans were looking at him from outside the perimeter every once in a while, the young man held a faint expectation that at least one of them would take the courage to enter it.

"Heh... is that so?" replied the voice, its tone filled with mockery.

"So, if I were to tell you that entering this place is necessary if you want to enter the Gates of Transcendence, you still wouldn't rush over here at the soonest moment possible?"

Naturally, Valyr froze at those words, his mouth opening in slight disbelief.

Hearing that, the young man expected the voice to say something along the lines of its earlier statement being a joke.

Yet, the voice made no follow-up whatsoever.

"You're... actually serious?" Taking in a couple of deep breaths to compose himself, Valyr focused his attention on the voice once more, traces of disbelief still remaining on his face.

"And now you've changed your attitude, huh?" The voice let out a mocking chuckle in response.

Then, not long after, he let out a long sigh.

"In any case, I don't blame for you thinking that way, considering the circumstances."

"Out of the five of you that entered this place, you boast the greatest combat prowess, taking down three quadrant leaders in a row with ease."

"Not only that, but you were able to clear the nine trials the Gates of Awakening threw at you... though I do have to say that part of the reason why you were able to do so was due to the Shard of Defiance's Resonance Mode."

"...?!" Hearing the voice mention the Shard of Defiance, Valyr's eyes widened in shock as multiple alarms went off in his mind.

At the same time, multiple questions filled his mind as well, making him wonder if the voice he was talking to was the same monotonous voice that had been talking to him and the others all throughout their journey to the Triad Gates so far.

"Are you..." Valyr asked, only to be interrupted by the voice.

"I am not. The voice you and the others have been listening to all this time is none other than something I've made in my pastime."

"Either way, it's due time that I properly introduce myself."

Whoosh!

At those words, the statue in front of Valyr began to release a great amount of light, all of which coalesced just a couple meters away from where Valyr stood.

Within seconds, the figure of a man in his 30s appeared before the young man, looking at him with a calm and carefree smile.

Staring at the man that appeared in front of him, Valyr felt immense shock yet again.

However, it was not because of the imposing aura the man exuded.

Instead, it was the fact that the man's appearance was incredibly familiar to him.

"I'm pretty sure you know me very well by this point." The man chuckled as he bowed.

"Nice to meet you, Valyr Zeihardt."

"The name is Vaughn Darkstar."

"I am the sole owner of the Four Pillars' Inheritance."
