Chapter 642 Four Pillars: Reviewing Skills (1)

Ding!

Hearing the ever-familiar bell chime resound throughout his mind in response to his command, a screen soon appeared in front of Valyr's field of vision, filled to the brim with information regarding the skill he had brought up.

Reading through the skill, the young man began to wryly smile as he realized that there was now more techniques within the skill thanks to his now higher stats, as well as the improvements brought about by his subclass.

However, since he had only taken a few brief looks at the skill's old version in the past and didn't really pay the skill much attention, he only knew of the skill's first two techniques.

"To think I've already obtained the ability to fly..." muttered the young man to himself, wryly chuckling as he continued to read through its contents. "Then again, the conditions to do so are incredibly stringent."

[Shadow Serpent Movement Style] (Level 20/20)

Rarity: Uncommon+

The human race is considered to be a race specializing in adaptation. No matter which environment or situation they're thrown in, they would be able to find a way to push past the struggle and be reborn anew.

With that, it was no surprise that after the human race had realized their movements were quite restricted, they had taken inspiration from nature itself, whether it be the various elements making up nature, or the other beings that live within it.

Among those many people that had taken inspiration from nature, one person had decided to take inspiration from a variant of serpents that only exist within the Shadow Plane, commonly known as the Shadow Serpent.

Due to this bizarre move, the skill has gained a level of movement far greater than what other movement skills could offer, with only incredibly rare movement skills being a match for its utility and flexibility.

This skill grants the user the ability to emulate the movements of a Shadow Serpent, making use of the greater flexibility that a normal serpent has access to while combining it with the peculiar properties that Shadow Energy contains.

This style consists of 4 moves, with each subsequent move giving the user more freedom in their movements.

<First Technique: Shadow Warp - Allows the user to make use of the properties of Shadow Energy and teleport to any point within a 5 meter radius. Cooldown: 10 seconds. Cost: 1 Shadow Energy, 500 MP.>

<Second Technique: Serpentine Sprint - Emulate the flexibility of a serpent and bolster it further with Shadow Energy. Increases the user's movement speed by 30% for 5 minutes. Cooldown: 10 minutes. Cost: 3 Shadow Energy, 2,000 MP.>

<Third Technique: Traceless Slither - Fully emulate the flexibility of a serpent and slither at great speeds while Shadow Energy removes any obstacles in your way. Allows the user to travel a great distance within seconds. Maximum distance: 5 kilometers. Cooldown: 5 minutes. Cost: 5 Shadow Energy, 5,000 MP.>

<Ultimate Technique: False Wings of the Shadow Wyvern - Awaken the slumbering bloodline of Shadow Serpents and temporarily obtain the wings of its ancestors. Allows the user to form wings of a Shadow Wyvern and use it to maneuver in the air for 30 minutes. Cooldown: 3 hours. Cost: 10 Shadow Energy, 20,000 MP.>

Though it seemed like the last two moves on the skill could not be often used in combat, Valyr already had multiple ideas lingering in his mind on how to utilize them after reading through their abilities.

"The third and fourth move could definitely be used as escape moves during combat," muttered Valyr to himself as he nodded. "Though, with how long the fourth move lasts, it could also be used to establish an advantage during combat."

With the thought in mind, the young man let out a bit of laughter. "After all, flight is something that's only truly accessible to those reached the peak of Rank 5."

After reading through the skill's description a few more times to familiarize himself and get more ideas on how he could use the techniques in combat, Valyr then sent another command to the system, changing the content that appeared on the screen in front of him.

"Identify [Arcane Shadow Serpent Combat Style]."

Ding!

"I may have read through this skill more often than the accompanying movement style, but with what the Gates of Enlightenment have done to it, I should better familiarize myself with its abilities aside from knowing its new names," said the young man as he focused his attention on the screen once more.

Though, surprisingly, not even a minute into him reading through its description, the young man's eyes widened in disbelief.

"Is this even the same skill I was using during the trial?"

There are various ways to wield the spear... description has been omitted.

Recalling that the Gates of Enlightenment had improved the skill to what it currently was, it was only now did Valyr that the Gates of Enlightenment did not joke around when they said they were giving him a part of the power he would obtain in the future in advance.

Unlike the Intent Seeds he had comprehended and the advancements he had unlocked, the upgraded skill was more tangible in nature, with Valyr having used its abilities many times already.

In fact, while using the abilities contained in the skill, the young man felt that the skill had become more tailored to him, or more specifically, more tailored to his current subclass.

"Is it because Shadow Serpent Manalancer focuses on both my physical and magic abilities?" asked Valyr to himself.

Looking at the skill once more, the young man gradually felt as if the skill seemed to be the culmination of a possible path he could take.

Whether or not it would be the path he would take in the future, that was still up for debate.

Though the connotations of the skill was definitely something he had to ponder about in greater detail, the young man put those thoughts to the side for the meantime, proceeding to identify a skill that he should have looked at a long time ago.

"Identify [Hunter's Tracking Eyes]."
