Chapter 660 Unexpected Hindrance

Angakok had left a soulmark in Max's body precisely for him to be able to transfer to the point inside Max's soul space that was perfectly adjacent to his existing soul vessel.

Unlike in an empty vessel where any teleported soul would be made the anchor, in an existing soul system if a soul was already anchored deep inside a body, a second soul would not be allowed near the first.

The nearer it would try to get to the anchored soul vessel, the bigger the backlash would be, and the more it would struggle to reach the soul vessel.

To avoid this exact scenario, Angakok had placed a soul marker in Max's soul exactly adjacent to his soul vessel, however, for some inexplicable reason he was teleported to a wrong point inside Max's soul space.

It turned out that the thing that Max had tossed away considering it to be filth during his tier6 promotion test was actually Angakok's soul marker, and that had created a lot of complications for the shaman god.

" Someone has tampered with my marker! This is not the point where I was supposed to be transported to " Angakok murmured angrily as he felt his soul energy being drained rapidly out of his soul since it did not have a host body to contain it.

He had expected this to happen and was building soul force to ensure that his soul was strong enough to live comfortably through the loss, however, he began panicking now as he realised that he needed to expend a heck lot of force just to reach Max's soul vessel that he had not initially planned to do.

To make matters even worse for him, the divine essence pump from Khnum that was supposed to help him slow down this soul force drain, abruptly stopped once his soul had entered Max's body, completely negating the instructions he had given the old sea god.

" The first thing I'll do when I wake up is strangle your old throat, you idiot old man" Angakok said with pure rage and hatred as he began swimming towards the point where he felt the resistance and backlash of swimming was getting stronger.

With every small progress that his soul made, he felt decades worth of soul force being sapped, as he felt his souls strength that was meant to be at the peak of tier8 begin to decline fast as years worth of meditative efforts were being expended in what seemed to be a matter of seconds.

Little by little, he inched closer to the glass-like looking container that had a vibrant green soul inside of it, completely different from the dirty black-purple soul that was his own.

It was this soul that Angakok has to oust from the soul vessel and take root himself to successfully take over Max's body, but in what seemed to be a shocking turn of events for the shaman god, he saw a projection of Max standing cross armed infront of his own soul vessel as he looked towards the struggling projection of Angakok with squinted eyes.

" IMPOSSIBLE! HOW DID YOU LEARN HOW TO ENTER THE SOUL SPACE? it's a forbidden art that is only learnt through countless years of meditation and peering into the secrets of the universe.

A boy so young as you should never be able to enter this space! " Angakok said as he couldn't believe his own eyes as to what was going on.

Not even most tier8 monarchs of the modern era knew how to enter their soul spaces. It was a lost art that required one to have a very deep understanding about the functioning of the universe to be able to access.

In theory any being above tier6 could do it, but most struggled even at tier8 to do it. I think you should take a look at

Angakok himself had spent thousands of years in a coma-like state to learn how to enter the soul space, yet somehow, Max had learnt to do it as a young god.

" The soul space? Is that what this is called? Huh-

So the filthy looking thing that was covering my glass vessel the last time I came here was your soul remnants?

It looked exactly like the colour of your soul" Max said, making an observation that during his last visit the thing he considered to be filth looked exactly like Angakok's soul.

" So you tempered with my soul marker… hahaha, very well boy, you shall pay for making me lose so much of my soul energy for nothing " Angakok said in a threatening voice as his heavy chad male type voice was very intimidating in general but was currently ineffective on Max because of a very simple reason.

Max no longer had anything to lose, he was literally going to have to fight Angakok in hopes of keeping control of his body or die- and having his back up against such a wall, he was no longer afraid of Angakok's threats.

There was no reason to be-

Regardless of what the shaman god said the outcome was going to be the same for Max.

There was nothing more that he could threaten Max with other than death and taking over his body.

" I hoped you wouldn't double cross me, but somewhere I always knew deep inside me that a god of your stature would not take such a deep interest in a mortal like me and not want anything in return.

But forgive me, I'll not surrender my body without a fight " Max said as he assumed a fighting stance

Angakok who had lost another several years worth of soul force just because of this small conversation charged at a snail's pace towards Max.

Turns out, there was going to be yet another hiccup in the process of him taking over Max's body and he would need to defeat the boy in battle to get there.
