Max was intrigued by Asiva's story about her Bloodline and the history of the Nightblade clan.

He felt his blood boil when he realised that Asiva's ancestors were used as basically sex-slaves for the birth of potentially new clans and were mistreated by the whole vampire society but especially by the Aurelius clan.

It was a shame that the progenitors of the modern vampire race had to now live in hiding and isolation and Max swore internally that when he became king the Nightblade clan would receive all the respect and recognition it needed as well as an apology from the entire Vampire society for their current condition.

Max was also impressed by Asiva's new powers and especially her moonlight warrior form which made her a potentially deadly assassin.

Thankfully, although Asiva had gotten much stronger after her bloodline awakening her demeanour and personality remained the same.

She was the same sweet girl who loved Max a heck lot and she showed it to him graciously in bed on their first night together in about 2 months.

Max was also pleasantly surprised to see that the state affairs were progressing extremely smoothly.

The demand for potions was unusually high and military orders themselves took up most of master alchemist Grisha's time.

But she had managed to train two apprentices and the output of potions was reaching steady levels bringing consistent income to the Bloodfall clan.

Crime had hit all-time low and even the profit leeching merchants did not protest in over a month now as even they had begun to understand the gravity of the war and began cooperating with government efforts.

The only big issue was the hole that Asiva had burnt through the Bloodfall finances for her Bloodline awakening, but it was still a loss that Max could forego because he understood that it was a necessary expense for Asiva to make.

She could be even considered lucky as had there not been an ongoing war and had every clan not been short on cash, maybe the Velter clan would not have sold her the moon goddess tear.

Finally as Asiva completed telling everything about her life and her duties to Max she asked him about his problems and his life at the battlefield.

" What's bothering you? I see you listening to my problems, but it's like you are listening and analysing them without evaluating them.

I can't express it well but, although you are physically here, it doesn't feel like you are actually here with me right now.

Your mind is wandering in 500 different places and you are not communicating with me properly " Asiva said as she pursed her lips, she understood that battlefield trauma was a real thing and that once a man had seen consistent life and death, other problems pale in comparison, but she wanted to hear Max say that. She wanted to know what all was going inside his head?

" You know, ever since I was small, I saw my brother wage one legendary war after another.

He never seemed unhappy about fighting since death was never real inside Omega-

Even if his elites died in the game, it was not the end of the world.

But this is Sigma

Here death is real.

Everyone says that my victory against the Mercenaries is legendary….. and believe me, I'm very proud of it, but I don't feel happy about it.

If I had an option between gaining fame through the death of Bloodfall clansmen or remaining anonymous, I'd choose anonymity without a shadow of a doubt.

I've lost a lot of good people in this war and I'm bringing many more to join me as if I can guarantee their safety...….

But I can't " Max said with a heavy heart as he projected his true inner feelings to Asiva.

Asiva pursed her lips, she had always known that deep down in his core Max was a good guy. He wasn't ruthless like the other monarchs, he wasn't someone who had become immune to life and death of mortals and saw it as something trivial.

He was a Lord that actually cared about his soldier's, just like her father was, yet she also understood that this universe was a way too cruel place for individuals like Max and her father to live.

Despite living in the light faction, kindness was still a weakness to have when one was chasing after a man like Regus Aurelius.

" Also, I'm closing in on my tier6 promotion.

It's happening in record time I think, as after merging with the clone at the end of the Mercenary war, I gained an unbelievable amount of EXP.

The war is a very fast way to level up and all of us including Sebastian and Anna are becoming stronger at an alarming speed.

Usually it would be a good thing, except I have a gnawing feeling in my heart that it's exactly what Angakok has trained me for.

That God is the most selfish individual I've ever met, despite everything that he has done for me, I know there is some angle of his own personal profit behind it which I haven't figured out yet.

My intuition tells me that whatever Angakok wishes to do with me, he will make his move after I've become a god.

He has orchestrated this whole playing field for me and I can't get it out of my head that I'm just dancing on his palm " Max said as he frankly told Asiva that he was scared by what Angakok actually wanted for him.

For a tier8 god to go to the lengths at which Angakok went just to make a mortal stronger could not be without a catch.

And by the effort he had put into the process Max was sure that it was a big one.

Asiva listened to all of Max's problems and then gently gave him a deep kiss.

She had no idea as to how to lighten his burdens but she knew one thing for sure.

" You won't become like the other god's. You won't become heartless once you become tier6 and whatever Angakok wants from you, I'm sure you will be able to handle him as well.

I'm sure of this because you will have a very solid reason not to let your heart turn cold.

Firstly because you will have a beautiful wife like me in your life that you can't help but love a lot " Asiva said half teasingly and half seriously as Max chuckled because of the underlying threat in her words.

" And secondly because you will have a very cute little Max running around soon…. " She said as she put Max's hand over her belly and smiled brightly as she looked into his eyes.

" I'm about 53 days into pregnancy…. We're going to have a baby soon " Asiva revealed.
