Chapter 109 [Bonus ]Mage Societies And Polygamy

After finishing his explanation, Koyuki and Greed began discussing the potential consequences and impact of this revelation on Sylvana.

"It's fortunate that we discovered this before anyone from the Path of Knowledge faction did. And we're also lucky to have all the Willow family researchers in our jail cell. Otherwise, they might have connected the dots when they saw Sylvana's intelligence or witnessed her displaying advanced knowledge to the world," Greed said, expressing relief.

"Danny, how should we raise her? Should we send her to a regular school like other children? She already possesses the knowledge to work as a cosmologist. I'm concerned that she'll be socially isolated from her peers," Koyuki asked, her worries for her daughter's future evident. While she appreciated Sylvana's genius and advanced knowledge, she didn't want her to be deprived of a normal childhood or isolated from other children.

Daniel pondered the question for a moment before responding. "I know it may seem foolish and potentially risky, but I want her to experience a normal childhood, just like any other child. Yes, she's a genius, but she's still a curious child who craves interaction and friendships with peers," Daniel explained, his expression serious as he reminisced about his own childhood.

"And you also don't want her to have the same kind of childhood you had, right?" Koyuki added, showing her understanding. Having lived with Daniel for years, she knew him better than anyone else.

"Yes," Daniel admitted. Part of his desire for Sylvana to attend a regular school stemmed from his own unfulfilled childhood dreams. He acknowledged that it might seem selfish, like parents imposing their own wishes on their child, but he vowed that if he noticed Sylvana wasn't thriving in that environment, he would make the necessary adjustments.

Upon hearing this, Greed smiled and opened her suitcase, revealing a stack of papers that she placed on Daniel's desk.

"What's this?" Daniel asked, puzzled, as he picked up the stack of papers to examine them.

To his surprise, he found documents pertaining to his own identity as Daniel Emberweave, a U.S. national with Greek ancestry. The roots of his family traced back to the golden age of Athens. Among the documents, he also discovered new identities for Koyuki and Sylvana—Koyuki Emberweave and Sylvana Emberweave.

In addition, there was another document—a mage ID bearing his name, Daniel Emberweave, with the alias "Magitek." His expertise was listed as Atlantean Artifice and Ancient Alchemy.

"This... How did you manage to obtain this?" Daniel asked, pleasantly surprised by the revelation.

As he examined the document, he realized its authenticity and understood that it could resolve many of his current challenges. Having a mage ID would provide him with a sense of security and remove numerous obstacles he might encounter in the Curtained World.

"Heh, do you even need to ask? I'm the wealthiest person on Earth!" Greed boasted with a smug smile before continuing. "And your mage ID was a gift from Aunt Envy. She expressed her gratitude to you for giving the members of her faction an opportunity to learn from you."

"Furthermore... I have decided to establish a branch of the Golden Empire group here in Southeast Asia. So, it seems I'll need to stay here for an extended period of time," Greed announced.

Upon hearing this, Daniel furrowed his brow. He was aware that after Victor's downfall, Lucius, the rightful heir to the throne, had disappeared. Or rather, he was in hiding, as his status as the Hightower councilor had been temporarily revoked for a month. Daniel anticipated that Lucius would not resurface until that time had passed.

The power vacuum created by Lucius's absence had sparked the ambitions of many individuals vying for the throne. In recent days, numerous army generals claiming to be distant relatives of Victor or possessing royal blood had emerged. One of the strongest contenders was General Nicholas Sullivan, who had served as the right-hand man to Victor's father and subsequently to Victor himself. With Victor's disappearance, Sullivan's ambition had surfaced, and his presence dominated the television broadcasts.

Overall, the current situation in the Tessia Kingdom was far from stable, making it less than ideal for Greed to establish a branch there.

"Are you certain about this? The political climate here is highly volatile," Daniel expressed his concern for Greed.

"Oh? Are you worried about me? Hmm Hmmm!" Greed hummed gleefully before continuing, "Don't fret too much. I have my own ways of dealing with individuals like them. Besides, Wrath might become jealous if you worry about me too much," she teased.

Daniel glanced at his girlfriend, who pouted slightly but didn't say anything. She then embraced him from behind. "It's alright, Danny. Greed is my dear friend, and I'd rather it be her than some unknown woman elsewhere. If it's just the seven of us, including me, I don't mind. As long as you can spend time with each of us one day," Koyuki whispered into his ear, her embrace intimate. This caused Greed, who had just been teasing Daniel, to blush.

Witnessing the intimate moment between Wrath and Daniel, Greed found herself at a loss for how to react. Should she leave or stay? Eventually, she chose to make herself scarce.

"Uh... Right! Yes! I actually have a very important meeting to attend. Um... Bye!" Greed stammered, quickly making her exit as if fleeing from something. Her face flushed with embarrassment, she struggled to articulate her words while suppressing her blushing cheeks.

After Greed hastily exited the room, Wrath released her grip on Daniel.

"See? Dealing with her isn't that difficult. She's much more of a girly type than I was back when I was still an idol. She may act like a capable female CEO most of the time, but she enjoys those K-Drama sob stories," Koyuki remarked, smirking.

"Oh? Weren't you similar to her? You also enjoyed those sob stories and even some dreamy romance novels. I recall the novel you read back then... was it..." Daniel tried to remember the name of the most embarrassing novel she had read.

"You're treading on thin ice, Danny. Be careful what you're about to say," Koyuki smiled mischievously, teasing Daniel before hugging him once again.

"Oh! I remember. It's called 'Kiss Me, Mr. CEO.' I think it's about a CEO who is stronger than her bodyguard!" Daniel blurted out the name of the novel she had read.

"You're terrible, you know that," Koyuki chuckled, lightly hitting Daniel's chest.

The couple enjoyed their lighthearted banter for a few more moments before Daniel shifted the conversation.

"Tell me, Koyuki, why were you trying to play matchmaker with Maria, Michaela, and even Miss Greed? I remember back then you seemed quite jealous when I jokingly recreated the 'Distracted Boyfriend' meme," Daniel asked, half-jokingly.

Hearing this, Koyuki's expression faltered slightly. She hugged her boyfriend tighter and responded with a smile.

"I know what you're thinking, Danny. I know that you love me and want what's best for me. If you were just Daniel, a normal guy who happened to survive that ritual, I would keep you to myself and wouldn't even allow you to go out because I have many enemies.

But you're Daniel the mage and an expert in Atlantean Artifice and Ancient Alchemy. Those power-hungry mages won't leave you alone. They will try to match you with their daughters or nieces. If you reject them, you'll be isolated by mage societies, and that isolation could eventually turn you into a demon in their eyes, making you the enemy of the entire mage society, or even the entire Curtained World," Koyuki explained.

"I understand the mages' greed and their desire to bond with me to gain access to my knowledge or use me, but why do mages need multiple partners?" Daniel inquired.

Koyuki looked at her boyfriend's face, smiling before she began to explain.

"You're just entering the Curtained World and starting to carve out your place, building your own workshop and company. You might not know this, but mages live several times longer than normal people. However, despite their long lives, their fertility rates are the same as elves', and in some cases, even more challenging to conceive children.

The reason is that, in addition to their Magic Vein, once a mage has activated their magic vein, they also awaken their Origin Element. If their Origin Element is incompatible with their partner's, no matter how hard they try, they cannot have children together. That's why polygamy is a common practice among mages. Furthermore, if you love a Witch like me, you would even need a partner who is Non-Witch because Witches cannot have children with humans," Koyuki explained with a smile.

"And trust me, they won't stop bothering you until you have at least three partners," Koyuki continued.

"That's why I'd rather let you have someone I know and trust as partners, rather than some unknown gold digger out there," Wrath added.

Hearing that, Daniel smiled. It would be dishonest to say he had never dreamed of being pampered by multiple beautiful partners. He would be a hypocrite if he claimed he had no interest at all. However, he didn't want the headaches that came with the power struggles depicted in dramas about imperial palaces.

"Sigh... Let's just let nature take its course, shall we?" Daniel sighed, wearing a smile as he kissed his girlfriend, who reciprocated his affection.

Daniel swiftly pressed the button on his desk, locking the door and switching the display to 'Do Not Disturb.' Koyuki followed suit, removing her jacket and shirt. The couple engaged in a passionate encounter, the intensity amplified by the fact that they hadn't engaged in such activities for at least ten years.
