''Aunt'' Brenda was the first to hug Mrs. Kate when they saw her getting down from the car. They had come outside their apartment to wait when Kristine sent them a text earlier on.

''Brenda, how are you girls doing?''

Taking turns to hug her, the ladies smiled happily as they crowded around her.

''Aunt, I missed you'' Jenny said.

''Jenny, how is life treating you?''

''Aunt, thanks to the tonics you send us frequently, my skin is milky now''

''Still fun as always. I am tired. Someone was busy with love and came for me late'' she said and glanced between Ronald and Kristine.

''Mom…''

They finally got inside and Chloe brought a glass of juice to Mrs. Kate and they sat together in the hall chatting. Ronald and Kristine walked out after putting the luggage inside the guestroom.

''Ronald, I hope your attitude is as good as your looks. If you make my daughter unhappy, I will slice your throat with a bread knife.

Ronald touched his throat and wondered if threatening people were part of their lives. First, he was threatened by the ladies and now Kristine's mother.

''Aunt, you don't have to worry about that. I am confident that I can make Kristine happy'' Ronald said and looked at Kristine, 'aunt, I will leave you to spend time with the ladies. But I will come around tomorrow and take you out''

''Really?''

''Yes, we still haven't finished our talk. I have a friend who might interested in some useful information and advice from you. He is considering going into the sector''

''That will be great. It will help me from getting bored surrounded by these girls the whole day''

''Aunt, we want to spend time with you too'' Chloe said.

''We have the night together. Ronald, I will be expecting your call tomorrow''

''I will definitely do that. ladies, I will see you tomorrow''

''Sure, bye'' Jenny waved at him and he smiled.

''I will see him off and be back soon'' Kristine said and went out with Ronald.

Ronald watched Kristine acting shy and he chuckled, ''cute'' he muttered and she looked up.

''What is cute?''

''Nothing.

''Thanks for being so free with my mom''

''I told you I can hit it off with older people, besides your mother is very intelligent and beautiful. I see the resemblance between you two''

''Are you saying I have a lot in common with my mom?''

''Yes, am I wrong?''

''Not exactly, a lot of people say that. that's why she doesn't understand why I want to follow my own path instead of following her''

''You are your own person''

''Thank you for coming''

''Sure, I will call you later on. Go in and have fun with the rest. Don't think about anything else''

''Bye''

Kristine waited till his car was out of sight before she turned to go in. She frowned and looked up seeing the faces of the people inside. Indeed, they were watching her. She opened the door and saw them scurrying over to their seats.

''I saw all of you'' Kristine said to them and her mother stretched her arms wide.

''Come here, babe. I missed you so much'' Mrs. Kate said and hugged Kristine.

''Tell me, how is work? Jenny, is someone bullying you two over there?''

''No, aunt. Our working environment is quite good''

''I told you. Why would someone bully us?'' Kristine murmured.

''Aunt, food is ready. You must be hungry'' Brenda and Chloe finished setting the table and walked to the hall.

''If only daughters could be exchanged. I would have done that a long time ago. Brenda, you are my first daughter''

''Off course, aunt'' Brenda held Mrs. Kate's hand and they walked towards the dining table.

''So, Kris found herself a physician. Was that your work?'' Mrs. Kate asked the girls.

''No, aunt. Kristine found him herself. It was more like a fated meeting between them'' Chloe said.

''Is that so?''

''Mom, we are just friends. I hope you don't jump into conclusions yet''

''What? That boy clearly likes you. all of us can see that'' Mrs. Kate said and the trio nodded their heads in agreement.

''I told you. I am not going to jump into conclusions yet. Don't put thoughts into my head''

''Kris, just accept it. All of us can see how he looks at you'' Jenny added.

''Well, he isn't so bad. Mom, he even saved Kris when her low sugar was acting up. She bumped into him at Neo island and then, they met again in D-City. isn't that fate?'' Jenny said excitedly and Brenda smiled shaking her head while looking into her phone. She was reading some messages left for her by her assistant.

''That is indeed a fated meeting. He even knows how to communicate with the older generation. Girl, you don't get that every day. He might just turn out to be better than that actor'' Mrs. Kate looked at Kristine, ''you shouldn't cry over spilt milk. I know it hurts but that guy was never good to begin with. Just toss him out the door''

''I really love how liberal you are mom, but I am different. When I love someone, I do it wholeheartedly''

''Yeah, that you got from your father''

''Eeewwwwh, check this out, I will send the link to your phones immediately'' Brenda suddenly said and started typing away. A moment later, everyone's phone including Mrs. Kate.

''Breaking news. Kris, did you see that?'' Jenny asked as she read the currently trending scandal of Actor Rayna.

''How did this happen?'' Kristine was puzzled.

''This is the best news I've heard so far. damn, karma is a b*tch!!!'' Chloe sounded excited too.

''So that boy was this messed up? Kris, you are lucky you didn't marry this man whore'' her mother added.

''I don't understand'' Kristine said and everyone looked at her.

''What don't you understand?''

''Don't you all find this weird. I mean not that I feel pity for him or something. But, the timing of this isn't right''

''Kris, you better not be feeling sad for this idiot''

''Preach Jenny, preach'' Chloe said.

''I am not feeling sad for him. I am glad something like this happened to him, but I just can't help feeling that there is something strange about this''

''Girls, eat your food and leave this silly girl to babble on'' Mrs. Kate said.

Kristine thought of what Ronald said to her in the car earlier that day. She couldn't help but feel that he had a hand in what happened.

Ray's scandal was too big. A top star getting his sex video and ambiguous photos with other actresses coming to light wasn't such a good thing. It would destroy his reputation and might end his career. The scandal, the audio recording along with the photos were no. 1 on trending issues now.

Kristine put the phone away and started eating her food. It was not her business what happened to him now because they were no longer together. He was now a stranger to her, someone she didn't have anything doing with anymore.

''This meat especially delicious today. Must be because that scumbag got served'' Brenda said and everyone nodded in agreement.

After the meal, they girls chatted with Mrs. Kate for some time until late into the night before they all retired to their rooms to sleep.

Kristine finished taking her bath and sat on her bed, looking at her phone. She had a premonition that what happened to Ray was Ronald's doing. She didn't feel pity for Ray. If anything, he meant nothing to her and for the fact that Ronald did what he did, it meant he was trying to make her feel better and be able to move on from the past.

She looked at the number of Ronald for some time and was about to call him when his call came in instead. she chuckled, ''is this guy a psyche?''

''Hello'' she answered.

''Are you sleeping?'' Ronald asked.

''No, what about you. It's late, why are you not asleep yet?''

''I was reading a medical report on someone I am going to perform surgery on soon. Did you have a nice time with your mother and the ladies?''

''En, I had a nice time. Ronald, can I ask you something?''

''You want to know whether I have a hand in the scandal of your ex or not?''

Kristine was startled for a moment.

''Your thoughts are right. I hate seeing you cry because of someone like him. I did it in a moment of anger but I don't regret it. You are allowed to be mad at me, Kristine but I hate seeing you cry because of another man''

''I am not angry with you. I wanted to thank you for doing that for me''

''You are thanking me?''

''En, you did it because of me. I don't have any hard feelings towards what you did. Thank you for proving that you want to see me happy. But, next time, I prefer that you let me handle it. I wasn't planning to let him go anyways. I was just busy with other things and never got around to making him pay, but all the same. I feel satisfied with what you did''

''I think there are a lot of things I don't know about you, Kris. I thought you were a calm lamb who couldn't protect herself?''

''Maybe you should get to know me properly then. I might be quiet but I can be a vengeful person''

They spoke for a long time with them telling each other a lot of things about the other and laughing at their own jokes.

After the call, Kristine felt she hadn't been this carefree with anyone apart from her friends before. She felt she was comfortable around Ronald. She slept that night soundly and for the first time, she started seeing someone else in her dreams now.
