Chapter 67: The danger lurking in the dark

Liyah Myers entered her house and immediately looked the door. She ran to the opened windows and closed them all the while being anxious. She returned to the hall and paced to and fro until the doorbell rang. She looked at the door and her phone buzzed. She looked at her phone and saw a message from Leo Martins.

She quickly went to the door and opened it. The moment Leo Martins got inside, Liyah Myers bounced on him hugging him tight.

Leo Martins caught her and blinked confused before he heard Liyah saying ''I was so scared''.

Leo Martins smiled and released her saying ''no need to be afraid, I am here''.

Liyah Myers realised Leo Martins was still holding unto her waist and blushed before stepping back and tripped. Leo immediately tightened his grip on her preventing her from falling. He steadied her and Liyah Myers looked away flushed.

They walked to the hall and Liyah Myers pointed at the sofa saying ''you can sit anywhere you like. I will bring you something to drink''. Liyah Myers turned to go and Leo Martins spoke 'water will do'' Liyah Myers nodded her water and went to pour the water.

Leo Martins looked at the hall and saw the box of wine on the table. He looked at it and picked it. He read the label and Liyah Myers returned with the glass of water and saw him holding the wine. Leo Martins showed her the wine and asked ''you were scared but had the time to buy wine?''

Liyah Myers put the water on the table and snatched the box from him saying ''I bought the wine on my way home. I'm guessing that's where she followed me from''. Liyah Myers put the box next to her as she sat across Leo Martins.

Leo Martins smiled and looked at the sofa saying ''this is the first time I am inside your house after a year, right? Since the housewarming party?''

''Yes. I can't believe is already a year''. Liyah Myers said as she clasped her hands together. An act she does when she is nervous. ''Were you busy? I heard voices on the background'' Liyah Myers asked.

''I was with my comrades. We were having a welcome party for one of our men who returned after suffering an injury''. Leo Martins told her.

''I'm sorry for calling you out like this. I was so scared and didn't know who to call. Aaron isn't around, so I just called you impulsively''. Liyah Myers said as she looked everywhere but his face.

''I'm glad you called me first. From now onwards, make sure I am the first person you call if anything happens'' Leo Martins said and looked at Liyah Myers locking gaze with her. He held her gaze for a few seconds and Liyah Myers looked away blushing. Her heartbeat was extreme at this moment and she feared that Leo Martins might be able to hear her so she looked away.

Leo Martins looked at her again adding ''I will be happy to if you call me without any reason''.

''Huh?'' Liyah Myers looked at him blushing and her face turned red.

''Now that I think about it, this is the first time you've called me. I am the one who always called. That is so unfair, Liyah Myers''. Leo Martins said and smiled.

Liyah Myers blushed hard and turned her face down looking at the floor as she apologised ''I'm sorry''.

''I didn't say that to get an apology? You can start calling me from now onwards, with or without a reason, Liyah''. Leo Martins looked at the way Liyah Myers refused to look at him. She kept starring at the floor making him wonder if he was that ugly to look at.

Leo Martins stood up and leaned towards her. Liyah Myers looked up falling unto the sofa with bulged eyes and Leo Martins smiled adding ''you are now looking at me, Liyah Myers. I thought I was so ugly that you didn't want to look at me. That's why you keep starring at the floor''.

''You're beautiful'' Liyah Myers closed her mouth and looked away immediately after realising what she just did. She thought she must have gone crazy for a moment. She instinctively hit her head berating herself for acting like a foolish teenager in love.

Leo Martins caught her hand as she lifted it to hit herself again and Liyah Myers turned and looked at him. Leo Martins looked at her seductively with said ''Why are you hitting yourself? I liked your compliment''.

Liyah Myers stood up impulsively because he was extremely closed to her and ended up falling into his embrace and he held her tightly.

Liyah Myers could hear her own heart beating faster than ever. Perhaps because she was busy concentrating on her own heartbeat that she failed to hear the heartbeat of the man holding her.

Liyah Myers pushed Leo Martins away and he fell on the sofa and she looked at him bashfully saying before she took the wine box running to her room ''I'm sorry''.

Leo Martins sat on the sofa in the position that he fell and looked at the retracting figure running from him and laughed. He found her actions cute and adorable. She was just like a shy kitten. He touched his heart and smiled sitting back comfortably in the sofa.

Liyah Myers got into her room and put the box on her bed and stood berated herself. ''Beautiful? Liyah, Liyah. Couldn't you have found another word but beautiful? Who uses beautiful for men these days? Now he is going to think you are crazy. How did it come to this?''

Liyah Myers sat on the bed ''he just came here because you called him and whined like a scared cat. How could you be lusting after him when you're in this situation? Listen to me, Liyah. I am warning you, he is not that kind of man. He is not someone you can have designs on. He is too good for you. You've been doing well so far liking him from afar. Let's admire him and love him from afar but don't you dare harbour any other thoughts about him, okay?"

"Good, now that you know he is way out of your league, you should know how to behave. You can't act like a lustful dog in front of him. Be a good girl Liyah or I will break your legs''.

After berating herself, Liyah Myers walked out of the room. She saw Leo Martins opening the fridge and walked to him. Leo removed some eggs and vegetables from the fridge saying ''you haven't eaten right? I didn't eat anything before coming and I'm starving. I will prepare us something quick to eat. Is that okay by you?''

''You've already invaded the kitchen like is yours, why are you asking if I'm okay with it? Will it change the fact that you are making yourself at home in another person's house?''

Liyah Myers wanted to say those words to him but after looking at him and the way his smile mesmerised her, she swallowed her words back simply responding with a nod and adding ''yes, I'm okay''

Leo Martins smiled and turned to the stove and lit it up. Liyah Myers walked to the table separating the dining table from the kitchen and stood up looking at him.

His every moment captured and mesmerised her as she looked at him. Her eyes landed on his ass and she murmured ''nice ass'' and quickly hit her mouth looking away.
