Chapter 105 Back To The Scholar's Inn

After finished removing the memories of the victims and helping them remove the goblins' disgusting seeds from their bodies, Lyan immediately left despite the nurses' attempt to force him to wait until the girls woke up.

(I guess I used too much mana) (Lyan)

There are hundreds of women inside the victims' campsite. Even though removing their memories and removing the goblins' seeds from inside a person need only a little amount of mana because of Lyan's great mana efficiency output, doing it to hundreds of people still drains a lot.

(It's still just less than two weeks since I arrived in this world. It's not strange for my body to haven't completely adapted with my mana yet) (Lyan)

"But I guess it's perfect. Looks like I'll have a night of great sleep at the inn," (Lyan)

According to his memory, after considering his youthful look, it seems to be his face when he was around 19. It's still his growing age, so he should have enough rest to make sure his body grows better than in his previous life.

(I want to laze around with books after a long time too. But sure...) (Lyan)

Lyan stop in his tracks as he took a single glance at the back.

"Seems like the ones assigned to pester me are quite skilled," (Lyan)

After leaving the victims' campsite, Lyan didn't use his illusion magic to travel in stealth anymore and walk openly. After several minutes of walking, he could sense gazes from several directions, clearly looking and observing him.

He could vaguely sense the uncomfortable feeling of being gazed at, but the ones tailing him skillfully hid their bloodlust and seems to be observing him for an appropriate distance enough for him to have difficulties and pinpointing their directions.

(The plan is to make them know that I'm going to the Scholar's Inn. I need to make sure that they won't set their eyes on the girls in the House of Roses) (Lyan)

Lyan stop in the middle of the small alley for a while, but no one came to assault him.

(So today is just surveillance, huh? Then let's just quickly go and enjoy some books) (Lyan)

Lyan then went to the Scholar's inn in a good mood. As he entered the entrance, the great sensation of bibliosmia entered his nostrils, immediately improving his mood and relaxing his whole body.

He went to the reception desk after inhaling the relaxing scent to his satisfaction, and a familiar face entered his view.

"Ah. Sir Lyan, it's been a while since we met each other, isn't it?" A polite yet enchanting voice called into him as a reddish-brown hair that prettily braided to the side entered his sight.

"You're right, Lady Jessica. I rarely return to the inn, and whenever I do, you seem to have other business to attend, after all," Lyan replied in the same polite manner. It's very faint and hidden, but he noticed a strange light in her eyes when he mentioned about the other business she was attending.

(I touched a sensitive spot, huh?) (Lyan)

"Now that I think about it, I only paid for my room for a week, didn't I? It's already three days past last week, I'm only going to stay until tomorrow night, so could you let me pay the sum of the additional five days and the nine portions of food for the remaining days?" Lyan swiftly changes the topic.

"Fufufu! Then it's all 1400 Elnes," Jessica answered with a smile.

"1400? It's surprisingly pricier than before," (Lyan)

"Of course. The price before was just a discount for your first-time lodging, after all. And since my dear guest seems to have just gotten a huge sum of money, this amount won't bother you, right?" (Jessica)

"...Words sure travel fast. Or was it just your excellent information network in action?" (Lyan)

"Fufufu! It's a piece of information that not only the whole city, but even the neighboring territories had heard, sir Lyan. It's just that I'm quite confident in my memorizing ability, and you have an air that is difficult to forget around you. So when I heard about the piece of news, I immediately remember that it was your last name," (Jessica)

(Hou... So she knew, huh? Well, I did give her my full name when I registered for the lodging before, didn't I?) (Lyan)

"I see. Seems like telling my full name was a mistake, huh?" Lyan put the 1400 Elnes on the desk.

"Here is your key," Jessica stretch her hand and show the inn key's on her hand, asking him to take them.

When Lyan is about to take it, she suddenly continues-

"But talking about information, I heard that the great [Devil Mercenary] died together with some of the Crimson Talon's mercenary troupe members. I'm glad that it was just a false rumor," Continued her as she deliberately touches Lyan's hand when he took the room's key.

"Of course, I won't die that easily. It will be a shame if I can't return to such a fine library-like inn, after all," (Lyan)

"I'm glad that you liked the inn. Please have a good rest," Jessica gave a polite bow with a happy beautiful smile that seem to appear because of the praise for the inn imprinted on her face.

(I see... Looks like some people came to this inn just to see her rather than enjoying the inn itself, huh? Well, having such a beauty attending the reception desk, I guess it's not that surprising) (Lyan)

Lyan was about to went to the stairs, but some familiar voices suddenly approached from the dining hall.

"Lichia-chan! Are you sure you're okay? Your face is very pale, you know? It had been that way since this afternoon... Shouldn't we go check to a physician?"

"I'm fine, Rea. I'm not ill. It's just... A slight shock because of a certain thing..."

"Is it because of the news about that shitty Jean!? I know he looks horrible when he returns to the city, but I believe his condition is something that he brought to himself! Like I've said, there is no need to worry about that kind of guy!!"

"No, not about him. I'm actually worried about- Eh?"

"Worried about? Why do you suddenly stop?" Rea asked Lichia that suddenly stopped in her tracks and stared forward with widened eyes. She looks shocked as if she's looking at a person that should be dead.

"Ah! It's Lyan! The plan works very smoothly, isn't it!? Praise me! Praise me!" Rea that saw Lyan immediately has her face brightened up and approached him like a child as she ask him to praise her.

"Yeah, you did great. The plan worked great because of your dialogue in front of the guild. People really thought I'm leaving with that wagon because of you. Good job, Rea," Lyan pats Rea's head as she saw the familiarity of her with Azelia the great nature spirit.

"Eh? Plan? Rea did? In front of the guild? H-Huh!?!?!?!?" (Lichia)

******************************************************

"I see... So that's the story..." Lichia put the mug of her drink with a thud on the table.

"So you deliberately ask Rea to do a farewell dialogue in front of the guild to make those who are targeting you will though that you're going to leave the city with that wagon together with the chests of gold," (Lichia)

"But you actually left the wagon together with the chests of gold before you left the city, and let the wagon continue to went to the northern route, and made them foolishly follow it... To think that such a plan would succeed so smoothly..." Lichia uttered bitterly as she felt embarrassed because of her actions after thinking that Lyan also got killed by the undead that suddenly appeared.

Of course, the plan is not as easy as she just uttered. Lyan asked the girls of the house to share the rumor about him leaving the city first, so his dialogue with Rea in front of the guild is only the final blow to make his pursuers believe he's leaving.

After Jean and his lackeys went after the empty wagon, Lyan asked Abraham and the others to share the rumor about how the crimson talon got utterly destroyed after trying to rob Lyan. Because of those hot rumors, the time when Jean return to the city with dirty clothes and fear written all over his face, the rumor got even hotter and those trying to target Lyan and his golds also got fewer.

Normally, Lichia would notice that there are several holes in Lyan's story. Like how did he manage to stealthily leave the wagon under surveillance and how could he leave the wagon while carrying such heavy chests of gold?

But since they are inside his room, he's constantly made deliberate eye contact with her and sent a faint hypnotic spell to her.

"But!" (Lichia)

But unlike his expectation, there is a certain question of hers that she couldn't just let pass easily.

"That undead. How could it appear from your wagon, Lyan?
