Chapter 30 - Returning to the Zhou Mansion

"Alright, Xing Chen. Mom believes in you." Since Liang Wenrui said this, he didn't stay any longer. He picked up his bag, glanced at Liang Jia, and then lifted his feet to leave.

Liang Jia hurried to follow her to the main entrance. When they arrived, Liang Wenrui suppressed his voice and said to her, "Xing Chen may still keep you here, but you know what you should do."

Finished speaking, he didn't look at the troubled expression on Liang Jia's face and directly left.

For a moment, only Zhou Xing Chen and Liang Jia were left in the large room.

Liang Jia turned around and slowly walked to Zhou Xing Chen's side.

Zhou Xing Chen watched as Liang Jia's figure drew closer and closer to him, but he decided that they had to move further and further away. He felt an indescribable sense of fear in his heart, and as Liang Jia drew closer to him, she pulled her into her arms.

He whispered in her ear, "Don't go back to the Zhou Mansion. Stay here with me."

Liang Jia was astounded, her lips parted like flower petals, and her pupils contracted. What did Zhou Xing Chen count for? Didn't he hate him? At a time like this, it should be better to draw a clear line between them first, right?

Her heart trembled, but the bowstring in her mind was so tight that she remembered Liang Wenrui's instructions and hadn't forgotten it in the slightest. She pushed Zhou Xing Chen away and said, "I think it's better if I go back to the Zhou Mansion."

As he spoke, he turned his head away from Zhou Xing Chen.

Zhou Xing Chen looked at the calm and tranquil Liang Jia in front of him. He felt very familiar with her, but also very unfamiliar.

He laughed self-deprecatingly and said, "Don't say that, I don't agree."

Liang Jia frowned, then he said, "You stay here well. I'll go back to the company first."

The more she thought about it in the sports car, the more resentful she became. Liang Wenrui and Liang Jia weren't easy to deal with. What was even more difficult was that Xing Chen still didn't intend to return Liang Jia to her. Thinking of this, her heart tightened. Zhou Xing Chen … did he really want to keep her by his side so much?

Xia Qin'er bit her lower lip and pulled out her cell phone to dial a number.

"Li Hai, can you do me a favor?"

Don't blame me, Xing Chen. I just love you too much.

In the afternoon, when Liang Jia heard the noise outside the villa, she felt that it was getting louder and weirder. Usually, private residences were very quiet, so why were they making such a ruckus today?

In fact, she had an answer in her mind. She quietly pulled the curtain aside and sure enough, there were a lot of reporters gathered outside. They were all playing the brand of a company.

Her white face turned even paler, and her hands trembled slightly. It was obvious that someone was targeting Zhou Xing Chen's villa, with the address being leaked and the reporters outside shouting her questions. It seemed that they already knew that she was here, so someone was targeting her …

An idea flashed through Liang Jia's mind. She didn't have the time to grab hold of it as she absentmindedly heard the roar of a car.

Lifting up a corner of the curtain, Liang Jia saw Zhou Xing Chen's car parked directly in front of the door.

Only after the assistant dispersed the crowd did Zhou Xing Chen get out of the car and quickly enter the villa.

"Liang Jia." Zhou Xing Chen called out her name.

Liang Jia wore a long, white dress with a light veil covering it. Her long, curly hair was loose and tied up, making her look lazy and noble.

Seeing her come down the stairs, Zhou Xing Chen took her hand and led her away.

As soon as the door opened, the reporter saw Zhou Xing Chen appear with the female protagonist, and he pounced on him like a madman. Zhou Xing Chen protected Liang Jia as he pushed open the microphones one by one.

The assistant quickly opened the car door when he saw Zhou Weiqing, welcoming the two into the car. The driver stepped on the accelerator and sped off into the distance. In his rearview mirror, he could still see the unrelenting reporters chasing the car.

Only now did Zhou Xing Chen have the time to look at Liang Jia. He had not expected Liang Jia's face to be so pale, with beads of sweat dripping down her forehead and her lips as white as paper.

Zhou Xing Chen touched her shoulder and noticed that her body was trembling slightly. Frowning, he asked, "What's wrong?"

"It's nothing. I sprained my ankle." Liang Jia feigned a carefree attitude, but her words contained a hint of pain.

"Let me see." Just as Zhou Xing Chen was about to bend over, he heard a cold voice say, "No need."

He raised his head and saw Liang Jia supporting her forehead with her hands. Her brows were tightly knitted and her face was filled with pain.

Liang Jia said, "If you let me go back to the Zhou Mansion at the beginning, nothing would happen."

Was she blaming herself? Zhou Xing Chen looked at her. This Liang Jia, who had always been submissive to him and had always smiled at him, actually blamed him as well.

Liang Jia's forehead was supported by her hand, covering the upper half of her face. Zhou Xing Chen could only see a line of clear, sparkling tears running down her sharp chin.

Liang Jia's voice was somewhat choked with emotion. "You've always been like this. Arrogant and conceited, only you can do whatever you want. It was like this when you ran away from the marriage, and it's the same now."

"You've always placed others at the center of danger to help yourself."

"I …" Zhou Xing Chen only said one word, his heart ice-cold. Liang Jia was right, he was the one who had proposed to marry, and he also hadn't left with Xia Qin'er at the wedding. He was the one who had brought Xia Qin'er to the villa, and he was also the one who had chased Xia Qin'er away for Liang Jia.

However, this was him. His way of doing things was always based on good and bad, not on right or wrong. This was him, Zhou Xing Chen.

But now, he looked at the current Liang Jia. She was so far away from him, he couldn't see or feel or catch her … He suddenly wasn't sure of himself.

"Take me back to the Zhou family." Liang Jia rubbed her eyes and turned her head to look outside the window. Rows after rows of trees cast shadows across the blue sky, reflecting Liang Jia's newly washed clear eyes.

"Alright." He looked deeply at Liang Jia's back, a few strands of her hair falling down, the white gauze fluttering along the road, the sunlight crisscrossing each other. She looked so thin, so frail. Zhou Xing Chen couldn't help but reach out to hug Liang Jia, to comfort her, to protect her. In the end, his hand slowly fell down as he lightly ordered the driver, "Go to the Zhou Mansion."

After settling down Liang Jia, Zhou Xing Chen's heart was filled with dissatisfaction. He returned to the company and looked at the news that filled the sky, his heart fretting. This time, however, he had met someone he had never expected.

"Qin'er?"

When Xia Xin`er knocked on the door to Zhou Xing Chen's office, Zhou Xing Chen was holding a document in his hands. Although his eyes were focused on the document, he was absent-minded and was thinking about Liang Jia.

"Why are you here?" Zhou Xing Chen frowned, unsure of why she would come at this time. He didn't know why, but in his heart, he was resisting seeing her.

"I came to see you." Xia Xin'er strolled over to Zhou Xing Chen's desk and sat down on the chair opposite him. She casually said, "There are a lot of reporters outside."

Zhou Xing Chen nodded as he flipped through the documents.

Xia Qin'er sat down on a chair and spun around in a circle. She suddenly stood up and propped herself up on the table with both hands. Her delicate face looked at Zhou Xing Chen seriously. "I have a way to stop these reporters from talking."

Zhou Xing Chen looked up. "What?"

"Engagement."
