Chapter 12 - Wedding

The sun was shining. The clock in the distance chimed twelve times.

The Church of the Castle of St. Dell, with roses and lilies in every corner. Here, an unparalleled wedding was taking place in an orderly fashion.

The reporters were standing guard outside. Just the wedding scenery alone was enough for them to film for a while.

"Miss Liang, your makeup is done."

The makeup artist gave Liang Jia's face a final blush before respectfully standing with her hands by her side.

Liang Jia slowly opened her eyes. The woman in the mirror had surprised her.

Cherry lips nose, long delicate eyebrows, curling eyelashes. Her skin was slightly redder than usual, and the pearl powder had softened the lines of her face, making her look radiant.

"Miss Liang, you are very beautiful." The makeup artist exclaimed in admiration as she looked into the eyes that seemed to be filled with smoke.

Liang Jia stood up and faintly nodded her head. There was no sadness or joy in her tone. "Thank you."

Due to Liang Jia's special identity, she was adopted from an orphanage and had no biological parents. Thus, the responsibility of the bride's father at the wedding was temporarily replaced by Zhou Qizhu.

Zhou Qizhu's eyes never left Liang Jia's body. Through her mold, it was as if he could see another person that no longer existed.

"Dad, it's time to go." Seeing him in a daze, Liang Jia softly reminded him.

"Oh, okay." Only then did Zhou Qizhu come back to his senses. He frowned and solemnly looked at Liang Jia, "Little Jia, tell your father, do you really wish to marry Xing Chen?"

He kept feeling that there was no joy in getting married in this child.

His original intention in adopting her was to make her grow up healthy and happy. Now, if she didn't want to, she didn't care about this wedding at all.

Liang Jia lifted her eyelashes and met Zhou Qifu's gaze. A grateful look flashed through her eyes.

She knew that her father truly treated her well. Hearing such a question, it was not as if her heart had not been moved at all. However, when he thought of his mother, the thought of going back on his word was thoroughly dispelled.

The bridal veil slowly fell to the ground as Liang Jia smiled. Then, she heard her own voice, "Father, I am truly willing to marry Xing Chen."

The space inside the church was extremely large, and because of this, the wedding march was even more grand.

Liang Jia stepped on the red carpet, holding onto her father's arm while holding onto the flower in her hand, and walked forward resolutely step by step. Behind him was a flower boy holding a skirt.

As soon as he stepped into the church, the sound of friendly applause filled the space.

The guests on both sides of the table stood up one after another, nodding to the bride in greeting. The jeering crowd scattered the ribbons and petals in the air, and a fragrant rose fell to the ground.

Under the light muslin, Liang Jia's expression remained indifferent the entire time, without the slightest bit of change.

Through the wedding dress, he could see that at the very end of the crowd, Zhou Xing Chen was dressed in his formal attire. He stood tall and straight on the altar, his head turned to the side, his eyes fixated on her arrival.

As she expected, Zhou Xing Chen's expression was as calm as usual.

Liang Jia recalled the question she asked him a few days ago. Did she choose to marry now because people with families seemed to be more responsible, which would be beneficial to the stability of the company's shares? Zhou Xing Chen pinched her chin as he studied her for a long time. Just as she thought he would lose his temper, he sneered and said yes.

But in that case, why was it her?

Liang Jia thought nonchalantly as she handed her hands over to Zhou Xing Chen.

Separated by a layer of gauze gloves, her slightly cold fingertip could feel his warm palm. She couldn't help but slightly shrink back, in exchange for him tightly wrapping her within his palm.

Liang Jia raised her eyes to look at him and discovered that he was also staring at her with shining eyes. The hand holding the flower couldn't help but tighten.

Such a serious expression made it seem as if he wasn't the one who had spoken out about the benefits a few days ago.

The guests below were still noisy. The priest stretched out a hand and pressed on the void, "Quiet, the wedding is about to begin."

His words were effective. The entire space gradually turned silent.

A solemn and holy atmosphere surrounded them, and the priest cleared his throat, held the Bible, and read the opening words in a clear voice.

Although the process of the wedding wasn't unfamiliar to him, he still couldn't help but feel nervous when he stood on the divine altar. Liang Jia's hands were clenched into fists in Zhou Xing Chen's palms, sweating profusely.

Finally, the priest turned to Zhou Xing Chen, saying seriously, "Mr. Zhou Xing Chen, are you willing to accept Miss Liang Jia as your wife? Can you love her all your life, respect her family, avoid relationships with others, and live alone with her? "

Zhou Xing Chen didn't seem to hesitate. His cold voice echoed through the vast space, "I'm willing."

If it hadn't been for this serious occasion, Liang Jia thought, she would have definitely laughed.

Not having feelings for others? Most likely, Zhou Xing Chen would be the first one to fail.

Liang Jia lowered her gaze, a trace of struggle flashing across her eyes.

"I am willing!" As soon as she said this, she became Zhou Xing Chen's wife.

Take care of him, obey him. In this lifetime, there was no other possibility.

However, now that she had reached this step, she no longer had any path of retreat.

Liang Jia closed her eyes, eliminating all distracting thoughts. When she raised her eyes again, her face was full of joy. "I …"

Before he could finish his sentence, the door of the church suddenly opened, followed by a tearful voice. "Xing Chen, I don't want you to get married!"

Liang Jia's eyelids twitched as she reflexively turned to look at Zhou Xing Chen. The warmth in her hand suddenly disappeared. The man who had just promised not to have any relationships with others had already walked towards the door with quick steps.
