Chapter 173 Partnership & Contract

"Brother, let's settle our accounts clearly," Liu Yong said firmly.

He wanted to avoid being taken advantage of by selling his high-end rough diamonds at a low price. He believed that friendship belonged to friendship, but business was business.

If the price offered were not suitable, he would not sell it.

The market was clearly in favour of the seller, and Liu Yong was the only one with such a vast collection of high-end rough diamonds.

Qian Feihai, Bao Zhengde, and Zhou Hongliang understood the value of Liu Yong's collection and selected their preferred diamonds with great purpose.

They chose primarily small rough diamonds, with most being more than a dozen carats and many exceeding 20 carats.

However, Qian Feihai had his eyes on one particular rough diamond of several hundred carats, which he planned to use as the centrepiece of his store.

In total, they selected around five to six hundred pieces, and Qian Feihai paid a fair market price for each of them, acknowledging Liu Yong's expertise in the field.

The electronic scale was brought to the room, and every rough diamond was carefully weighed. The total of carats amassed to more than 12,000, and the average weight of each diamond was over 20 carats.

Most rough diamonds were transparent, while only 20 to 30 were selected for their stunning colours.

However, Qian Feihai was interested in acquiring more coloured diamonds, despite their high price. He knew that a coloured diamond could be several times, even ten times larger than an ordinary rough diamond, for the same weight.

Qian Feihai confidently told Mr Liu, "The total carats of these diamonds exceeds 12,000, with an average weight of 26.7 carats for each diamond. Additionally, the average weight of the 25 coloured diamonds is 17.5 carats. The total market price of all these diamonds is about 7.2 billion yuan."

Upon hearing this staggering amount, Qiu Yang and Hu Shijun were left in awe. While they knew diamonds were valuable, they couldn't fathom that these rough diamonds were worth this much.

To put things into perspective, the diamonds that Qian Feihai and his team had carefully selected were worth less than one-tenth or one-twentieth of the total market value of 7.2 billion yuan.

This amount of money could purchase numerous big ships, and Universal could become the largest shipping company in China.

However, Liu Yong shook his head lightly, stating, "Mr. Qian, your price is a little low. The market value of these diamonds is actually 8 billion yuan, and this price cannot be lowered."

Qian Feihai was hesitant, knowing that the actual market price was closer to 7.5 billion yuan and that 8 billion yuan was somewhat inflated. Nevertheless, he understood that he might not get another chance like this. Purchasing these high-end rough diamonds could lead to a significant profit of over 20 billion yuan after processing and selling them.

Moreover, with these high-end diamonds in his possession, Qian Feihai's company would gain substantial recognition in the high-end diamond consumer market. Hence, despite his hesitation, he knew this was a rare opportunity he couldn't afford to miss.

Liu Yong's face smiled slightly before he made his grand proposition.

"Mr Qian, I am willing to sell you the hundreds of rough diamonds you picked out for 8 billion yuan. Furthermore, I will entrust you with the remaining diamonds for auction and operation. They can be sold one by one, and I will give you a small commission."

Qian Feihai was ecstatic at the proposal. The rough diamonds remaining were sizable, with some ranging from tens of carats to well over a hundred carats. The largest ones were even hundreds of carats in size. The amount they could fetch was staggering, and Qian Feihai dared not imagine its worth.

Yet, he had a concern. With so many rough diamonds being auctioned off one after another, would it not lead to a price drop in the international diamond market?

Liu Yong dismissed his fears, explaining that the world mines ample diamonds yearly, and the global market is vast enough to absorb the supply. Even high-end diamonds of several hundred thousand carats would not cause a significant dip in diamond prices.

It would take a year and a half to auction off all the rough diamonds, but despite the long wait, Qian Feihai agreed immediately.

Liu Yong and Qian Feihai shook hands tightly, pleased with their forged partnership. After they discussed the specifics and signed the formal contract, Qian Feihai departed with the rough diamonds he had picked out. His factory would process these diamonds into brilliant ones.

On the other hand, Liu Yong decided to store the remaining rough diamonds in a safer place. For the past two days, he had been contemplating how there were so many rough diamonds in the giant squid's lair.

He wondered if there was an exposed diamond vein on the seabed near the cave or a nearby shipwreck that had caused these diamonds to accumulate.

To satisfy his curiosity, Liu Yong reached out to the Overlord, who was still in the cave where the giant squid's corpse had been mostly eaten.

The Overlord received Liu Yong's message and offered his services, saying,

"Master, do you want me to sink one or two boats again? I'm the best at this sort of thing. Leave it to me."

Liu Yong chuckled and reprimanded the Overlord, "Haha , No. I am here to tell you that to Look around and see if there is a sunken ship or an exposed diamond vein."

Liu Yong was convinced that regardless of whether they found a diamond vein or a shipwreck, it would be a boon for them.

He believed they could see even more diamonds than the giant squid had uncovered from diamond mines.

Perhaps they would discover something valuable if they found a sunken ship. Liu Yong knew the giant squid had already seen many diamonds on the vessel. Was there anything else of worth that the giant squid had missed?

Regardless, Liu Yong instructed the Overlord to search the area again. If they were fortunate, they might uncover some surprises.

The Overlord promised to do his best and to inform Liu Yong of any news he found.

Liu Yong nodded, "Okay, I'll wait for your good news."

Bawang emerged from the cave and began scouring the area within a 50-kilometre radius, intending to spend a few days searching.

As he was searching, there was a knock on the door of Liu Yong's office.

Qiu Yang entered the room cheerfully and informed his Boss,

"Boss, the final payment from Qian Shengsheng's company has been deposited into our company's account. This means that 8 billion yuan has been credited to our account."

Upon hearing this news, Liu Yong felt relieved and inexplicably happy. Earning 8 billion yuan was a breeze for him, and he already had several more billions stashed away in the bank safe.

With the rough diamonds selling one after another, he would continuously have 8 billion yuan flowing into his account.

Qiu Yang was happy and said, "Boss, our company's funds are incredibly abundant, and I feel so wealthy and powerful right now."

It was no surprise that Qiu Yang felt this way since Risheng had recently paid 1 billion yuan and three large ships in compensation, and now another 8 billion yuan had been credited.

However, amidst the excitement, Qiu Yang asked for Liu Yong's consent,

"Boss, there is one thing that requires your approval."

Liu Yong replied, "Sure, tell me, what is it?"
