Master Gray house was built behind Bernice’s tailor.

A paved pathway connected the two places.

Planted around it were bushes, grasses, and rare trees from which a rich type of oil that enhances a man’s sexual ability could be extracted.

Plenty of guards were patrolling this area.

Most of them were just the common citizens with a build sturdier than average, but some were in the body tempering stage, capable of smashing stones with their fists.

Yet, none had senses sharp enough to notice a shadowy figure climbing up the fenced wall that surrounded the paved path and sneaking to a thick tree.

Swift Death hid her figure behind the canopy of the tree, thinking: “In this place, I need not worry about them catching sight of me. Let’s have a good view of my surroundings.”

With the leaves and shadows hiding her figure, she took in her surrounding.

A garden was reflected in her eyes.

At its edges, one-story houses could be found, and in the center of the garden was a two-story building, the entrance of which was guarded by two people dressed in black armor.

This suited the aesthetic of humans.

But it also attracted thieves like bugs.

Master Gray really knew how to show off, and that’s why he had suffered a loss at the hands of shameless thieves in the past.

Swift Death licked her lips.

She knew about this place as she had come here to loot a thing or two in the past.

Yup, she was one of the thieves that had humbled Master Gray!

But because Master Gray had his wealth stolen too many times, he tightened the security around his manor.

Thus, here, guards were just everywhere.

A total of four guards were blocking her way forward.

Staying still, she waited patiently.

Three turned around the corner a couple of minutes later, leaving only one guard to pace back and forth on this paved path.

The moment his back turned to her, Swift Death jumped out of her hiding spot, landing a few steps behind him without making a noise.

“Whoosh!”

But the wind generated by her big movements brushed against the back of the guard.

And… he felt as if someone was behind him.

His immediate response was to turn around to see who it was.

But by the time he did, Swift Death had teleported to the roof of the building far away.

Behind him, the guard saw nothing but thin air.

“Recently, because some brat angered Master Gray, he’s holding everyone accountable for the slightest mistake to let out his frustration. That has kept me on edge too. That must be why I am feeling things.’

Embarrassed, he rubbed the back of his head and cursed Master Gray under his breath.

“If not for the fact the love of my life is his slave, I would have stopped serving a shit head like him a long time ago.”

The guard’s fate was terrible, but for the love of his life, he had willingly made his life even harder.

Swift Death’s attention was already not on him.

She was staring at the person who was being escorted by Master Gray himself.

As she found him eerily familiar, her pretty crimson eyes narrowed suspiciously. ‘Why is Yama’s contractor meeting with this old man?’

Swift Death’s eyes twinkled as she felt like she was on to their deepest, darkest secret.

Accompanied by Master Gray, the Yama’s contractor entered the two-story building.

Climbing up the stairs, they reached the second floor and sat down on chairs placed around a round table meant for two.

Unaware they were of the existence of an assassin that was laying flat on the roof just above their heads.

To eavesdrop on them, she put her ear to the tiles and closed her eyes.

She heard the Yama’s contractor saying, “You’re hiring us to take out who?!”

Then, she heard Master Gray screaming like a banshee, “I want that brat dead! I’ve never felt so humiliated in my life! That day has become my inner demon! A mere brat dared to play me and slap my face! I can’t swallow it. Keeping it in is killing me slowly. Unless he dies, I would never feel at ease. Just get two silver-ranked assassins to do the deed. I’ll pay 5000 gold bars for each. That’s equivalent to 50000 gold coins.”

Master Gray picked up the box next to his leg and placed it in the box, opening it up.

It was filled to the brim with gold.

Looking at it, the contracted felt his heart moving.

Yama’s contractor maintained his eye contact with the person opposite him and smiled at him. “I like you a lot. So, I do want to help you get rid of your inner demons. But since your request is killing him, I can only give you an outright refusal.”

Master Gray was his piggy bank. Of course, he loved him. But in the end, he refused to shake hands with him.

Hearing his words, Master Gray’s eyes widened, and he leaned back, slumping down in his chair. He rubbed the back of his neck, his breathing unstable. “… B-but why?”

To get rid of one trainee, he was willing to pay a considerable sum. Only a fool would decline it. Was the Yama’s contractor a fool?

“Someone has already hired two of our silver-ranked assassins to get rid of him. The rule of our organization state that we can’t accept two requests of assassination on a single person at a time. That’s why I can only refuse your request.” After speaking, Yama’s contractor crossed his legs. He took out a cigar and placed it in his mouth. Bringing his finger below it, he activated his magic. A candle flame manifested at the tip of his finger, lighting it up. He took a deep breath, inhaling smoke.

“No wonder I was refused. Who is it? Who wants the count’s third son dead?” While saying this, Master Gray looked greatly interested in knowing who wanted Roy dead.
