Chapter 40.1 - Bed Photos~

Channing ordered someone to draw the curtains of the window of the room. Originally, the room was relatively dark but through the window, there was a faint light. Now the light emitted from the window was blocked, and the visual effect was quite mysterious. Yisheng saw the flame on the candle in front of her, dancing in the palm of Song Anchen’s hand. She had a really bad feeling. What were they doing with candles suddenly? Could it be that Song Anchen had some sexual thought suddenly? She stepped back a little and said awkwardly, “Candles are not fun.”

Song Anchen just smiled and continued to walk towaards her with the candle. Yisheng could only ask Channing for help, but Channing seemed to be very focused and looked forward to it with great expectation in his eyes. He stood like a statue, motionless as if he had a great interest in the candle.

Gosh, what exactly was Song Anchen doing?

“Yisheng, do you remember what you said at your mother’s funeral?” Song Anchen walked to Yisheng and raised his hand to adjust the hairs by her ear, his expression extremely gentle.

How could Yisheng forget the words she said that day? At the memorial service, she sat alone under the stage, her eyelids were so swollen that she could not open her eyes. She kept her head down and stood next to Song Anchen.

She said, “I have nothing left. The me right now is a lighted-up candle, I’m about to run out of tears and I feel like dying. I don’t know how much longer I can last,” She covered her face and wanted to cry, but realized that she had no more tears left to cry. She had nothing left, she did not have her dad, she did not have her mom, all that she had left was herself.

Song Anchen, who was by her side, did not care about the other people present and hugged Yisheng, “I’ll take care of you for my whole life, you have me.”

When Yisheng recalled that, she suddenly had some epiphany. When she lifted her eyes, tears were already swirling in her eyes. If she blinked, she might cry. Her eyelashes trembled and she stared at the burning candle in Song Anchen’s hand, that reminded her of herself.

“Yisheng, there’s a saying that describes a lit-up candle—Its lifespan (light) does not last long,” He raised the lighted up candle in his hand, “Are you still lit up and burning?”

(T/N: Life and light have similar pronunciations in Chinese)

Yisheng did not know how to respond. She had never expected that Song Anchen would bring this up and that he needed her to make a statement. She had always thought that Song Anchen was extremely confident, that he was superior, arrogant, and had absolute self-confidence. And he was like the dust at his feet that had to keep looking at the confident him. She was not confident, but it was understandable because she was not outstanding. She was an ordinary woman that one could find anywhere on the street. But Song Anchen was different. He was outstanding, he was handsome, he cared about his family, it was hard to find such a man anymore… But why did Song Anchen seem so insecure now? He was afraid that she did not feel moved by him and was still burning in her own way? She could not help laughing bitterly. In her eyes, he was heaven and unattainable. But in Song Anchen’s eyes, she was like a cloud. He could not catch her and was uncertain.

Yisheng had a sudden urge to cry. If they had expressed themselves earlier, perhaps they would not have missed so many years of each others’ lives… Thankfully, everything was not over yet. Yisheng took a step towards Song Anchen. That step was the most stable step of her life. She was very close to him, and the burning flame was right below her jaw.

Yisheng said, “Hubby, don’t you know that you’ve extinguished the self-burning fire in my heart a long time ago?” She took Song Anchen’s elbow and put the candle near Song Anchen’s mouth, gently staring at him and smiling.

Song Anchen felt shocked and with the same gentle eyes, he gently pursed his lips and blew out a hot breath. The red flame on the candle swayed uneasily and struggled for a while before going out.

Yisheng chuckled, she had never expected Song Anchen to have such a lack of confidence.

“Wife~”

“Ah?” As soon as Yisheng answered, Song Anchen immediately hugged her tightly, holding her close to himself and brazenly turning to Channing and saying, “Please take a photo.”

“Ah?” Channing had yet to react when he saw the new couple in front of him start to make out. -_-|||

Channing was someone who had seen many things and was used to this kind of thing. But this time, his face turned red for some reason. Perhaps it was because of the candle being held in Song Anchen’s hand, or perhaps it was because the bride’s wedding dress was special.

Channing could not help but think that this was the prelude of S&M…

“Click,” When Channing finished taking this photo, he wondered if this photo was too artistic to use as a representative work?

Yisheng finally could breathe and she looked at Song Anchen with an extremely sweet smile then rolled her eyes at him, “You don’t pay enough attention to your image.”

He smiled but did not answer. He simply took her hand and said, “We can continue this when we go back home. Let’s get down to business first.”

Yisheng was led downstairs by Song Anchen. Yisheng found it strange, were they not going to take photos in this room anymore? After Yisheng went downstairs, she was stuffed into a car and Song Anchen talked to his mother for a while before saying goodbye and getting in the car. Only then did he explain to Yisheng, “We chose three outdoor locations. The park, the ancient ruins, and our home.”

Yisheng was shocked. They were taking wedding photos in their home?
