9-33. Reizen’s Companion

Reizen kept running, thinking to himself that the sound had come from that direction.

He knew Karnas’ skills well and was certain that she didn’t possess any skills that could create such a loud noise.

Therefore, he deduced that the sound had to be either from Theik or Derd’s skills.

“Let’s just ignore Derd… he’s part of the problem.”

As a faithful slave to the priest, Derd was not someone Reizen would rescue.

He wished Derd had fallen in battle during that fight and focused his search on finding Theik.

Karna had also been blown away somewhere, so Reizen decided to look for her at the same time.

However, she wasn’t around this area.

Since the destructive sound had ceased, the battle must have ended.

While agonizing over the fact that he was responsible for causing such a situation, Reizen searched tirelessly for Theik and Karna.

“Theik!! Karna!! Where are you guys?!”

It seemed that they weren’t around this area.

He should have at least had Ouren’s weird haze to locate their approximate locations.

Since Reizen did not possess any scouting skills, this was the usual way for him to search, which he had apparently forgotten.

If he could come up with ideas like this more easily, he could contribute more to everyone.

However, it might be difficult for his current self to do so.

After a small chuckle, Reizen stopped and searched the area thoroughly.

This area was full of houses and mansions.

But now, all of them had been destroyed and turned into a flat plain area.

The rubble had been blown away, and only small stones and parts of roofs that had barely survived remained.

His companion who could produce such firepower, apart from Ouren, was Theik.

However, since Ouren had been facing off against him, he understood that it was the work of someone else.

“…… Hm?”

In the distance, three human figures could be seen.

As he squinted his eyes, he realized that it was Lize and two other members of the Thunder Bow party.

“Yurie! Roze! Lize!”

“Huh?! Aren’t you Reizen?! Are you still our enemy now!?”

“No, no! Ouren-aniki tried out his skill and it ended up revoking my slave mark!”

“Bullcrap! Don’t lie to us! Come here and explain yourself while I beat you up!”

“I’m not lying!”

Reizen removed his glove and showed them the slave mark on the back of his hand. If he were still under its control, he would have attacked them without being prompted.

Roze, who had determined that Reizen’s actions and behavior were safe, held Yurie back.

“Don’t worry, Yurie. It looks like Reizen-san is acting of his own will.”

“Really? And that’s Ouren’s skill… If he could revoke or remove the seal, he should have done it sooner!”

“He’s beyond normal… ”

“Ah-, uhm, Reizen, long time no see? Or is it nice to meet you?”

“Hmm, I think we’ve met before. Since that place is like a dreamscape, you know?”

This was the first time Lize had actually met with him in person. The last time they met was in that strange space where they met the Voice of the Heavens. They were only acquaintances, and she didn’t know much about Reizen.

“Anyway, more importantly, do you know where that short person with the robe went?”

“I, I defeated him… But, ow! My shoulder…”

“Where?!”

“Over there…”

Lize pointed in the direction where Theik had fallen. They hadn’t confirmed whether Theik was dead or alive yet.

Reizen quickly ran towards where Theik were, despite hearing someone calling out to him from behind. If Theik was defeated, it’s only a matter of time.

There was still a glimmer of hope since they hadn’t confirmed it. Lize was unable to move due to the recoil, so Yurie and Roze were waiting with her.

“Theik!! Theik!!”

He shouted repeatedly, but there was no answer.

Feeling anxious, Reizen ran desperately searching for Theik.

“Theik!!”

“Shut up…I can hear you…”

“Huh!? Where is …Ah…!”

Desperately looking for Theik, he couldn’t notice that Teeku was laying down near his feet.

Surprised to find him, Reizen confirmed that his left arm was missing.

“Theik…your arm…!”

“Oh, so it’s really gone? Well, that was expected.”

“I’ll treat you! 【 High Heal】 !”

“Wow, Reizen, that’s some niche skill you use there.”

“It’ll take some time though…”

High Heal is slow to heal deep wounds, but it’s better than doing nothing. While it cannot regenerate lost limbs, it should at least allow the patient to move after treatment.

“…Did Reizen win?”

“I lost so many times. I can’t beat my aniki.”

“Huh? Did you run away? To save me?”

“I didn’t run away. Aniki removed my slave mark.”

“What?! Is that even possible?”

“Seems like it.”

“Reizen’s aniki (brother) is so amazing…”

If only he had met someone like that sooner. He felt foolish for going through so many complicated plans. But he felt a glimmer of hope.

“Reizen…”

“I know. I know you can’t say it. I’ll take care of it. I’ll beat that priest.”

“…..”

Reizen understood everything he wanted to say, despite their short time together. He was amazed that Reizen would help him so much.

If that was the case, he had to send him off right away.

“Even if I recover, I’ll have to fight again. My automatic skill for blocking pain is active, so don’t worry about me. Go do what you have to do.” (Theik)

“…I understand. Don’t die. You need to save your little brother who loves tinkering with magic tools.” (Reizen)

“What do you mean?” (Theik)

“For Karna.” (Reizen)

“Oh…she’s such a kind person…Now go! I’m counting on you!”

“Yes, sir!”

Reizen stood up and ran by kicking the ground. After watching his back, he removed the broken magic tool from his waist.

“What is he doing now?”

He might see his younger brother again. What he had given up on might become a reality thanks to Reizen. With high expectations, he carried the magic tool his brother made, which was his greatest masterpiece in terms of magical power.
