Chapter 398: Seeds of Hallucinations

Swish!

Faint Origin Essence waves sparked around him as Compass Carburettor was meditating, preparing his tools for war.

First was his offensive means. He couldn’t just rely upon Snag to injure others. That wouldn’t even show the true extent of his power. And, as his attacks involved the mind, illusions and hallucinations would become his mode of execution.

If there was one difference between the two, it would be the difference in immersion in comparison to the target’s conscious wish. In an illusion, the target would be trying to break out of the illusion, no matter the content. It was externally actuated.

But a hallucination was different as it was internally actuated. After all, a hallucination would be conjured by the target himself based on the parameters Compass Carburettor had set in advance.

This way, the target themselves would be their aggressor, leading to their own doom.

Origin Art—Mental Creation!

Compass Carburettor was creating various seeds, each of which consisted of a dedicated set of memories, experiences, and emotions. And when planted in a target, they would exist in their mind, sprouting once Compass Carburettor activated the trigger.

The seed would grow, pulling in the memories of the target to grow into a tree, becoming more and more solid as time passes. It couldn’t be defended against after that as the victim would drown in their own fears into oblivion.

But, this ability wasn’t as strong as it seemed. After all, if the mind of the target was strong enough, they would resist or at times even destroy the seed. Therefore, Compass Carburettor had to be careful with his attacks.

Otherwise, there might even be a chance that he would be helping his opponent by acting rashly. As for his enemies, it could be considered that each of them had lived for a millennium. So, they were monsters with massive minds and tremendous willpower.

So, to target them, the power of his seeds should be strong enough. ‘The current seeds can at most affect them for a second or two.’

He sighed, for this was the current limit. Only after reaching the Martial Origin Stage would he be able to truly exercise the power of the Mind Frog.

But, this was where his most impressive Origin Art came into effect, one that allowed him to obtain a strong enough foundation to go against System Hosts.

Origin Art—Mind Transfer!

This Origin Art allowed him to steal memories from his target or implant his memories into them. As to the quantity, he could control them perfectly. Moreover, this wasn’t just possible between him and his opponent but between two targets too.

And that led to interesting results.

Firstly, he could steal memories from the common populace, regarding fields they were proficient about. This way, he would gain references in such fields, able to quickly grow in the respective fields.

Using this, his mental growth was faster, allowing him to accumulate more experience in a variety of fields. Even though it was like watching hundreds of documentaries instead of living through the scenes themselves, it still allowed him to know about the various things that were possible.

And that itself broadened his knowledge.

Moreover, Mind Transfer wasn’t limited to memories alone. They also involved thoughts, thought processes, feelings, emotions, etc.

This allowed him to experience a variety of things and gain abundant growth. And the patients that he had met originated from all sorts of professions, having their respective advantages that he absorbed.

A farmer had a certain thought process regarding growing crops, knowledge related to crops, the senses he had honed by growing crops all his life, able to understand what environmental conditions would affect the crops to what degree, etc.

Feelings, senses, thought processes, and the associated memories, all could be stolen using Mind Transfer. And once stolen, after a bit of practice on the fields, Compass Carburettor would be able to easily make that experience his own.

Though, there was a limit to this as he couldn’t do it wantonly, for that would destroy his own experiences. There would be a mental clash that would destroy his mind, turning him stupid in the end.

So, the extent that he stole using Mind Transfer was only a limited sum within what he determined to be safe limits. But even that gave him considerable growth. ‘Moreover, I would be able to grow faster after reaching the Martial Origin Stage.’

At present, he was digesting his gains, something he did at the end of the day daily. It was to put the obtained knowledge into practice to ensure he wouldn’t forget it later. And with enough practice, it would become muscle memory.

Once he was done with that, Compass Carburettor took out a sword and began to swing it around. He didn’t have any Origin Arts suitable to be wielded through a sword, but the reason he was practicing swordsmanship was to be prepared in cases where he ran out of Origin Essence.

Besides, the sword was an energy blade sword that barely had any weight, allowing him to swing it easily.

But, instead of looking yellowish-white like all energy blades, this resembled a pearl in texture and colour. It wasn’t condensed using Apocalypse Pearl though. As he had auctioned a palm-sized energy blade, using the energy blade would draw attention to him.

And hence, he coated it with a thin layer of the Apocalypse Pearl. This way, it wouldn’t look all that special but would still possess the properties of the energy blade.

After all, in terms of structural strength, the Darlac energy blade was the strongest. It also didn’t have any weight.

At present, the energy blade sword in his hands weighed around fifty grams due to the coating of Apocalypse Pearl. This weight gave him a better grip in using it, not to mention the fact that fifty grams were pretty much nothing.

It was only the weight of a hairclip.

So, he could use it without any strain. “But, it’s not useful for heavy-hitting. So, I shouldn’t rely on it when the enemy’s defence is high.”

And with that, he completed his training, gazing at the figure of Grisha that appeared before him, “Is it time already?”

“Yep,” Grisha nodded, “The Folkan Secret Realm would open in two days.”
