Chapter 279: Wish Granted

During that time when she didn’t know the truth that Igor had returned to life like she did and while being married to him, Rihannan resolved to herself never to let him into her heart. However, that resolve had crumbled way too easily.

Her heart once again started to ache for him, as opposed to how it was in the past, and she found herself still focusing her eyes and ears towards him yet again. Therefore she tried her best to rationalize to herself that Igor was a completely different person than he was in the past. She didn’t want to admit that she actually still loved him this whole time.

“Even during that time where I thought you had betrayed me and I despised you completely, I still loved you continuously.”

In the past, she reassured herself that she was living a life that didn’t deserve any love from anyone in the world. That was the reason why she was able to give up on her life that easily. However, she realized that during that whole time, there was a man who had loved her more than anyone else in the whole world.

Igor embraced her hips right onto his body with not a gap in between. His sweet kisses and heartfelt confessions continued, endlessly being repeated on her lips and ears.

“As all my wish has been granted, from now on, you can no longer leave my side.”

The one that can genuinely grant wishes wasn’t god, nor unknown existence that came from legends. The only thing that can move a person is another person, as he realized again that only truthful, heartfelt words from the bottom of the heart can change another person’s mind.

As the sun completely went down, the two of them sat on one side of the quayside and watched as all of the red tinges of sunset view disappear over the horizon. Igor took off his outer garment and put it on Rihannan. He still thought she may be cold, so he pulled her shoulder up close to him and Rihannan laid her head on his chest. Murmurs of conversations flowed out between them.

“But how did you know that I was going to chase you all the way here?”

“You said that you were going to chase after even 6 years ago. I thought that you would definitely do that for this time as well. I’ve completely figured you out now after all.”

Igor laughed heartily.

“But what were you going to do if I didn’t actually come? Were you thinking of taking another boat and going to Chrichton properly?”

“No. Since there are many carriages in the wharf, I was planning to take one of the carriages, go to my residence and spend a night there before just charging straight into the city. You should be thankful. If I were to meet you in the palace first instead of seeing you here, I wouldn’t have been so easy on you as I have this time.”

He laughed once more, then laid his lips on her temple.

“Madam Sessly probably would have kicked me out of the palace before then. She threatened me that she would have kicked my b*tt if I was her son after all.”

Igor stroked Rihannan’s face as he laid his cheek on her hair. As the moonlight started to lay down thick around them, they heard melodic voices of ship crewmates singing. The song that mixed along with the sounds of waves crashing no longer gave him grief or sadness like it did before.

Rumble.

It was at that moment he heard an unfamiliar noise. Igor knew that the sound was definitely not from him.
