Chapter 275: My Blood

“Thank you to all of you for escorting me all the way here. You may all go back now.”

In that moment, the commander pulled out an envelope from his pocket. He then courteously handed it over to Rihannan.

“Please take this.”

“What is this?”

“They told me to give you this letter once you get on the boat, your majesty.”

Even without asking who it was, she could tell who it was from. Rihannan smiled bitterly as she received the letter.

“Thank you.”

With that final farewell, Rihannan got on the boat. All the soldiers stood on the wharf and gave their final royal salute to the queen.

“Departing!”

Vwooom!

With the captain’s shout, a loud booming noise of the boat’s horn rang out. Rihannan didn’t go inside of the ship immediately, but rather stood on the side of the boat to look out at the wharf. As the boat started to set out parting the violent waves of the sea, Rihannan finally pulled out a the letter she received from the commander. Inside the envelope was other objects together with a paper. After breathing in deeply several times, Rihannan opened up the letter inside of the envelope.

Rihannan. The first word written on the paper was her name.

Rihannan.

Did you know that I never actually called you ‘Ria’ even once?

Rihannan ran through her memories. Thinking about it, he had never actually called her name before she returned to Arundel, and once she did he would always call her ‘Rihannan’. Even though it was likely that he could have called her even just once as a friendly call. She thought he simply didn’t care about calling her by that name, but perhaps she was wrong.

Honestly, after you’ve told me about the meaning behidn your name, I’ve always wanted to keep calling you by your full name. You probably don’t realize just how much happiness I feel every time I call out your full name, ‘Rihannan’.

Realizing what he had meant by that, Rihannan’s lips trembled. But the funny thing was, it was definitely sure that the person who had actually written this letter doesn’t know anything about what he himself just had said.

As there is still truth that I haven’t told you yet, I have written this letter instead. This is about everything that had happened after you had died in the past.

In the content of the letter, he calmly outlined everything that had happened after she had died. About how violently he had killed her father and Leticia just like how the queen mother did. And also about the war that occured between Arundel and Chrichton as well.

The whole time she was reading the letter, she could barely breathe. The letter showed just how violent the three years had been after she had died. Even though the war between Arundel and Chrichton was horrible and cruel, the tyrannical ruling he had over the land was equally cruel as well.

Unbelievably, he used the emotion of terror that everyone felt from him to rule over them all, as well as showed merciless cruelty. Anyone who went against them were crushed by his military power, or had their life taken away easily. Even the noble families that had strong political power couldn’t do anything but become crushed under his power. The war with Chrichton was also possible because his tyrannical ruling. It was the crown prince of Chrichton who attacked, this time aiming purely to kill himself, the tyrannical king.

And so after the cruel war was over, the king of Arundel ended up having much more power than the Chrichton royal family. It was to the point where no one could even dare breathe outside of line in front of the young king of Arundel.

I probably looked no different than how the crown prince of Chrichton looks now back then. The face of a man who you would have hated and despised more than anyone else in the world.

Rihannan pulled her trembling hand to her lips. Igor did say such thing once in the past. That when a person receives a shock that no amount of psychological therapy could help, they would end up making extreme decisions. One may end up killing themselves, but others direct their anger the other way and end up committing horrific genocide.

She finally realized that it was Igor talking about himself. After she had died, he became completely broken apart.

The blood of my queen mother who had murdered numerous family members in cold blood may be flowing inside my vein as well. I came to this realization as I was writing this letter, that the decision you had made back then perhaps was the correct decision to take. It would have been better for you to live in a safe environment together with safe people rather than with me. That would be better for the child as well.
