Chapter 239: What Goes Around…

“Hah…”

She couldn’t help but laugh at her misfortune. Though 6 years ago, her mind was filled with nothing but wishing to die, so she actually welcomed the poison that Leticia handed to her. Therefore she was able to drink it down without a single hesitation.

As opposed to that, right now she would have way too many regrets to leave this world. She knew that it would be painful for Dimi as he would blame everything on himself, and the fact that the baby will once again die without being able to see this world was also regretful to her. Madam Cessley would also be truly shocked and horrified at the news. Basil would cry his eyes out just like last time as well.

And…

Putting the thought of him in her head, Rihannan shook her head side to side. There was no other way anyways. Right now, she had no other option but to take this poison. Just like Danil said, it would be much less painful to die by taking poison rather than dying by burning in fire.

Rihannan opened the bottle lid. Staring at it, the thought of the pledge she had made in the last moments of her previous life came across her mind. That if, just if, there was such a thing as a life after this, that it would be different than the life she had then. That she would never fall in love with him, and that she would never forgive those that brought harm to her.

In the end, she ended up not being able to achieve any of that. She had foolishly fallen in love with him again, and couldn’t even bring herself to hate Leticia herself. A chance is something that only people who can make proper use of it would use.

Realizing that truth deep into her bones, Rihannan bought the bottle to her lips.

“It is time, my Duke.”

Hearing those words, Danil gripped hard on the hand that was holding the bow. At this point the queen would have drank the poison and completely died. He knew that anyone who reached the point of having their ultimatum, they would always choose the less painful way.

“Light the arrowhead on fire.”

As soon as his order finished, the rag that was wrapped around the head of the arrow soaked in oil was lit up in fire. Fwoosh! The fire brightly lit up. The hut which was made with wood also had an adequate amount of oil spread around near the area. Danil aimed the lit arrow towards the hut. The moment the lit arrow lands on the house, the hut would immediately become ablaze.

Danil wished for her to not take the foolish option of not taking the poison and trying to find a way out. He was honest in saying that he wished for her not to be in pain.

He lowered his chin. Just as his nervousness that was filled up to his fingers was about to leave along with the arrow from the bow, a knife that flew in from somewhere stabbed the back of his hand.

“Ugh!”

Danil dropped his bow string in that moment. Not long after the arrowhead fell onto the ground. At the same time loud voices rang out.

“Capture all of them!”

With a loud roar, numerous soldiers came out from around the forest. The area quickly turned to one of a battlefield. In the chaos surrounding him, Danil quickly pulled out the knife that was stuck on the back of his hand and quickly went towards the arrow that fell onto the floor. Just as his hand was about to reach the arrow that was still lit, another strong sensation of pain rang throughout his body.

“Argh!”

This time, a long blade had stabbed from above right down onto his hand onto the ground. A long shadow approached Danil who was in pain. The man who made sure he couldn’t even move at all snuffed the lit arrow by crushing it with his foot.

“Danil Lyurik.”
