“Rolando save the town and be a hero again.”

“Rolando save the town and be a hero again.”

“All right, I’m done storing it. I guess this means I can call that guy up anytime I want.”

Having easily (?) won the battle against Octopus, I used my newly acquired skill [Summoning Technique] to successfully turn the Octopus into my summoned beast.

It seemed that when you make a contract with Summoning Technique, you could store the monster that became a summoned beast in subspace, and while it was in that space, time stopped for the monster, so time would not advance until the contractor summoned it.

Since the level of my Summoning Technique was currently 1, there was a limit to the number of monsters that I could contract, but apparently up to two more could be contracted.

Even though it was possible to contract two monsters, it would be easy to turn a monster you found into a pet or even a summoned beast. But, if you turned any monster you found into a summoned beast, you would quickly fill up the quota of monsters you could contract, so you would have to choose carefully which monsters you would like to contract in the future.

“Well, now that I’ve got the Octopus out of the way, let’s go back into town and stock up on fish.”

I knew in my head that I should report to the lord first, but I seemed to develop an image that the lord’s name made me keep away from him on my own.

I was taught by nursery school teachers and teachers in kindergarten and the early grades of elementary school not to judge people by their appearance, but perhaps humans were just creatures that judge people by their appearance.

As I was walking back to the town with these thoughts in my mind, I noticed a crowd of black people at the harbor. I looked closely at the crowd and found that they were residents of the town, and I guessed that they saw me fighting with Octopus when they looked closely to see what was going on.

I didn’t really care, but I couldn’t just fly away, so I landed in the center of the crowd. When I landed on the ground, the crowd formed a circle around me.

“What’s the ruckus?”

“Well, there was a ruckus going around about an octopus running amok, and we took a closer look and saw someone fighting the octopus. We watched for a while, and then suddenly the Octopus disappeared and you, kid, flew toward here.”

“I see, just as I expected.”

It seemed that the situation was just as I had predicted, and the crowd kept growing, to the point where I thought people from all over town would converge on the harbor.

When they thought the Octopus disappeared, they rushed n here, so this was the result.

“A hero…”

“He’s a hero for saving this town!”

『Uwoaaaaaa!!』

One by one, the people of the town shout with joy when they realize that the Octopus threat was gone and that it was caused by my hand. And then, with each word of praise and thanks, they expressed their gratitude to me for being their hero.

“I never thought a kid like you could beat Octopus.”

“Actually, I didn’t beat him. I made him mine.”

“Yours? What does that mean?”

The first townspeople I spoke to caught on to my words and were about to ask more questions when a familiar face appeared. It was the lord who rules this town, Goodman…no, Badguy.

“Rolando-kun, what’s all the commotion?”

“It seems that someone saw me defeat Octopus, and now they know it, and they’re trying to start a celebration.”

“Did you really beat Octopus? Really, really?”

“What can I get for lying about it? Rather than that, do something about this commotion.”

Badguy, startled by my words, shouted as loudly as he could, “Be quiet,” silencing everyone around him. With that one word, silence enveloped the port. As I was admiring the lord’s dignity in my heart, Badguy began his speech.

“Hear me, my beloved townspeople. As you can see, the Octopus threat has passed, and now the city is once again at peace. And the man who brought that peace is none other than this Rolando-boy!”

“Huh? Wait a minute—”

『Uwoaaaaaaaa!!』

Badguy’s outrageous statement made the half-convinced townspeople realize that I had saved the town, and they cheer louder than before. …Hey, hey, Badguy-san. What in the world are you doing!?

After that, the Rolando cheers continued unceasingly, but it took a word from Badguy to get the townspeople to make a move.

“This is no time for this, townspeople! It’s time to feast! Prepare for the feast! Fishermen, sail now and fetch all the fish you can find!”

『Uwooooaaaaaaaa!!』

…Oi, oi, is that all right, lord? The Octopus threat is over, but they still haven’t recovered yet, no? And you just throw a feast like that?

I tried to give my calm and honest opinion to Badguy, but the answer I got was very straightforward and without thinking.

“If we don’t have a feast now, when will we have one? When there’s a big occasion, we celebrate it together. That’s the style of this Marine Trill. Rolando, I’m going to ask you to accompany me to the fullest today.”

“Ehh.”

With a single word from the lord, the townspeople immediately sprung into action. Fishermen went out to sea, their wives and merchants generously brought in the food and wine they had left over in case of emergency, chefs used the ingredients to prepare dishes for thousands of people, and craftsmen began to build a venue for an impromptu feast.

I was a little…surprised that it all started with a single word from the lord, and that so much could be accomplished all at once in such a short period of time.

The Japanese were a cooperative people in the eyes of the world and were more than capable of working together to accomplish something, just like the residents of this town, but not as much as the residents of this town.

While I was wondering what I should do, the feast hall was quickly set up, and the chefs laid out dishes on the improvised tables, including the seafood that the fishermen had just caught.

“…What am I supposed to do?”

“You just stay where you are. Tonight’s feast is also to thank you, the hero, who saved this town. If the guest of honor is made to work for us, as a noble and a member of this town, I will not be able to stand up to you.”

I couldn’t do anything after being told that much, so I just watched as the preparations for the feast were steadily being made. Meanwhile, the lord, Badguy, was giving precise instructions, and the townspeople seemed to be following those instructions and making preparations quickly.

Within a few hours, the feast was ready, and I was now sitting in a special seat to listen to the lord’s speech.

“So, it was Rolando-kun here who defeated Octopus and brought peace to this town. He is the hero who saved this town!”

『Uoooooo!』

I waved my hand awkwardly with a twitchy smile on my face as I responded to their cheers, which I no longer knew how many times I’d heard. …What kind of torture is this?

A further blow came to me as I was experiencing an ongoing mental load that made me wonder if my new skills would make me resistant to torture.

“Then let’s have a word from the hero of this town, and let that be our toast!”

“Huh?”

Wait, wait, wait! I didn’t hear anything about this! I know I did something amazing, but what in the world am I supposed to say in a situation like this!?

Even though my heart was not ready, Badguy continued to speak.

“Now, the hero of this town. Rolando the Adventurer!”

(I-if it comes to this, I’ll just have to do it then…)

Thus, thanks to the cleverness (?) of Badguy, I was to give a speech at the age of 12.
