Chapter 119 - The appearance of the little girl

Their eyes gaze into each others'. Looking into his deep eyes that seems to capture one's heart and soul.

She mentally scolded herself for thinking that far. She needed to let him speak and get him off her back.

Yes! that's what she should do.

With a determined heart, Clara spoke up, "you could have gotten in danger if this was a set-up you know that?" she asked, but Leo just kept staring at her.

He's not an idiot and could see that Clara has changed. She's totally changed, but to what extent?

Is it to the extent where his feelings could get across to her?

Or the extent where she will change towards him when he confesses his feelings.

Even though he isn't hugging her anymore, his hands still rested to her waist and their body still so close, yet Clara didn't give him any hateful expression.

She's talking to him, like their closeness is normal, when she wouldn't allow a handshake before.

Is it safe to confess?

Leo battled with his thoughts, not wanting to complicate things. He assured himself that this woman has some kind of 'on and off' switch in her head.

"How can you be so stupid? you didn't even bring anyone with you." Clara said to Leo who still hasn't taken his eyes off hers for a second.

Leo didn't try to say anything. Because he knew she hadn't done, yet.

This time, Clara's expression mares with anger, "you know I can't be killed by humans right? you know I'm a fucking guardian, and the only human who could kill me is you," she said, giving him a searching gaze.

"I know." Leo finally speaks.

"Then why are you here?" Clara asked, hoping to hear his confession and tell him to back off.

Leo didn't know why, but he felt like he should let her know, since she asked. "I…."

"Forget it! let's just get out of here." Clara cuts in and moves back from him.

She wasn't sure if she could handle his reply. With the way she felt so unsettled,  she didn't think she could bravely tell him to back off.

She mentally assured herself that she will do it next time.

Leo stared at her, as she walked towards his car and got into the driver seat. He's not in a hurry anyway, so he decided not to think about it.

He walked towards the car and got into the shotgun seat. "What happened there?" he asked.

Clara hadn't gotten herself together. Her mind is still everywhere, but she's glad he asked her something that will help her focus.

She started the car and began driving, "they've been tailing me for a long while now." she said.

Leo frowned, "why didn't you tell me?" he asked.

"I noticed that they aren't after you, because they only show up wherever I went." Clara said, feeling like there's no reason to tell him, since he isn't the target.

"You should have informed me. What if they had hurt you?" Leo felt slightly pissed.

Clara scoffed, "shouldn't you be worried about them? It will take a lot more than pathetic human strength to hurt me." she boasted.

"Oh…  how come you ended up here?" he asked with his brow raised.

"I wanted to know who was after me. I let them capture me on purpose. It's disappointing that they are just normal kidnappers who go after rich guy's lovers." Clara said and her heart skipped after realizing what she just said.

There was a pregnant silence after that. Leo was pissed that she baited herself, but hearing her use the word lover, like it was mentioned in the email sent to him, his head snapped towards her direction.

Feeling his gaze on her, Clara made sure her eyes were glued ahead.

"What?" she asked, since he refused to look away.

Leo smiled softly and looked away. Even though he didn't plan to just confess to her now, he's sure Clara wouldn't flare up if he does later.

She's very relaxed with him now. She's finally acting like a woman.

"Who's that?" Clara pointed at the figure of a man, who was standing at a distance on their car lane and waving his hands to make them slow down.

"I don't know." Leo said, looking at the man that was well dressed in a black suit, but couldn't see his face, as they haven't gotten closer enough.

After Leo answered that he does not know, Clara was planning to not acknowledge the man and just drive past him.

As they got closer, she saw a little girl around five years of age standing beside the roadside, close to where the man was waving at them to stop.

They also saw a luxurious car parked across the street.

With the thought that the man needs help, along with his child, Clara stopped the car after getting to where the man was.

She parked beside the road, where thick bushes were at both sides, as the place is very isolated.

She quickly got out of the car and Leo did the same. She was surprised to see the man standing erect and looking like a dummy.

She was about to speak, when the little girl that was all white and adorable, putting on a plain sleeveless knee length gown and some sort of multi color flowers used to tie her long hair behind, stare at her.

If Clara is considered the most beautiful, then there needed to be another word greater to describe this little girl.

Same emerald hue with bright red pouty lips. Her big round doll eyes shone as they exited the car.

A smile blossomed on her face, while her lips parted to showcase her white sets of teeth.

Leo and Clara were mesmerized and ended up staying rooted at the spot, wondering who she was, because she somehow looked like Clara.

They broke out from their stupor when the little girl ran forward and closed in on them.

Her tiny arms snaked around Clara's legs, with her head pressed to her waistline, making Clara froze.

"Mommy! you are finally here." she heard the little girl said in a tired tone, as if she has been waiting far long.

Clara was shocked silly, "mommy?" she asked, wondering when she gave birth.

Leo heard the word, 'mommy' from this adorable little girl and was stunned.

Before he could process what he heard and let it make sense to him, the little girl pulled back from the dumbfounded Clara and ran toward Leo, her hands wrapping around his leg, as she shouted "daddy!"

Clara: "....."

Leo: "....."
