“Hmm.”

Selina lowered her gaze as she scanned Alexa up and down. Getting goosebumps from her staring, Alexa pulled up her blanket. When she turned her head as she felt the warmth beside her, Ysildus was blinking his eyes. He had an expression that had just woken up from his sleep. Turning his head, Ysildus felt the unfamiliar presence inside the room.

“Krrrng –“

Ysildus bared his fangs. With its keen sense, the wolf could read Alexa’s anxiety and fear. Ysildus loitered around her then stood in front of Alexa. Selina stared at him with a surprise face.

“Was it because you are a direct descendant? The medicine doesn’t work.”

“What…?”

“Ah, it’s nothing.”

Selina lightly shrugged her shoulders. She looks cute and lovely unlike the situation. Her red hair glistened under the light. Her hair was more reddish than Alexa – like a brightly burning flame.

“I just gave them some sleeping pills.”

“Why on earth would you….”

“Those worried wolves always get in between us, sadly.”

Selina tried to look pitiful. But Alexa didn’t notice the contempt on that.

“Krrrrr –“

Ysildus threatened her as he bared his fangs as if he was going to attack Selina at any moment. Selina smirked. She naturally wasn’t scared of Ysildus. It was the inherent and instinctive fear – the awe for an almighty wolf. But Ysildus was still a wolf cub now and had yet to grow to an adult. He is something that Selina could subdue. That’s why even though that little wolf wasn’t affected, that isn’t a problem to her plan at all.

“He constantly hates me.”

“That….”

“That’s because you didn’t help me, Alexa.”

People are not unaware of Terrun and Ysildus’ hostility towards Selina. She thought that it would get better in time, but it was getting worse instead. Alexa didn’t put much effort into it either. It must have been the point of time when she realized that Selina had lost her character settings as the female lead.

When Alexa admitted she was selfish. That she doesn’t want to give in to Selina. That she wants to have everything she enjoyed.1 Although Alexa told her that she would help her be friends with them, she liked that Selina wasn’t close with either Terrun or Ysildus. [Alexa] was now enjoying what [Selina] supposed to be enjoying, so she will give her what she needs. Alexa’s kindness and compassion to her ends just there. However, it was the same case with Selina, who didn’t give any effort to get along with them.

“I….”

“So, I came here this time to ask for your help.”

Selina cut off Alexa’s words with a sad expression. Selina held out her hand. Ysildus lunged at Selina, baring his fangs. As if he would bite a hole at the back of Selina’s hand at any moment. His sharp teeth protruded on his snout grabbed Selina’s hand. Selina sharply struck Ysildus away.

“Kyaang!”

“Ysu!”

Alexa hugged Ysildus, who had fallen against the wall. Alexa moved back to the headboard of her bed. Ysildus whimpered and burrowed into Alexa’s arms. I let my guard down. Since no one dared to attack Ysildus, she forgot the fact that they are wolves, too. Ysildus was just a wolf cub now who hasn’t grown up yet, so he can’t use his natural power. But once they overcome their essential fear [of the naturally strong], they can attack Ysildus anytime just like Selina.

Selina let out a sigh as she looked at the blood dripping from the back of her hand.

“See, Alexa. I got bitten because you didn’t do it right. You have to do a good job now.” Selina smiled brightly as she wiped the flowing blood on Alexa’s quilt. “What an ill-mannered wolf cub.”

Selina snorted at Ysildus who kept a watchful eye on her. “You can’t win over me with those baby teeth. Even if I am just a weak wolf.”

Selina moved closer to Alexa and sat down. Selina grabbed Alexa by the arm and pulled her out of the bed.

“Let me go!”

Alexa struggled with all her might. Surprised by her sudden rage, Ysildus jumped on the floor. But despite Alexa’s strength, she couldn’t escape Selina. She realizes it now. Why the people in the Grand Duchy said that Alexa was too small and weak. She really was infinitely weaker than the wolves. Selina hummed into a song.

“I was always curious. What on earth makes you so special? You get special treatment with the same red hair and blue eyes as me.”

“I said let me go! What the hell are you doing!!”

“I was on the verge of going crazy because I was jealous. You know what, Alexa? The Thersion Grand Duchy Castle had higher ceilings than other castles.”

Selina glanced behind her and smiled.

“The castle ceiling took into account the height of the wolves. So even though we are only on the third floor, it is enough for a human like you to break your neck and die if you fall.”

“Selina!”

Alexa was frightened with a pale face. Selina held Alexa tighter. The balcony door was open, and Selina dragged her in.

“Don’t try so hard. No one will come to help you.”

Selina said coldly as she pulled Alexa into the balcony. The cold of the autumn night penetrated into Alexa’s body. Her feet were freezing on the marble floor as she couldn’t even wear her sippers. Alexa glared at Selina as her body trembled.

‘I couldn’t have imagined something like this!’

She destroyed her fate of only living a year. Has she lowered her guard from her death since then? She knew that she only needed to avoid Ysildus and Thersion. The one who took her life was none other than Thersion originally.

But when no one from Thersion took Alexa’s life, it might have created the variable named Selina. She felt goosebumps on her skin.

“Die, Alexa.” Selina whispered to her as if she was singing. “I will take care of your place. Just how could it be difficult to tame a wolf cub like that?”

“Don’t do this!!”

Alexa exclaimed desperately. She tried her best to remove Selina’s hand, but she just couldn’t get it out. Selina was pulling Alexa too easily. Besides, it is raining now.

“This rain will erase my smell.”

Selina looked happy. The coldness hit Alexa, freezing her lips. Selina looked at Alexa’s pale face and said, as if she was pitying her, “You are so weak. What can you do?”

Selina clicked her tongue and then pushed Alexa to the edge of railings. Alexa’s waist hung on the handrailing. Selina pushed Alexa more to the point where she was almost falling, gently clasping her hands.

“Goodbye, Alexa.”

“NO!!! I don’t want to die!”

Alexa gritted her teeth and struggled to push Selina away from her. She didn’t want to die. Even though she had thrown herself before without any second thought, it’s not the same this time. The lingering attachment hangs onto Alexa’s ankles. The fear of death also crept in. There was blood on Selina’s neck as Alexa tried to scratch her with her fingernails.

“Shh, stay still!”

Selina bound Alexa’s hands. Her glistening eyes turned to Alexa.

“You are desperate, but I am also desperate. In such circumstances… the stronger wins. And those who have nothing to lose are especially strong.”

Selina tapped Alexa on her shoulder then pushed her backwards.

“Kya, kyaaaaaaaaaah!!!”

Alexa’s scream echoed outside.

“Krrrrr –!“

Ysildus glared at Selina before throwing his body following Alexa. Selina was taken aback for a moment, but she quickly regained her composure. That wolf won’t die just because of that. Selina looked around and the body she threw behind her. Selina smiled as she made a mess inside the room. Alexa tripped while playing with the excited Ysildus on a rainy day and fell outside the railing by herself. Selina threw the scent to the fireplace to erase her smell.

“Ah… that’s too easy.”

I should have gotten rid of Alexa in the first place. Selina took the candle, went back to her room again and lay down as if nothing had happened. She broke out into laughter. A different world will greet Selina as the sun rises tomorrow – a world without Alexa. Selina, who came to the castle of the monsters, was just as a monster.

No matter what he does, he couldn’t reach Alexa. Ysildus struggled as he reached out his front paw. It was at that moment. A deadly pain hit his body all over. A blue light burst out and quickly permeated Ysildus. It was the awakening of incompleteness.

(T/N: Believe me when I say I could also become a monster if it is Selina I am facing. Maybe the reason why the original Alexa was killed by people of Thersion was also because of Selina. I won’t say how angry I was while translating this chapter, I’m just looking forward to the next chapter hmph!)
