Visten promised that he would support her studies. Alexa couldn’t help but be grateful as she had never learned anything about this world’s medical system.

[‘Wow! Really? Wow!’]

Seeing Alexa’s happy face, Visten promised to do something a little overkill, whatever the wind was blowing.

[‘There is an excellent doctor here in our estate. I’ll try contacting him and write to him if he can teach you; maybe he’ll listen. He is planning to retire and would really love to teach future aspirants.’

‘Really? I would really love it!’]

Thanks to that, Visten was now squeezing his head and was writing a letter. It is true that he is also a good doctor and that he is putting effort into nurturing the younger generation, but perhaps because of the formula that all geniuses are ceremonially like that, he had a rather bad personality.

“Hmm. Are you okay?” Even the butler asked him with a worried face.

“Huu, I should get a positive answer from him. I wonder if he would be scolding me out of his eccentric disposition…?”

“No, but rather than that Lieutenant.” The butler firmly shook his head.

“Well?”

“It’s about Miss Alexa. I don’t think he would be kind to her. What if she hides under the blanket and cries? If someone with a soft heart and a good temper like Alexa gets hurt…”

Why is the butler looking like the world has collapsed?

Visten dropped the pen he was holding out of frustration. It was no question that Visten also admits that Alexa is soft. In fact, who would hate such a lovely and clever girl? But, it’s nothing like that….

“What are you so worried about? All human children are like that. Besides, Alexa is a smart kid. I’m sure he will understand and accept her.”

Visten clicked his tongue and picked up the pen again – to finish the sentence he wrote.

[On the other hand, the child I was asking you to teach had a kind personality, and besides, she’s a human child with a small and weak body. So I am asking you to please, conduct the class in a softer tone. I want to emphasize once again that that child was very sweet and kind; even the Little Lord Ysildus was following her. She had such a delicate nature, so please take good care of her so she doesn’t get hurt.

If it were not for this child, I don’t know what would have happened to Prince Ysildus. He might have had an accident while he was out wandering in the streets. I would appreciate it if you could take that into consideration.]

(T/N: ‘ps’ stands for ‘postscript’, used in writing letters. It means an additional thought you write after you have finished writing your letter. Like ‘ps. I love you’ )

No one in Thersion had an enemy inside the Grand Duchy. Wolves are pack animals, so they have a strong bond, which works the same as for humans. Who wouldn’t be grateful for saving a future leader who will lead the pack? There was no doubt that this doctor would teach Alexa.

Visten points his pen on every word he wrote with such fervor.

The butler looked at Visten with strange eyes. He thought that he had just recuse himself, but if Visten was to be added, then he would’ve done more, not less.

The butler cleared his throat in dissatisfaction. I wondered if this was what the young people were talking about.

In any case, the letter was delivered with the best order in Thersion.

In conclusion, ‘Sir Karrolf’ complied with Visten’s request. Although Karrolf wasn’t yet retired, he had plenty of time as the president of the most famous ‘Karrolf Clinic’ in Thersion. Karrolf decided to use that time for Thersion’s benefactor.

A wolf doesn’t forget a grudge, but it doesn’t forget kindness either. Besides, the so-called iron blooded Visten sent him such a long letter. The overall content of the letter was asking him to ‘Please take care of the dear child’, so he was more curious about the main character of the letter. He was also curious about the person who invented a drug with the use of Gavis.

Karrolf was one of the tallest of the wolf bloodlines, with a height of over 190cm. All the houses of Thersion had ceilings built to be 1.5 times higher than that of human houses, but the space where Karrolf was standing seemed full.

However,

His office door opened, and the small white wolf and little girl who came in were too small. Of course, children of wolves have that size when they are growing up, but they are usually in their early teens.

Did he say she is 16 now? Karrolf coughed. Alexa’s tiny body might be blown away if I yelled as usual.

“Hello, Sir Karrolf. My name is Alexa. You can’t tell me how happy I was to have you teach me. During the week I was waiting for Sir Karrolf, I read what Sir had written, such as ‘A Doctor’s Calling’, ‘Which is the answer: a kind doctor or a good doctor?’, ‘Properly doing an Epidemiologic Investigation’, and ‘Stress is the Cause of Diseases’.”

(T/N: Epidemiologic Investigation ‘involves the collection and analysis of more facts or data to determine the cause of an illness and implement control measures to prevent additional illness.’ [Source: mass.gov])

Alexa took a breath.

Karrolf raised his hand involuntarily, feeling that Alexa was going to run out of breath. How can you be so small and yet, talkative?

“I was really impressed.”

Alexa’s cheeks lit up slightly.

It was obvious that she had indeed read Karrolf’s book. It must have been difficult books, but she understood them at that age? There were also books that even the grown-up first pupils of Karrolf had not yet read.

“I would like to discuss those books if I have time. You seem to be a person with a lot to learn from, so I was excited as I waited for a week. Really, really, really.”

And then she laughed bashfully.

Karrolf had a gut feeling that this little girl would be the best, the most wonderful, the most lovable and the cutest of his pupils. He seemed to understand why Visten was so restless and sent him a letter.

Karrolf coughed again. “I-is that so? Can you tell me which book you liked the most?” Karrolf asked in a voice that was not even half of his usual voice – very, very affectionate.

It’s not something we want this little girl to be scared of by Karrolf. Besides, next to the girl,

“Arf! Arrrr!”

He was also wary of the Grand Prince Ysildus who was baring his fangs at him. Even though his body was small as a baby since he had yet to finish his secondary growth, he had a very fierce vigor.

“Shh. Ysu, you should be quiet. Noona told you that I won’t give you snacks if you will be like that.”

“Kiiiing……”

Perhaps understanding Alexa’s words, Ysildus’ fierce vigor quickly subsided. It was also cool for that doll-like girl.

“The thing that impressed me the most was the book ‘Which is the answer: a kind doctor or a good doctor?’ I think that the doctor solved something that was worth considering once in a while.”

So smart! You really read the book.

“Hmm. Thank you. Which doctor do you think is the answer?”

“I think both are the answers. Answers may differ as every doctor had varying beliefs. But they both took an oath before the God of Medicine.”

Alexa smiled slyly.

Even though she went to a veterinary school, she had acquaintances who went to a nearby medical school. They studied different fields, but they have the same goal to save lives. It was also interesting to read for Alexa, as it contained her concerns that she might have to experience at least one in her life. The good energy and spirit of the doctor standing in front of her was also enough to move Alexa.

Karrolf had the eyes of a real doctor. She felt his personality while she was reading the books again and again, but he was a person she wasn’t ashamed to be her teacher when she met him in person.

Alexa’s heart began to beat with excitement. Of course, there was someone interrupting this moment.

“Arf! Arrr!”

If only it wasn’t for the dog.

He keeps barking as if he thinks Karrolf is a threat to Alexa.

“Goodness, Ysu! I told you, you cannot do that!”

As she was stomping her feet with an upset heart, Karrolf suddenly knelt down. It seemed like he was matching Alexa’s eye level.

Karrolf held out his big hand to Alexa, “Alexa, will you give me the opportunity to teach you?”

He even asked very kindly. Alexa smiled brightly and nodded her head.

“Yes! Thank you!!”

Before Karrolf returned to the Clinic, he visited Baron Visten’s office. It was to let him know that he had decided to teach Alexa.

Alexa was a wonderful child. It was surprising how that little child found out how to use Gavis as medicine and cured people’s diseases, but what was even more surprising was that she allowed for the recipe to be known to the world for free.

It was because one of Karrolf’s pupils, who was the Grand Duchy’s attending physician, had heard of this. Although his pupil had great skills, he lacked creativity. He was a clogged up person who doesn’t believe that a weed on the roadside can be a herb.
