Rescue, The Revealed Truth (2)

Roelin clenched her already blue lips as the color eventually faded. Then, she moved her wrist that was tied back.

However, the wrist that had been tied tightly with a rope did not budge at all. She even thought that it was not her own body since the blood did not flow properly and her arm felt absolutely numb.

“Ugh…”

At that moment, another severe pain occurred. Roelin was struggling to untie the rope that had bound her wrists, but she started trembling with her body bent forward all of a sudden.

It was not the third seizure just yet.

She vividly remembered the excruciating pain that assailed her during the first and second attacks. The pain that she felt right now was considerable, but it was nothing compared to the pain that she had suffered from both of the previous times.

So……

‘It wouldn’t be. Okay—no, there is still some time.’

Roelin muttered to herself while trying to shake off the fear that had inadvertently crept into her heart.

After her third seizure, she knew that there was no hope for herself anymore and therefore, believing that this was not the case, had been the only hope that she could possibly have for now.

Roelin let out a shallow breath as she felt the pain eventually subsided. Even taking a deep breath could multiply her pain, so she couldn’t even breathe that deeply.

She then balanced up her breath and slowly straightened her body from the crouching position.

It was still far from sunrise, but it had been so dark that she couldn’t see an inch ahead and Roelin’s vision got completely covered as well.

‘But anyhow, I still have to run away at all costs.’

Roelin looked around and listened as she wondered if she could actually hear anything.

It was to rely on the sense of hearing instead of sight because she couldn’t see anything even if she had her eyes open wide.

But there was not a single sound in her ear at all. No, it seemed that she could hear some men talking in a faintly low voice.

Perhaps it was a discussion on the current situation and consideration on how to deal with it in the future as well.

It was just a while ago that the horses on which the kidnappers of Roelin rode began to fall one by one. She wasn’t able to grasp the situation exactly, but she could be sure that someone had been following after her. The horses must have fallen under the attack.

‘Will Duke Bönt be okay? Also, Lucy and the others as well……’

Roelin bit her lips when she recalled the Duke, who was all covered in blood. Even if the Duke didn’t track her himself, his men were probably following for her rescue.

Thanks to such a situation, the people who had kidnapped her could no longer move along and hid themselves like this.

Roelin was organizing her thoughts before she tilted her head back and looked up at the sky. It seemed that there was a ray of moonlight a while ago, but it was now impossible to even gauge the direction of the east, west, north as well as south since it did not have the slightest indication of moonlight at all.

However, she couldn’t just wait for someone to come and save her vaguely like this.

She thought so and became determined again before she started to twist her arms in order to untie the rope bounding her wrists. But still, the rope would never have gotten to be released that easily. Instead, her soft skin was quickly swept away by the rope.

“Please… please……”

A desperate whisper leaked through Roelin’s parted lips. The pain that could be seen on her wrist through its red hue was not important at all.

……Did that heart of hers touch the sky?

At one point, her wrist got released from the rope which she thought that she could never untie. And at the same time, a rope that was already heavy with blood plopped behind her with a thud.

Perhaps since the sound was heard in the midst of all the silence, it resonated rather loud.

Roelin flinched in surprise without even realizing it herself. Her mouth became very dry and anxious as she wondered if those who had left her here alone would come back as soon as they heard this sound.

Whoosh.

The wind blew in and quickly puffed away. Only then did Roelin breathe without the strength exerted on her shoulders.

Fortunately, no one seemed to hear the sound.

‘I have to run away.’

She could roughly guess why she had been kidnapped. Perhaps they were taking her as a ‘hostage’—just in case. In addition, they might not feel the need to use their hands even more so since she was already poisoned anyway.

‘Even if that’s really the case, I can’t just let myself be treated like this.’

Roelin made a firm resolution to herself and rose cautiously. The wrist, which had been tied for a long time, seemed to be grumbling from its numb pain. She held her hand slightly and opened it before moving her wrist as she looked around slowly.

Which way should I go?

No, to be more precise, which way could she get away from those people who had kidnapped her?

She glanced around once again. At that moment, the voices of the men could be heard even more clearly from somewhere.

“……!”

Roelin’s face, that was pallid due to her vomiting a lot of blood previously, turned even paler. Before she realized it, they seemed to be returning soon.

There was no time for this at all. She turned to the other side in order to escape in a hurry.

Crunch.

Just then, Roelin heard a branch breaking underneath her feet.

“What was that sound…? Go and see if the girl is still there!”

The man’s urgent voice sounded louder. It was a rather familiar voice in Roelin’s ears. It was the voice of the man who intruded into the tent and kidnapped her directly.
