217 Deadlock

Ignoring the noisy Shen Luo, Shen Yin turned around and walked towards the interrogation room.

Zou Sheng quickly followed. He could not help but turn and ask, “Sister, aren’t you angry that your sister said that about you?”

“What’s there to be angry about?” Shen Yin smiled nonchalantly. “She’s just helpless and furious. Her only outlet is her mouth.”

“Sister, are you really going to the interrogation room?” Zou Sheng still felt uneasy. The scolding there was much worse than Shen Luo’s.

“Of course.”

Zou Sheng thought that Shen Yin still cared about her father and wanted to see him personally, but he did not expect to hear Shen Yin say reproachfully, “This small matter isn’t worth Team Three’s time. The most important thing now is that we focus on the case and strive to solve it as soon as possible.”

Zou Sheng immediately blushed with shame and nodded. “Yes.”

The two of them arrived at the interrogation room and saw Wu Zheng emerging with Meng Heng.

Wu Zheng was stunned when he saw Shen Yin. Then, his gaze landed on Zou Sheng with displeasure. “Didn’t I ask you to stop Dr. Shen? What do you think you’re doing?”

“Captain, it’s not like that. Dr. Shen already knows everything.” Zou Sheng tugged at Shen Yin’s arm pitifully.

Shen Yin smiled and stood up to explain for him. “Captain Wu, there’s actually no need for you to stop me. As law enforcers, we have to deal with the case impartially. We can’t use our power for personal gain. As long as we confirm that my father has nothing to do with the serial murder case, we should hand him over to the detention center as soon as possible. We can’t delay the overall progress of the case because of this small incident.”

Wu Zheng was stunned when he heard this. Suddenly, he smiled and nodded. “Dr. Shen is right. Meng Heng, I’ll hand this to you. After handing over the person, come back to the office for a meeting.”

“Yes!”

Meng Heng received the order and walked back into the interrogation room to retrieve the person.

After a night of interrogation, they were almost certain that Shen Cheng had nothing to do with this case. He was just a prostitute’s client who had walked into a trap. He was just a little unlucky and happened to be caught red-handed that night.

Now that they had eliminated the suspect, and with Dr. Shen’s approval, the case would be much easier to handle.

After Shen Cheng was handcuffed and brought out of the interrogation room, he immediately saw Shen Yin, who was standing outside talking to her colleagues. His eyes were as wide as an ox’s as he roared at Shen Yin at the top of his lungs, “You unfilial daughter! How dare you get someone to arrest your father! Hurry up and get them to release me, or I won’t let you off!”

Shen Yin frowned slightly, her expression carrying a hint of disdain. “The evidence is conclusive. They didn’t catch the wrong person. Instead of blaming others, you should blame yourself for not being able to control your lower body.”

After saying that, Shen Yin rolled her eyes and turned around to return to Team Three’s office for a meeting. She could not even be bothered to look at her embarrassing and conspicuous biological father.

Although everyone in the police station knew about the small incident that morning, because of Shen Yin’s popularity and the fact that she was the top forensic pathologist in the police station, no one dared to criticize her. Instead, they admired her selflessness.

Even the people who did not really like her before now stopped when they saw her and respectfully greeted her, “Dr. Shen.”

No matter what the people in the police station thought, the case was still pending.

Last night’s operation could be said to be fruitless.

The murderer did not commit another crime in an area without surveillance cameras as they had expected. Until now, the police station had not received any calls to report the discovery of a new body.

Zou Sheng repeatedly checked the surveillance cameras out of boredom, but he did not find anything suspicious. Now, his eyes were red and his face was haggard.

“I really hope that the murderer will retire and never commit another crime.” He turned off one of the surveillance cameras dejectedly and opened the next video to watch.

Wu Zheng frowned and rapped the table unhappily. “Be aware of your identity when you speak. Even if the murderer doesn’t commit another crime, we have to arrest him as soon as possible and give justice to the dead.”

“Yes, yes, yes. Boss is right.” Zou Sheng nodded repeatedly, but his face was still listless.

Anyone who stayed up all night and watched the black and white videos repeatedly would be dispirited. He urgently needed a soft and comfortable bed to rest.

Shen Yin could tell that he was in an extremely bad state. She patted his shoulder and said, “Go sleep for awhile in the chair in the lounge. I’ll help you look at the surveillance cameras.”

“Really?” Zou Sheng almost jumped up from his chair in gratitude. If not for Wu Zheng staring at him with an unfriendly expression, he would really rush out of the office and go to sleep immediately.

“Mm, come back to work after you’ve rested. Leave this to me.” Shen Yin sat in his seat without any explanation and frowned as she looked at the surveillance cameras seriously.

Seeing that his boss had no intention of scolding him, Zou Sheng snuck out of the office with a smile and prepared to find a place to sleep.
