82 Meeting Again

Shen Yin noticed that something was amiss with herself.

She looked at the woman in the mirror with the icy expression and her heart skipped a beat. She suddenly tried to make herself to think of Lian Jing’s face, pressing very close to her, with his hot breath in her ear. Her calm face visibly turned red.

She let out a long sigh. She had once loved someone, so it was not difficult for her to understand how she felt now.

She had not managed to guard her heart properly, but she had no intention of letting Lian Jing find out.

After the divorce six years ago, Shen Yin had completely lost her desire for marriage. She no longer had the confidence to devote herself to a relationship. After all, she was not that young anymore. She did not want to waste another six years, healing from the trauma she had suffered.

She was standing in front of the mirror in a daze when she heard a woman complaining from the cubicle behind her. “All rich men are terrible. Yesterday, he kept saying he loved me, but today, he’s forgotten about me. He had another woman in his arms, and he said all the same things to her that he said to me. He was just out to have fun. Who can take it seriously?”

“But I was serious!” Another woman sighed plaintively. She had long hair that had been dyed brown and a hot figure, and wore a top that revealed her midriff and an extremely short skirt. “No! Even if he’s determined to abandon me, I’ll get him back!”

“What for? You’re asking for trouble.” Her companion rolled her eyes at her. Then, the two women washed their hands and walked out of the bar side by side.

Shen Yin sighed at the woman’s infatuation and sympathetically followed them out of the washroom, curious to see what kind of man she liked.

She did not know how to follow someone and was afraid of being discovered. So she trailed after them carefully, always maintaining a distance.

The voices of the two women gradually faded away, and Shen Yin suddenly felt uneasy.

This corridor of this noisy bar was surprisingly quiet. She belatedly felt a chill behind her, as if a cold viper was staring at her the darkness.

She did not dare to stay any longer and quickly walked to a more crowded place. Just as she heaved a sigh of relief, she heard the woman complain in a coquettish voice, “Brother Cheng, I can’t bear to leave you. If there’s anything that you dislike about me, I’ll change it, alright?”

The man glanced at the woman coldly. Then he suddenly spotted a beautiful figure and his eyebrows twitched. He walked towards the absent-minded figure. He smiled and wrapped his arm around her shoulders. “We must be fated to meet here.”

Shen Yin subconsciously moved back to avoid his hand, but the man grabbed her shoulder and locked her in his embrace. He smiled evilly at the woman who was pestering him. “Look carefully. This is my new lover. You can leave now.”

The woman glared at him hatefully and ran away in a panic. She accidentally bumped into another figure and was about to curse angrily, but when she saw the man’s elegant features, she shut her mouth.

“Sister, so you’re here. I’ve been looking for you.” Meng Heng’s eyes were fixed on Cheng Huo, who was clutching Shen Yin’s hand.

Only then did Shen Yin extricate herself and maintain a little distance before greeting the man as if nothing had happened. “So it’s you. I must thank you for what happened last time.”

Cheng Huo looked like a playboy. His charming eyes gazed her with a faint smile. “It’s nothing. But if you really want to thank me, why don’t you have a drink with me?”

“Sister, let’s hurry back. Everyone is waiting for you.” Meng Heng lowered his voice and reminded Shen Yin. Then, he stared warily at a certain man who looked very indecent.

Shen Yin smiled and declined politely. “I’m having a meal with my colleagues today. I’ll treat President Cheng to a meal next time.”

“Sure.” Cheng Huo pretended not to understand that she was just being polite and walked to her side with a smile. Ignoring Meng Heng’s warning gaze, he smiled and leaned close to her ear. “I’ll wait for you, Miss Shen.”

Shen Yin nodded and looked away from him. She walked back to the booth with Meng Heng.

“Boss, where have you been? I’ve been waiting for you for a long time. Come and have a drink!” Zheng Ling was usually gentle and quiet, but in a bar, she seemed to transform into a night demon. She having fun with her police colleagues and had quickly made friends with many of them. The smell of alcohol around her gradually grew stronger.

Shen Yin was infected by her smile. She downed glass after glass of beer and finally felt a little dizzy.

Meng Heng looked at the flushed Shen Yin beside him and picked up her phone with a smile. “Is there anyone you want to inform, Sister? I’ll send you home tonight.”
