Chapter 16: Battle (5)

Name:Human King Author:Zaysay
---Hmmm, this is better than expected.

The goblins that he is currently leading are over 34 goblins. 9 are females and the rest are males. Of course, all of them are able to fight. But all of them are practically weak. No one knows how to come back alive from a deadly match.

The reason being is that they just know that they have to fight. They let their instincts lead them. It is not a bad thing considering the life savings moments of when one's instincts kicked in however that's all they have.

So then, what should I do? If I want to win over the impeding battle against Raen, I need to bolster my forces. The day that the bastard comes isn't far. At most a week, the latest will be about five days. I was really in a tight spot on how to make sure that the goblins can stay alive.

However I was able to come up with an idea that was easy to accomplish.

If they can't win as one, they just have to win by two. If two still isn't enough, add another two. It wasn't a groundbreaking idea but it still works. Apparently, only those blessed by the battlefield can exhibit teamwork but not everyone is blessed.

This means that even if they team up, nothing will happen. The result will be just a one versus one while the other waits. That can't happen. And so, I decided to take advantage of my influence.

The sight before me is the result of my action. The result of my decision was as spectacular as it can be. A total of 13 goblins have increased their ranks! The most common is Goblin Low-rank and two Goblins have managed to be Middle-rank. As expected, no one got to be a Goblin High.

"All right, form a three-man group. The first group will be your group. You guys will hunt 6 monster bones."

"But king, where can we find monster bones? What are monster bones anyway?"

"I think it's a skeleton. The opponent the king fought when he saved me was skeletons."

"Hm!"

I let out a cough at this conversation that had gone wrong.

---What? Monster bones is not called monster bones... Why?

"Anyways, you will hunt 6 skeletons or whatever they are called. Didi's team will escort you but unless the situation really calls for it, they are not to interfere. This process will continue until night time."

"Yes king!"

Shifting my focus away from them, I looked at another direction.

---There's no way I'm just going to sit around while my subordinates are working hard to get stronger, am I?

With that in my mind, I quickly left the area and went to the river.

The river was as still as the sky. It wasn't even moving. It had the peace and tranquility was apparent in this place. And that is why monsters try to make this place their territory.

Guroooo!

A noise from the front caught my attention.

---That's... the monkey? No...

The one that made the noise was a monkey but it was not the same one that he used to eat. This one was bigger and it had thicker arms. It knew how to move its body too.

Boom!

Another made its entrance and punched the monkey-like monster. It's appearance was bizarre. The most eye catching part of this new monster was that it had one eye. It had 4 thin legs and its upper body was so big that it seems like his thin legs will give out anytime now.

Finally! He thought.

"This is the kind of fight that I came looking for!"

****

Huff. Puff.

"They were strong, stronger than the wolf that I fought last time."

The ground is stained with blood and the corpses of my opponents. The large body of the monkey and the upper body of the one eyed monster was littered across the floor. It is a scary sight but not for me.

The fight ended with me winning the battle. I didn't win by a large margin. In fact, I only dealt the killing blow to the monkey monster. It was already on its last legs when it was punch by the one eyed monster. The one eyed monster was killed too by taking advantage of its weakness. The thin legs were its weakness. Once one of its legs was destroyed or broken, it can't function anymore.

"What time is it..."

I looked up to see the sun, even though it was about to go out, was still shining brightly.

---The sun is about to come down...almost night time.

Swish.

"Chwee!"

The sound of a cry was heard and the important part was that this sound was familiar to me. I turned my head to look at it and it was a goblin. I got confused for a moment because I know the ones from my village shouldn't be here. I approached the goblin and proceeded to ask him.

"Why are you here? You should be in the other side."

Hiii!

That was the only answer he could receive from the goblin. After letting out that answer, he immediately turned his back and escaped into the forest. Of course, this action confused him.

---Why did he run? Ah!

There is only one answer why a goblin would run from him.

---He's not from my village!

A smile naturally formed on his face.

****

"What should we do! Raen is probably marching on us right now. He terrorized us when he came here first. We were only fortunate because there was the wolf staying in between us but that wolf is nowhere to be found now!"

"Maybe we should just go under him..."

"Don't fool around! Why must we gather under a colored goblin that was exiled! He was exiled because he was not honorable!"

Numerous people are talking to each other at once to solve the problem that they are facing right now. The enemy that they had forgotten long ago has come back. Furthermore, that enemy was a true tyrant. He killed anyone if he felt like it. He crushed a baby's head if he heard its cry.

Only bad memories will surface when one thought of Raen. That was why they were having problems at having to come up a solution. They can't fight back because they'll die. They can't surrender because they'll die. At such situation, what should one do?

As if to make the situation worse, a small goblin made a ruckus in the village. Of course, the people in this kind of room heard it too and the village chief made his way outside. He asked,

"What is going on!"

"Chief!" was heard when the goblins outside recognized the owner of the voice.

"A baron!!"

At that moment, behind the goblin, a large goblin appeared. It had a light green color for its skin and its upper body was packed with muscles. His fangs were protruding from his mouth and his aura was as fierce as his scary looking face.

The goblin looked at them and naturally all of the goblins flinched from receiving this goblin's gaze. The village chief was only a Goblin High and the being in front was a Goblin Baron. Who could go against such a monster?

"A village?"

The monster-like goblin spoke. From the tone of his voice, he didn't know that there was a village of a goblin here. Furthermore, it looks like he wasn't hunting the goblin that returned. The village chief picked up this and started to speak towards the goblin.

"Why are you here? O, a being blessed by the battlefield!"

His voice was full of fear and at the same time it was full of respect. A goblin blessed by the battlefield is something that is revered but of course they would strike back if that said goblin attacked them.

"Are you the chief of this place?"

The goblin, after hearing the question by the dignified chief, asked as if he was already expecting the answer.

"I am! I again ask! Why are you here?!"

At this moment, the village chief was already scared. If one didn't know a scary monster and it pointed its face and attention on you then the only reaction is either be scared or fight against it. The village chief chose both. He decided to fight against it on the outside while he was scared on the inside.

The monster-like goblin took its time to answer. 1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes...Of course, no one moved while he was contemplating. The village chief was anxious and nervous at this moment. He was worried that because he tried to fight him, they will be wiped out. Mercilessly killed on the spot…

As if to reassure the village chief, the monster-like goblin spoke.

"I will take control of this place!"

He declared.

That was the day the problem that they were so worried about was solved in an instant.
