Chapter 4: Danger

Name:Human King Author:Zaysay
The night passes with the rising of the sun. When I came to, it was already noon. I felt hungry after waking up so here I am, looking for water to secure my survival after eating the Orc meat. It was just a head so it wasn't enough.

I also noticed that my injury got healed, I don't know why but it probably has to do with me evolving into a Goblin Baron.

Speaking of Goblin Baron, my green skin turned lighter, turning into a light green. I don't know how to react about it because as far as I know, a darker goblin is better and stronger.

My physique got bigger and I am now taller than most goblins, reaching a human's chest. With me being a Goblin Baron, I can feel some strength that didn't exist before, my senses sharper and my mind clearer.

Incidentally, a normal goblin's height reaches only a human's waist.

Excited about this newfound strength, I roam boldly, looking for a water source near to the cave I am staying in. As it is daytime, higher ranked monsters wouldn't be moving around unless something happens in their territory.

Thinking about it, where can I find a goblin like myself? If I can live in a pack and join them, maybe my safety will be ensured. I really want to see some of my kind and learn more about myself.

---Oh! This is?

I noticed a trail, one used by monsters judging by the size of it. Most likely, the wolf I encountered the other day. Knowing the dangers of this road, I sharpened my senses and search the area.

---Hmm, what should I do? I don't know if I can fight the wolf with my strength as of now. I guess I'll just-

"Grrrr"

A noise interrupts my thinking. When I looked around, I notice a small wolf, baring its fangs at me. Comparing it to the one I met, this one is just a baby. It probably thinks that it can take me on, seeing my form.

Deciding to take care of the cub, I position myself. My instincts tell me what to do as a goblin. My stomach tells me to kill it and enjoy its meat.

The wolf circles around me, positing his body while being cautious. It surely is a wolf. It knows how to hunt while being young.

Seeing the wolf like that, my heart beat faster and my insides screamed at me.

The pressure on my mind rose.

This is... Excitement!

My anticipation grows when knowing my strength, my limits.

My opponent is a cub. I will fight you!

Swiish.

As if reading my mind the wolf jumps out, his claws drew a line of light and slashed through the space, where I am standing.

What he cut was not me but air. I glide to the side and throw my fist at his stomach.

Irritated at the fact that his attack missed, the wolf bares its fangs at my fist, causing both of us to take damage.

I jump back at the unexpected move of this cub. My right fist is bleeding and I can feel my flesh rotting.

---Does it have a poison on its fangs?! Shit!

On the other hand, the wolf is not fazed at all. Knowing that I am poisoned, he rushes at me with his body.

I got thrown to a nearby tree, coughing with blood coming out of my mouth. Another unexpected attack got me!

---Shit! At this rate, I'll be done in!

"Guraaa!"

I let out a roar instinctively after swinging my arm to clear the dust forming.

The wolf! I can't see the wolf?!

"Grrrr!!"

Looking at my right, the wolf jumps with its fangs out in its full majesty, hoping to sink its fangs one more time.

The poison on my right hand stings, my back and head hurts. This next attack will finish me off!

Desperate, I lower my hips to prepare for his attack and put my right shoulder in front.

The fangs went straight in my skin, piercing my bones and the poison follows.

Instinctively, I twist my ankles, followed by the hips and my left fist comes swinging in, striking the wolf.

The wolf, convinced with its victory, couldn't dodge at the right time.

His head and my fist meet.

Boom!

He got separated from me and he was tossed at a tree. Not convinced that the wolf is dead with just one punch, I ran after it and jump down at its body.

The wolf arches back from the pain and I throw my fist again, to strike downward at my foe.

"Hurrr!"

Before my fist reaches its jaw, he let out a wolf-like sound and died after the contact from my fist.

Huff! Puff!

---Damn, my body hurts! The poison is still there.

Breathing heavily, I took the leg of the wolf as a hold and began to pull it. Knowing the dangers of the forest, monsters may come here after the noise and the smell of blood. It's better to get out of here right now.

I walk around with the wolf behind me and after walking for some time, I finally ran out of strength and lump down to the ground.

I pull the leg of the wolf and proceed to eat it.

---Delicious! Nothing beats something you earned with your own hands!

My strength returns and my wound on my right fist starts to heal. This is probably thanks to the regeneration speed of the goblins. The poison doesn't seem to be strong enough to overturn the healing properties of an evolved goblin.

After eating for some time, a shadow shows itself on the ground. When I looked up to see what it is, my eyes widened in shock and fear filled my entirety.

---It's an evolved wolf!!
