The following morning, Samuel woke up and felt someone sleeping beside him. He pulled off the sheets gently and saw two people. Mayra who was hugging him like a pillow and Elise with her weird sleeping posture with both her foot on his waist while lying on her stomach.
He knew she had a strange sleeping habit but how can anyone sleep like that? He first peeled Mayra off of him and picked up Elise to lay her beside her. Lastly, covering them with bedsheet he made his way to do his daily chores.
It was quite early around five in the morning but he was feeling refreshed. He knew it was unlikely that anyone was awake so he decided to head out to the gym for some daily exercises. He had been missing a lot of his sessions lately.
It took about an hour for him to finished his sets, he wanted to do more but suddenly he heard a phone alert. He checked because he had many contacts around the world, he was especially keen on getting updates on Steve's situation who he hadn't heard from since their last conversation.
He was worried if the mission went well or not and to his surprise it was Steve telling him that he would be returning home tonight. It was only a short message probably because Steve didn't want to disturb him early morning but it did lift some weight off his shoulder.
" Jane must be over the moon right now." He smiled thinking about it. She had been grumpy lately and most of it came from not having Steve around. They were already inseparable even before they got together but it only amplified after their marriage.
He scrolled through other messages, there were quite a few mostly from Maia and Paige directly asking about Mayra and Rosaline who was giving him updates on her joint venture with Liliana. Also from Sybilla sending him new photos from her blog posts but nothing from Liliana.
They hadn't talked since he left LA, he was a little sad but still he thought it was best to leave her alone for now. He thought about flying out to see her couple of times this week but decided against it.
He mindlessly scrolled still thinking about her when his eye got the first received text after he went to bed. It was Dhia the recent acquaintance he met when he went to party with Darren and Emma. She was a sweet girl but there was nothing going between the two.
She would hit him up every now and then as they mostly talked about business and stuffs related to her field. It was nice to have someone around his age that he could openly talked without caring about his social standing. It was mostly him mentoring her before she graduated but this time the text was different.
It was a long paragraph mostly about her leaving London to go back to her home country of Malaysia. It was understandable as the holiday season was coming but after it she went on a rant and what surprised him was it was mostly about Kate.
" Which key?" Arthur was confused but seeing that playful smile on Samuel's face, he knew the boy was up to something!
" The modded Audi R8 one that my uncle loves so much. He has been bragging about it on every family occasion. I just like to test it out myself." Normally the car wasn't worth much at least from a Rothschild's perspective but it unlike entry models, Peter decided to get one made especially for his big frame.
It costed a lot of money because they had to do most of the work by hand but ultimately it turned out great. It had a slightly larger body with all the latest parts but what's 'flashy' about it was it's golden color.
It wasn't painted but they used real gold to plate most of the exterior making it extremely obnoxious to look at. Coupled with large engine and a modded exhaust one could spot it in a sea of cars without even paying attention to it.
It was one of the reason why his uncle protected it with his life, one scratch would definitely take days if not weeks to fix. Samuel tried to reason with him in the past but he would always fail so this time he went to Arthur for help.
" I don't know where the key is. Why don't you ask him yourself? He just went to the training area half an hour ago."
" Don't play with me old man. I know because he always seem to forget where he put things he tasked you with guarding it! Just give it to me and I will only say that I stole it from your secret stash."
" He has been pretty worried about it since Lady Mary has been eying it too. Which is why he refrained from parking it in the family compound." Arthur mumbled. He thought about it and handed Samuel the key retrieving it from his hiding location.
Samuel was surprised but gladly accepted the key. He sneaked inside and seeing the coast was clear hopped into the car driving it straight to the city.
Peter returned after a few minutes because he tasked guards to inform him if they saw anyone taking his car outside. He went straight to Arthur demanding answers.
" What's an old man going to do when he is threatened? I had to accept his demand after he beat me fair and square."
" Beat you? That's impossible." Everyone knew Arthur was the final boss of the Rothschild legion alongside Daniel who was his student. Even Peter who had mostly dedicated his life to beat them knew Samuel wasn't at their level at least that's how he perceived him but he didn't know how strong Samuel had gotten since he first started.
Arthur knew Peter had been taking it lightly lately and just wanted to create some friction to motivate him and by the look of shock on his face, he knew he succeeded. He just hoped Peter would pick a fight with Samuel over this.
