Laura began to tell Graysen about Samuel's history to the best of her abilities. She didn't give him any details, but by the end, he understood how much it would have hurt his big brother about what he said.

" I heard you called him selfish for not being home enough? Do you know why he is doing everything?" he was quiet.

" If you call him dotting on a little girl who went through so much in life, how should he care about someone who already has everything under the sun? He could stay here and take care of family business but he chose to leave his mark and now look at everyone that look at him with admiration. Doesn't you, too?"

" Then you should say mean things to him. I returned from work and saw that he had gone out drinking, which was unusual because Mayra was at home waiting for him. He also fought with some people because he must be thinking about what happened. You are not making our lives easier by keeping him safe; how would you feel if he doesn't come home someday?" She knew it was a harsh question, but she needed him to understand what was at stake.

She loved her sons equally, but Samuel had a special place in her heart. He was her lucky charm; because of this, she was able to enjoy so many blissful years and even manage to get pregnant, which was a miracle in itself.

It hurt her heart to see her sons fighting over menial things. She always wanted for them to get along even when she was not here to look after them, that's what any mother hoped for before leaving this earth.

" I hate it!"

" Right? I always told you to respect your elders. I know your brother likes to spoil you every chance he gets. He even arranged a horse ranch for your birthday, but that doesn't mean you should take his gifts for granted. He is still your older brother, and if he tells you to do something, you should accept his wishes." She looked at him to see him face down.

" But do not blindly follow him; there should be a mix, but you will understand it when you get older. For now, you and Anya both need to understand what you did wrong, you understand?" She asked again.

" Yes, I am sorry mother."

" It's not me that you should be apologising; go find your brother and make things right. Being a man is to admit when you were wrong; you should remember that. I will talk to your father in the meantime, go." Graysen left immediately, and Robert entered the room from the other side.

" You were listening?"

" Yes, I wanted to come in, but I thought you were doing a great job and didn't want to spoil the mood," he said with a smile.

" Was it right for me to interfere? I wanted them to resolve it on my own, but I couldn't bear it seeing them like this." She said with a sad face.

" You were excellent. They are very fortunate to have you as their mother." He hugged her. She also calmed down, feeling his warmth on her face.

" Aren't you a sweetheart today?"

" When did I stop being one? I thought we should go on a vacation, just the two of us, after everything is resolved." He asked.

" I will love that, what do you think after Christmas? We can spend the new year on some beach on an island country." She said excitedly.

" Fine, I will ask Paul for some suggestions. But there is only one problem?"

" Hmm?"

" If Sami can restrain himself in the meantime. I always feel pity when they come knocking saying our son had rounded up another batch of rascals."

" Hahaha, I know, right. He has been a trouble magnet since we met him." She chuckled, thinking about it.

" Yeah, I still remember that day like it was yesterday. Look at him now; I can hardly believe it."

" You are right, while we are on the topic of our rascal son. I heard there would be a big storm coming this Christmas."

" What?"

" While we were out, we met with Adele; you know what that means, right? I think we should warn him about it."

" No, let him reap what he sowed. He has been running amok for quite some time now. It will be a good experience to know that he shouldn't take others for granted." Robert smiled.

" I can't believe you would say something like that, but it would be a fun event. I can't wait to see his embarrassed face." Laura agreed to keep it a secret.

Graysen went out to find Anya waiting for him outside. He looked at her face, and the swelling had somewhat subsided, but she looked sad. He thought that she was hurting because it was her mother who slapped her.

" Are you okay?"

" I am fine. Will you come with me? I need to see Elise." She asked.

" I want to find my brother first-"

" I asked; he is not here right now. Please, I want you to accompany me. I can't do it alone." She asked again more sincerely. He looked at her and could feel something different about her.

He didn't know what happened to her, but in a time of need, he didn't want to abandon his friend, so he nodded as they started walking silently. Anya asked one of the maids, and listening to her polite voice surprised her a little, but she answered her question respectfully.

" What happened to you? You are behaving strangely."

" It's nothing."

" No, there is definitely something going on; usually you would start with,' Hey, you tell me blah blah.' but this time you started your question with excuse me? Did you get sick or something?"

Hearing him say it made Anya realize how she was before; she didn't care about other people much and only respected someone she admired. No one found fault with her early because she was not overly offensive to anyone.

Even now, she could see that the maid was surprised to see her respectful to her. Was she always such a person?

" Was it that different?"

" Yes, you would also scream and shout if others don't hear you the first time. Like-"

" I get it! You don't have to repeat it! What's wrong with you? You also look kinda sad." She tried to change the subject because Graysen's poor imitation embarrassed her.

" Nothing, I will tell you about it later." He didn't want to tell her because he didn't know if his brother wanted others to know. He thought his brother didn't like it when people mentioned it. If not, why shouldn't anyone tell him before? Although he was utterly wrong about it, it didn't matter because he was keeping it a secret in good faith.

They didn't talk much after that, Anya went to the room where Elise was but found that her mother was still there affectionately looking at the sleeping little girl. She didn't know if she should go in, but Graysen pushed her and made their presence known.

" I am here." He whispered and followed behind her.

Karoline looked back to see them but immediately turned away. She knew she couldn't be mad at her daughter if she looked at her poor face. She was also feeling guilty for hitting her. It was not just Anya's first time, but it was a shared event, and both parties were at an impasse because they didn't know what to do next.

" Mother, I know you don't want to talk to me right now, but I only wanted to say that I am sorry for hurting you. Father told me a few things, and I didn't know about it; I don't know how to say it, but..." Without her, knowing she was already crying, tears started to fall down her cheeks, but she stayed strong.

"*sob* *sob* I will definitely make you proud and never-"

" It's fine. I know my daughter is a good girl!" Anya didn't even notice when her mother came to her side and hugged her. She embraced her daughter and started crying, too.

" Mother is so sorry for hitting you! *sob* Does it still hurt?" She asked with tears in her eyes, to which Anya moved her head sideways, fighting the urge to cry louder.

" Aunt! I am also sorry for showing you something unexpected! I will try to do better and not disappoint you in the future!" Graysen also proclaimed with a loud voice. He, too, was holding back his tears because he knew it was a disgrace for a man to cry! He didn't want to be a kid anymore!

" Come here; I am sorry for saying mean things to you, too." She hugged him, too. They were embracing each other when they heard another set of cries coming from their back.

Elise was out of bed looking at them, crying; she didn't know what to say and started crying because she saw them crying.

" Oh, baby! Come here. Don't cry." She took three of them and group hugged them.

" My three babies!" Everyone started crying, but not before Anya proclaimed her intentions to Elise with a determined voice.

" You! Call me big sister from now on, alright?" Everyone heard it even Elise nodded violently showing her that she agreed!
